Post-match discussion

We should let Sanchez leave. Poor fecker probably already regrets coming here. The standard of some of our players on the basics of the game is an absolute embarrassment. Jones and Smalling in particular were a disgrace today.

League was done a while ago and players do seem to be struggling for motivation, I know I am. Add to that this slow poison brand of footy José specialises in and you get this.

I love this club, but this current team is so unlikable it's unreal. There is not one bit of backbone in it, as soon as any sort of pressure is applied they bottle it every single time.

Huddersfield, Spuds, Newcastle. We don't seem to have the bottle when a side plays with intensity and sticks a proper shift in. Very few of our players up for a scrap. Piss poor performance.

My take on the game is that our manager is as clueless as our players. He's past it and I have lost all faith in him. I'll support him while he's here but I couldn't wait any stronger for him to leave now.

This team has lost its way....gone are the days of players knowing and understanding who they play for....now its just a bunch of twats collecting a big paycheck....gone are the days of entertaining attacking football....gone are the days of a having a manager who made the players understand that if you dont put up then you are out. Bring in all the players you want, if they arent playing under the right system or a system that can suit everyones strengths then this kind of shite will continue.

And again.. just not good enough.
Martial really should have done better.
Lingard was not at the races.
No creativity in general.
Not enough fight.
Too bloody negitive.

Huddersfield and now Newcastle away clearly screams that collectively the attitude is absolutely substandard!!

One team has mainly championships players the other spent over 250 millon pounds, but watching both teams play you wouldn’t know.

Dunno why they offered Mou a contract extension, needs to go and take about 5 players with him.

Ultimately the buck stops with the manager when it comes to tactics and play, and I (along with many others) see zero cohesion or understanding between players within this team.

From game to game, to go from great performance one day, to a total lack of caring on another, is really worrying

Dogshit performance, we look like a bunch of strangers in attack and have two CB's that look like they wish the whole game could be played in the air, plus as usual we have very minimal threat from the fullbacks who operate independently of our wide players, no link up. Once we go behind I feel very little hope of even getting a draw these days.

This game sums up why we didn't win the league this season. The balance is still not right in midfield and we have players starting when their not good enough to play for Man Utd and never will be.

I always concede when we are well beaten. Huddersfield, Chelsea, City, Spurs and Bristol all deserved to beat us. Newcastle did not. The chances they gave us today would have seen us score multiple goals in the majority of games. How they kept a clean sheet, I do not know. NBC pundits are talking out of their arse: that was not a good defensive performance.

Cannot say I agree with Mou’s team selections and substitutes currently, but we still did enough to win more often than not. Buying Sanchez was a complete waste of time if we play him inside left by default in a 4-2-3-1. We are no stronger than we were before.

Shocking performance. Twice Jose has gone with that line up and twice we have lost. Newcastle were poor too and yes we could have won it with the chances we created but it doesn’t take away just how disjointed we were going forwards.

Sánchez was probably our best player on the day, and Smalling was rubbish, should have conceded a penalty and was caught diving which led to their goal, shocking stuff.

Oh and Pogba was clearly not fit. He laboured all game and should not have played.

Lukaku good, Sanchez & De Gea ok, Martial wasteful, Pogba very poor, Lingard very poor, Smalling terrible.

Anyone not mentioned was poor, but not noticeably poor.

Defenders fault that our big name attackers could not do anything with vast amounts of the ball.

Hot stinking trash of a performance. Embarrassing from the dugout to the pitch (except Rom).

So many things looking wrong at the moment.

- Smalling and Jones aren't working.
- Pogba was clearly not fit and shouldn't have played.
- Matic is playing like a 40 year old who badly needs a rest.
- Going into the season with Zlatan as Lukaku backup was a big mistake.
- Sanchez has looked good but has completely messed up our balance. Lingard or Martial need to be dropped for Mata in order to accommodate him.

A draw would have been a fair result.

Well done Newcastle. These results happen. No biggie. The usual drama queens need to feck off and free up the Caf bandwidth for the intellectual posters like myself.

We have some serious, serious problems with this squad. I hope to god Jose was lying when he said we're not signing an attacking player in summer. We need a better alternative than Mata, he kills our width when he comes on and is too slow.
We were awful before Mata came on as well

We ha

Smalling and Jones look like they have a mistake in them every game, shouldn't be saying the same things.
We have some serious problems with the management, coaching and formations.

Get rid of Pogba and Lukaku.

Both small mentality players.
Lukaku was one of our best players today. Only he and Sanchez seemed bothered about playing football. His link up play and control has massively improved over last couple of months. Pogba was a joke today, heard he was injured but he's been dire for about 70% of the games he has played for us since we spent 80m quid on him which could of homed all the uks homeless people.

We need to get rid of them ASAP. They are a big reason behind our decay into shambles. People will argue with that but it's the truth. As soon as neither one are part of a back four, fortunes will change.

The bench had nothing that was going to influence the game positively. Mata is too slow and week, Carrick to old and his first instinct now is sideways (or even back), where are the killer passes? But perhaps with only Sanchez and to a lesser extent Martial that would do anything with it perhaps nothing would have come of it anyway
Real boost for Liverpool going into their game....

Still no where near clinical enough and until that changes we'll be in the same position we've been for the past few years

Martial HAD to score that first half chance

I feel sick after that. Newcastle haven't won a home game since October. The simple reality is that we've seen the exact same performances so many times since Fergie retired. What more do you expect these days? Inspite of how much money that's been spent since his departure we have too many mediocre players starting for us and it's stupid to expect different results with the same players. Massive clearout is needed in the summer.

Too many passengers and too much sentiment protecting them.

I hope to god Smalling is gone in the summer. He is a perpetual accident waiting to happen. He cannot pass the ball, when we need someone who can come out with the ball and he always looks terrified.

Fair play to that...I think everyone is to blame but Mourinho needs to take a serious look at himself and the way he has this team playing.

Hope you're joking

This is going to be one of those weeks where the Caf will not be a fun place to be, and I think it'll be entirely justified. We're not seeing much evolution with the way our team plays and it's becoming concerning, there's no excuse for not burying Newcastle.

We need to see some improvement attacking-wise, doesn't matter how well we defend (and we don't even do that very well at times) if we don't learn how to attack properly, we'll never win anything substantial if we don't learn. Look at all the best teams in Europe and what they have in common is a well-organised, cohesive attacking unit.

There's a massive lack of fight and effort from our players, Liverpool and Spurs are two of our closest rivals and their players are running through brick walls for their manager. Ours look like they can't wait for the match to be over. We lack leadership on the pitch, no one to take control and bollock our players. Players like Keane wouldn't have stood for what Smalling did today, he'd be absolutely livid. We make fun of Arsenal for weak-willed players, we're not much better in our own regard in that sense.

I’m not fuming, but just very disappointed with how we’re going backwards again. There’s something very wrong going on with our coaching, as with this collection of attacking talent, we should be beating shite like Newcastle convincingly. There’s bad days and then there’s what we currently are. A team with all of the attacking talent in the world that doesn’t have a clue how to attack.

That was the worst performance I’ve seen this season and that is saying a lot. I don’t know about y’all but when I see Pogba in a 2 like that I have very little hope of getting a result, even against a team like Newcastle.

Newcastle showed more heart and desire to win than any of our lily-livered glass-hearted pansies.

We had enough chances to win, it should not have come to this. Their defenders (and Voldemort) were immense, and their debutant 'keeper had a fecking worldie. On another day we could have won but it just wasn't to be.

Pogba, injury or not, should be ashamed of himself. If you're not fit then don't play. He let himself and his teammates down today.

Smalling's dive in the build-up to that goal was also embarrassing.

I think I would've rathered not signed Sanchez if I'm honest, its totally stifled Martial and ruined the balance and efficiency of our attacking play, going forward we've looked shit since we signed him.

There are so many issues to pick fault at it’s not possible to see how this team can challenge for a title.

The defence needs a serious overhaul. How can the opposition lob 60 70 yards hopefully punts and get possession everytime?

Set pieces...is there are worst team out there at delivering balls in? We could have a 100 corners at not look like scoring a goal (I suspect it’s been more than that number since we did!).

Going forward, the lack of cohesion defies belief. It’s like the team just met each other for the first time before ko!

Go home all, nothing to see here.

For those who were mocked and laughed at before the game, dont bother in next match day thread.
