PL W FA Premier League

Manchester City 1:2 Manchester United

Post-match discussion

G Neville was really annoying me this match. His entire commentary was about United playing bad, when we were actually playing good. And he also compared Ineos first summer signings to Antony. Really? De Ligt is usually a 7/10, Mazraoui is usually a 7-8/10, Ugarte is getting better and better and actually also creates with his through passes, Yoro is looking good, Zirkzee even if he flops so what.

I think we may have found a team worse than us at set pieces. Apart from that first one which was lucky, they was bad at corners.

He’s always bad. Try’s being so unbiased that he criticises us all the time. We could have been 4-0 up and it still wouldn’t have been good enough

We actually played well especially 2nd half, not a top tier performance but it was a good performance overall and we deserved the win

Micah talking absolute shite. He's trying to turn this into a conversation about Rashford being made a scapegoat, when both himself and Garnacho were dropped.

"I'm just giving an alternative view"

He's a whisker away from telling everyone to do their own research. Absolute loon, I don't even know what point he's trying to make.

Will be quite telling what Amorim does with them next game. He's got the clout to make a decision like EtH did with CR7.

Wondered about that, I didn't see Garnacho on TV either which I'm pretty sure would have happened if they'd been there, I suspect they were told to stay away

Which would definitely be an interesting decision from the club.

But that’s neither here nor there at the moment, i’m just happy we won and we didn’t embarrass ourselves.

Amazing that we have a clear style of play already, and it didn't take 3 years and £1b
Very true. I realize ETH had his moments (including the FA Cup) but this is a bit of an indictment on him as we have controlled vast amounts of games against Arsenal and City now (something we didn’t often do under ETH),

Micah Richards having an absolute mare in regards to Rashford here
Painful wasn’t it.

Loved Keane’s contributions now and then like when Micah claimed Rashford was under more pressure because he isn’t surrounded by winners.

Keane straight in with “we didn’t start as winners, you have to earn the right to win games”

Beautiful.

I never thought we'd embarass ourselves but I didn't think we'd win either!

Great result but City are crap and if we had shown some urgency in our attack in the first half we could have been 2 or 3 up at halftime.

What’s happened with / between Rashford / Garnacho. Was glad they got dropped, surprised both not in squad.

1st half both teams were shite, city probably just about deserved the goal but it was a lucky deflection.

2nd half I am biased but Utd were the better team, were more dangerous, Hoijlund should have had a pen, not sure how it wasn't, doesn't get near the ball and puts his leg across Hoijlund, Bruno should have scored.

Amad's goal OMG I have been been watching Utd since the mid 80s, that goal is up there with some of the absolute best.

Goes to show the Attitude when Antony is clearly trying and in fairness has done ok under Amorim, but Rashford and Garnacho have thrown their toys out of their prams, if they aren't the leaks, then the actual leak must be rubbing their hands.

That signings comment was doubly dumb as he said "it's not quite comparable to the Casemiro, Antony window but it's getting there"...Casemiro was really good that season, Antony scored some important goals and we finished 3rd??

It was also literally 2 sentences after praising Mazrouri.

For someone who is supposedly both a football expert and a United fan he really is a clueless cretin

That's brilliant. Glad he's called him out. Walker should rightfully be getting slated for his actions.
Should have gotten 3 yellows, 1st for the challenge, 2nd for going head to head and a 3rd for simulation.... Actually he should have got a straight red for that simulation, hope the FA do him for unsportsmanlike, absolute disgrace

We executed a game plan very well today. Some fortune about the timing of the goals, but we deserved them and the result. Held City at bay for the most part, kept the ball for long periods of time. It was around the 60th min where you could see us clearly content to hold possession and draw City out, which is very impressive to be doing to a Pep team (even this current one).

I wasn't watching with G. Nev's commentary but if he couldn't see that, or can't see that signings like De Ligt, Mazraoui and Ugarte have clearly lifted our level, he's missing the plot. Today was a very impressive sign of progress from a team that had a new manager take over a month ago and probably hasn't had more than a handful of proper training sessions to implement a new formation and system. The fact that you can already see the evidence of that system, and that it just held City to .29 xG from open play at home, is very encouraging.

Yeah I agree, I worded it wrong but I do think the players I listed played particularly well but everyone else fought brilliantly too. We do seriously lack a bit of a cutting edge up front though, with young players inconsistent/still developing. Amad is really stepping up though.
It’s early days with the new system. I think once the players become more comfortable the quicker attacking play off of turnovers is really going to be something. Just a bit hesitant now.
