Can a draw be a win?

When we play like that, it’s hard not to wonder why we can’t consistently hit those heights. Still, I couldn’t be prouder of the lads today.

What stood out even more than the performance was the mentality. Going 2-1 down could have broken us, but instead, we showed incredible resilience and were unlucky not to snatch the win in the end.

Hopefully, this is a foundation we can build on moving forward.
Full weeks training

Not a win but our best performance for the season no doubt. How do we bottle this and take this forward with us ? & why do we lift for the bigger matches yet show up lethargic for all the other matches?

Have to be proud after that. It’s fairly obvious what players have a future here and which ones don’t. Everyone worked their socks off today.

That Maguire miss was insane but that mental clearance (was it Martinez) to put us through I never want to see ever again

honest interview from bruno - admitting it's his first good 90 minutes for a long time

I understand nothing of the criticism of Højlund today. Crazy. He misses a chance against a good goalkeeper, but otherwise plays a really good game. He has a huge work effort, holds onto the ball well, is physically strong and makes many good runs (as if he does with his chance). It's like some fans just need someone to shoot at.
Part of the concern is the runs he makes.
In the first half Bruno put in a great cross and he opted to run behind VVD (I think it was him).
A true poacher gets across VVD and scores it.
Not sure you can teach that but I thought he played pretty well overall

What a great performance.
What a huge effort from the lads.
They didn’t let their heads drop when we went down to 2-1 and fought all the way, even with tired legs at the end.

From what we all expected, what all the pundits expected, we can’t be disappointed with this result.
The performance is what matters today.
Let the rebuild and recovery begin !

.

Sign of a not good team, game raising etc.

Maybe, but to be fair, I think the team has performed relatively well under Amorim overall. The real issue has been a lack of focus at key moments, leading to sloppy goals conceded. Those mistakes have consistently made it much harder for us to secure wins.

Really enjoying Bruno’s post-match interview.
He’s spot on.
Hopefully there’s improvement from now on.

That was actually pretty good to be honest. We played very good, pegged the Scousers to a draw, but I still don’t know how Maguire missed that chance though…

Proud of them today. Played for the shirt and with pride.
That's all I wanted from today, show some fight, but the quality of football we played was great.
We need to back the Manager, give him time to bring in his own players and I'm sure we're on the up.

Good point but they've proved they can more than compete with the best in the league so far so it just begs the question, why the hell are we languishing in the bottom half.
Because they revert back to their usual selves when Amorim doesn't have time to coach them.

Brilliant effort from most involved. If only Hojlund could finish and De Ligt not commit himself too easily we'd of had it. The exact determination and passion is needed in every game, not just derbies.

United are an emotional group of players, so it shouldn't be a surprise when they put in a performance like that!

The problem is more doing it every week, it usually 1 good performance followed by 2-3 terrible ones.

But they all get credit today, when they try they are very easy to like. Well done United!

Even I can't be negative after that one!

Bruno, Amad, Ugarte, Martinez, Dalot, Mazraoui and Mainoo all looked like actual players. Really fun game to watch.

This lot better not turn off again for upcoming matches!

Brilliant, we didn’t win but we showed fight and that’s what we need. Fight for everything. Ugarte, Maz, Mainoo, Martinez, Dalot, Maguire all turned up today. Passion, quality and desire.

Fantastic result, but much more importantly - great effort and great performance.

I would take this 2-2 over some shitty win, any day of the weak. Nice to have put a dent in Liverpool's title aspirations.

Need a striker. Its not just that hojlund doesn't convert the chance, its that because he is still learning his position, half the chances we create don't even count as chances because dangerous balls in are to no one, because he is just not where he should be.

Even a half decent striker would transform this team, and hojlund may have a chance of becoming a player for us in a couple of years time.
others missed better chances than Rasmus... he's living off scraps. Halaand would struggle to score if no one passed to him

Being able to train perhaps?

I can’t take xG seriously

We scored two
Had hojlunds chance first half
Maguire clear down the middle at the end
Amongst other efforts

xG is apparently 1.03
I thought that. Seems extremely low considering some of the chances.

The players outran liverpool today. That's the stat that stood out. They are finally putting in the effort.

The strikers need to shoot better or take better shots from difficult angles instead of passing.

others missed better chances than rasmus who is living off scraps

In his post match interview Bruno asking we can't we do this type of performance every week , that is what we are all asking Bruno.

He is not happy with the draw , he is right we need the points more than they do. He is aso warning that if we go back our usual form against Southampton we will drop pts again. He sounds like a supporter rather than a player

Pretty much nothing between sides. Could have gone either way.

First time (?) this year that I’m actually ok with players hard work.

Best player in the game? Martinez. What a performance.

I agree. Just need to build on it now. Please let’s get a bit of consistency now, especially against the so called lesser teams.

That's the best game I have watched for ages, two teams evenly matched and both really going for it. Both looked dangerous and creative throughout. It's amazing seeing that level of play that Man United and Liverpool are so far apart in the league.

Keep playing like that and you'll be back fighting for the top positions in no time.
