PL W FA Premier League

Manchester City 1:2 Manchester United

Post-match discussion

We actually played well especially 2nd half, not a top tier performance but it was a good performance overall and we deserved the win
Tend to agree - the passage of play in the second half leading up to Diallo’s header that was saved is one of the most encouraging so far under Amorim. Controlled possession for 2-3 mins, no one carelessly giving it away, and ended up by getting behind their midfield with a decent chance for Amad.
That being said, City didn’t press well at all - they look like a knackered old dog. Such a satisfying demise

Should have gotten 3 yellows, 1st for the challenge, 2nd for going head to head and a 3rd for simulation.... Actually he should have got a straight red for that simulation, hope the FA do him for unsportsmanlike, absolute disgrace

Absolutely. It does raise the question of whether players should get more than just a yellow card for simulation. It's cheating. I'd be happy if the rules changed and we started seeing reds for that. How can you get a yellow card for mistiming a tackle (a genuine attempt to play the game) and then sometimes (I say sometimes as not all refs give cards for simulation) get a yellow for diving or faking an injury or faking an attack from another player. How can the two warrant the same punishment? The only reason players dive or fake an injury in that area of the field is to get another player sent off for violent conduct. If the referee falls for it, it's going to result in sending our guy off. Therefore, it stands to reason that the player faking it should receive the same punishment for faking violent conduct.

That signings comment was doubly dumb as he said "it's not quite comparable to the Casemiro, Antony window but it's getting there"...Casemiro was really good that season, Antony scored some important goals and we finished 3rd??

It was also literally 2 sentences after praising Mazrouri.

For someone who is supposedly both a football expert and a United fan he really is a clueless cretin
I agree. He was reaching so much today in his efforts to criticise United and INEOS.

At first I thought it was just him, maybe annoyed Rashford was completely dropped from the squad. Then when he started on ineos etc i really started wondering if he’s been sacked or having issues with his OT development role.

What’s happened with / between Rashford / Garnacho. Was glad they got dropped, surprised both not in squad.

Amorim alluded to the way they were acting on and off the pitch, how they were training etc. He didn't really go into specifics and spoke more generally about standards that everyone had to meet.

Post-match, he refused to be drawn into specific criticism and said every week was a clean slate so once they trained well etc they'd be contention for the squad like everyone else.

- Thought all the centrebacks were decent. Martinez the pick of the bunch. Don't know why De Ligt gets such ridicule in the media as I think he's largely been fine?

- Ugarte was ok. Feel like he'd be better if the rest of our forwards/midfield actually did their jobs.

- Amad...he was great anyway but the winning goal was genuinely world class stuff. He makes it look easy but how many players in the 90th minute of a manchester derby make that run and have the audacity to flick the ball over the keeper's head with their first touch? I think most players it just runs through to the keeper.

- Mazrouri decent as usual.

- Game was a load of shite but we did do the defensive/organisation part pretty well. Just far too passive on the ball apart from when Amad had it.

- Going to start a government petition for a "mute Gary Neville" option to be a legal requirement for all televised sport events.

- Kyle Walker what an embarrassing human being

- City kind of need to sack Pep, except they can't because he's won most of the trophies in their history, except they only won them by cheating so they probsbly should just sack him. Except they can't because no manager with a brain will take over a team that might get a 100 point deduction in a few months time. Funny

It's just what he's always like. He shouldn't be put on United games. Some of the comments about the players would be fine on here but are bang out of order from a professional pundit who is meant to be analysing the game objectively..

Maguire had an excellent game against Haaland. Didn't give an inch. Bruno had a poor game but came through when it mattered. Maz did well but that left side needs sorting. Dalot gave me palpitations. Kobbie off the pace a bit but City couldn't muster enough to overwhelm our midfield.

loved it just loved it, fantastic result against those fcking intolerable scummy cheaters. get keano in a room with that rat walker, would pay to watch that go down

Because we got the win nothing will be said in the media about that non penalty call, or Kyle Walker being a massive bellend.

Just heard his post match interview.
Loved the part about “when people are losing their jobs” put everything into context and established that players need to meet a certain standard both on and off the pitch.

Good thing is not just a win, but the fact that we outplayed City away.

You saved yourself some grief. We had the ball but did nothing with it.
That’s not true to be honest. We used our defence to control the game and created the better chances. We should have won that game and we did. Our weakness from set pieces was visible again.

Big games are cagey and the fact that we didn’t play a basketball game to just “do something with the ball quickly”. Very happy that this is the outcome after only a month with the new manager with very little playing time.

Finally there is a change we have the right guy in the role.

This is what we all fecking wanted!!!!

But I maintain that lots of United fans hate possession football, we ain’t used to it, and will have to adjust.

At our best, winning trophies, we nearly always dominated the ball.

We had Scholes, Keane and Beckham in midfield. Later Carrick. We love players who look after the ball.

To say we hate possession is fairly off.

Like all fans we just don't want endless sideways stuff with no end product.

That last sentence is what possession football is though. It’s keeping the ball.

Carrick took tons of pelters for being ‘too safe’, it’s only now in hindsight he gets the plaudits he deserves.

Maybe I’m wrong, meh, I don’t care we just beat City away and we’re the better side. Wooooo!

I missed the end product bit. I can’t read! Yeah I suppose you’re right, I was at OT for the Everton game and thought we were at times doing well keeping the ball and taking the sting out of things.

But fans around me were getting super restless, just a general observation I think we can get restless when we try to look after the ball at times. But maybe I’m wrong.

That was brilliant I haven't celebrated a goal as much since er the Mainoo goal in the cup final!
After 15 minutes you could see City were absolutely bricking it they really didn't know what to do and we were comfortable until that deflected cross.Second half we were much better but I'd thought any chance of a point had gone with the Bruno miss but step forward Amad just brilliant.
Loved it absolutely buzzing.

The fact he's having his breakthrough season at 22 says it all about Ten Hag's judgement, should have been a regular far earlier. He was fantastic for Sunderland, came back and couldn't get games.

Oh the faces on those usually, gloating Bertie’s !
:lol::lol::lol:

Had we beaten Forest last weekend, we’d be 5th place tonight.
Instead we’re just 6 points behind Forest who are in 4th place.
It just shows how fine the margins are this season.

Unlikely as it seems, beating City gives us a fantastic opportunity of at least challenging for a European spot, possibly an outside chance of top 4, if Amorim can now get a successful run of results.
Something that most of us thought was out of reach only a week or two ago.

.

That was pretty comfortable in terms of the games we've played against them over the last few years. Got our shit together in the second half. We deserve this tonight!
We were almost even in the possession stats. When was the last time you could say that? Losing Rodri has absolutely hammered them.

fecking left the ground at 80 mins to beat the traffic!

I didn't get to watch this live today because I had to work. I'm going to go pour myself a glass of expensive wine and savor it while I watch. I couldn't avoid seeing the score but this is the one time I'm not mad that I did.
