Ludicrous from Keane to say Maguire, a centre back should "expect" a bobbly ball from Zirkzee
He's a football player. Knowing what a football is going to do is his job. [/keane]

Sturridge doesn't do the Micah Richards shtick 2 with keano anything like as well (though Richards is absolutely a waste of a seat too)

Part of the concern is the runs he makes.
In the first half Bruno put in a great cross and he opted to run behind VVD (I think it was him).
A true poacher gets across VVD and scores it.
Not sure you can teach that but I thought he played pretty well overall
Højlund made some great runs today. Bruno wanted Højlund to run against the near post, and Højlund ran against the other post. But who is wrong or right here? Bruno had the chance to pass it to Højlund anyway. Højlund is doing great and the goals are going to come.

Because Oliver always influences the result against us. He’s a crook.
He didn't influence it today, I didn't see any really egregious decisions, maybe the Maguire booking but that was about it, under the current rules that was a handball, blame the rules not the official

The strikers need to shoot better or take better shots from difficult angles instead of passing.
The strikers we have are not capable of doing what you requested. Højlund on a good day, maybe. Zirkzee has as much chance as Maguire of finishing that. Think we’re asking him to shoot with his weaker foot, so if he checks back to get it on his left - the better option is play it across to two open players.

That is the level required. We have the ability. Never in doubt, but just the mentality. They need to have this game drilled into their minds. Someone call a feckin hypnotist!

Really happy with the performance. Now bring this same performance to the next game and the next and the next!!!!

Wish Maguire had scored there! But at least they played with pride and didn't fecking embarrass us.

United!
The fact we were wanting to win the game. First goal in and ETH would have tried to shut up shop.

Nothing happened to TAA, he's good at some things but defensively as a RB he's always been crap
Todays performance wasn't just him having a really bad day at the office. Quite sure we did something to challenge him more than it happens usually. Also he wasn't just off when off the ball, he also didn't do too well when on it. Doesn't take anything away from our players who were up against him. But the way he struggled definitely helped our strong performance. I am sure, tactic blogs will figure out what happened to him

Bruno's post match interview with sky sports is a much watch. Incredible interview, we clearly get the wrong impression about him with his gestures on the pitch because he's so humble and honest that his teammates must appreciate his quality of communication, maybe not during the match, but in general conversation
Bruno tends to try too hard when the going gets tough. Tries to do everything but I do believe he absolutely cares.

Was one of the few posters on here who wanted the game to go ahead.

We're always much better against Liverpool when no-one gives us a chance and they become complacent. We were the better side and should have won.

Hopefully we can now carry that performance forward.

One of a very few times in years where we have played well over the whole 90 minutes. Happy with the performance. Well done.

Referees like Oliver influence games with decisions like Nunez putting his shoulder into de Ligt's jaw and therefore not showing him a red card.

There were other Liverpool dirty fouls which were left unpunished.

Really proud of all the players. De Ligt is getting some stick and it’s understandable but I thought he played well overall, everyone did.

Bruno with a real captain’s performance.

Yeah I get we need points but it was right to go for a win. We actually expected to get battered today so this was a pleasant surprise but really do need the team to keep doing this. The best way to get rid of the nerves is just to keep working hard and shut everything else out.

Cracking game! Rumours of our demise have been greatly exaggerated.

But how on earth was Mo Salah awarded MOM? Scouse loving pundits for sure.

I thought Bruno and Ugarte were immense but Salah has a quiet game, scores a pen and earns MOM. Wtf?
WTF, Ugarte and Bruno were the best players on ythe pitch by a country mile, if it had to be a scouser then Mac Allister was their best player

I knew there was some reason why I support this club. All we ask is pride and passion when they put the shirt on.
Hope this is a start of something. Ineos need to back him somehow this window.

I would like to know why VAR didn’t have him review that foul. It was deliberate, a red card easily.

Yeah you can see his emotions very easily. Its a bit Ronaldo-like, however I never felt like after watching a Ronaldo interview I could have a conversation with him about football for hours. With Bruno that sounds like fun

Probably should have won that which is nuts. Liverpool weren’t really at it and if we were in a better moment I think we could have scored a couple more than we did. Shame!

I understand nothing of the criticism of Højlund today. Crazy. He misses a chance against a good goalkeeper, but otherwise plays a really good game. He has a huge work effort, holds onto the ball well, is physically strong and makes many good runs (as if he does with his chance). It's like some fans just need someone to shoot at.
He does have a good work rate and makes decent runs sometimes but have to disagree about holding the ball up well - I think he's absolutely terrible at it, he gets dispossessed a hell of a lot. His first touch needs a lot of work and his composure when finishing leaves quite a bit to be desired. I do feel for him being the lone man at times at a young age with no decent experienced strikers to learn his craft from.

Salah motm?
Well I never!
First off hats off to the manager & players.Really enjoyed that. We have played worse at Anfield and won.
Get a goalscorer in and watch us go I think .
I think Zirkzee should have gone for it himself at the end but whatever.
About time lady luck smiled on us again, it hasn't happened much lately.
Ugarte may motm.Mainoo, Dalot ( yes Dalot) Martinez, Maz, Amad & Bruno after that.

That was easily our best performance at Anfield since the Juan Mata one. Maybe our second best that I can remember. We never, ever play well there, it's usually either a bore or them hammering us even when we were on top and they were far behind us.

I hope this quietens the Amorim out crowd, if he can pull that performance, out of these players, after the month that we've just had, surely everyone can see that this guy is the real deal. Slot currently talking absolute garbage on Sky.

Good game, but it's meaningless really! We were similarly excellent against city in the final last season. We need to start beating the smaller teams, that's where the points are.

Still, very enjoyable and a big relief. Hojlund should be on loan and we should have two proper strikers on the books. He's crap.

Did he actually get it??

Joke

What the feck is this bald thing on about all we did was kick long balls?

Slot bullshits nearly as much as Klopp. Apparently they controlled the game for the first 75 minutes. What a Twat.

We are a finisher away from being really competitive!

Not having a finisher cost us the win but what a performance

I think we've been unlucky with Amorim. As much as we should sign a left wing back, I think our major issues come with our front 3. I think the system demands more quality from the front 3 in an attacking sense. Amad can provide it. I think Bruno shines more as an 8 in this system and doesn't fit either of the 2 10 positions. He can fill in, but not permanently. I think if we had a better more adventurous front 3, we would be a really strong team.

I think over time, with learning the system and some development (mainoo), Mainoo and Bruno can fill that no.8 position. I also feel that with a consistent back 3, the defensive errors that have led to the recent losses will be curbed out. I think we already have a good control of games when not playing Eriksen or Casemiro and I do believe we have the pieces defensively to be solid. I just feel that in attack, Hojlund, Zirkzee, Garnacho, Rashford and Antony require too much handholding for a system that expects creativity and flair from the front 3.
