PL D FA Premier League

Liverpool 2:2 Manchester United

Post-match discussion

The lads were playing for pride and the shirt today, absolutely great to see. I think Amorim has shown that he definitely knows what he is doing, both tactically and in giving these overpaid bums something to fight for. Let the man cook.

Credit to the players, they were really up for it. Whatever happened to TAA this game, if it was us or himself, that really helped but overall, the players can be proud on themselves. There was nobody who stood out negatively, good games from Dalot, Bruno, Martinez and Mainoo. Great game from Ugarte. If only we could play with this level of intensity more often
Nothing happened to TAA, he's good at some things but defensively as a RB he's always been crap

Great performance, absolutely deserved that result and very unlucky not to win. Best we've played at Anfield in years.

Now keep it up. Every game is different but the players have just shown they can play with intensity and keep the ball when they want to. There's no excuse for not doing it against other teams now.

Really happy with the performance. Now bring this same performance to the next game and the next and the next!!!!

Wish Maguire had scored there! But at least they played with pride and didn't fecking embarrass us.

United!

Ruben's very disappointed with the previous 3 games. Need to suffer to win. Something off with the mentaility of the whole club.

Bruno's post match interview with sky sports is a much watch. Incredible interview, we clearly get the wrong impression about him with his gestures on the pitch because he's so humble and honest that his teammates must appreciate his quality of communication, maybe not during the match, but in general conversation

In his post match interview Bruno asking we can't we do this type of performance every week , that is what we are all asking Bruno.

He is not happy with the draw , he is right we need the points more than they do. He is aso warning that if we go back our usual form against Southampton we will drop pts again. He sounds like a supporter rather than a player

To be fair to Bruno he does seem like he cares and he does speak well most of the time. I think he's probably even more frustrated than we are when our performance is shit and especially when he plays bad

xG fails the eyetest today. We had some good chances, arguably as many if not more than theirs and yet it end up with double ours.

A really good, solid, organised performance. We deserved at least the draw and we could have won.

Hope we can try and keep this performance in our minds.

All you had to do was score Harry
It was a diabolical pass to a central defender.

One of the reasons we don't score enough goals is that we never have enough people in the box. Where were our front 3 and our midfielders?

The fact that it was Harry situated in the most attacking position of anybody points to one of our fundamental problems.

Don't blame Harry. Ask 7 or 8 other players where they were.

Saw the penalty again...why did de ligt raise his arm up so high? He wasn't even jumping.

In an interview on Danish TV, Peter Schmeichel asks how Amorim experienced having to play away at Anfield, where the atmosphere is intense. Amorim replies that he prefers Old Trafford - it's so much better. Class answer.

And then Amorim says that today it feels like the sun is shining a little.

Hopefully this shows that what Amorim needs is more time on the training pitch with the team. Not a perfect performance by any stretch, but we showed both commitment and quality, neither of which have exactly been on display in the last few weeks. This needs to be the minimum standard though.

Good point but they've proved they can more than compete with the best in the league so far so it just begs the question, why the hell are we languishing in the bottom half.
Because, hopefully, today was the day that we found our mojo - which until this game we had lost.

I’m happy with the game, and yeah, Anfield’s always been a tough place for us. But I’m not getting carried away. This kind of performance should be the bare minimum for a big club like ours against any of the big six. Honestly, our standards have dropped so much that we’re now just happy to see players giving their all. This shouldn’t feel like a bonus, it’s what they should be doing every single week.

Great result. Now let's carry that same attitude and application over to every game and we'll be okay.

How is it possible to play like this against Liverpool and City - and then perform like we did against Forest, Bournemouth and Newcastle....I just dont get it

Brainfart #2

Had another brainfart when Gakpo sold him down the line for his goal seeing that Gakpo scores that kind of goal all the time cutting back onto his right foot.

Amorim interviewed on Nordic Viaplay: Says he should be happy after this match, but his main emotion is still anger at the lack of fight in previous games. It's all about that, not systems. Great teams bring it every game, not just against the big opponents.

Peter Schmeichel asked him how it felt to play at Anfield. He just smiled and replied "I prefer Old Trafford". :)

Ludicrous from Keane to say Maguire, a centre back should "expect" a bobbly ball from Zirkzee

I’ve flip flopped over Ruben, I was furious that he talked about our club in a relegation battle however even after 5 defeats in the EPL in December, our two best performances in 2 years have been under him against City (away) and Liverpool(away), we must get him the two players he needs NOW, an elite left wing back and an experienced Centre Forward, if we back him, we will have a very good chance in the Europa League.

It’s clear Ruben wants Rashford, Casemiro, Lindelof, Malacia, Zirkzee and Eriksen moved on. We won’t get rid of all 6 in January However the club must be ruthless, and get rid of 3/4 and make sure we can buy the two or three players Amorim needs.

Really good performance that. Such a shame a) we conceded a pen and b) Harry kicked a field goal. Could have had all 3 but encouraging all the same.

Not a ‘were back’ false dawn but good enough to put the R word talk to bed.

Having all 3 midfield starters today not start v them? Makes a huge difference.

Special mention to Bruno, Ugarte, Mainoo and Martinez for a good performance.

Also Think Onana, Maguire and Mazaroui did okay.

It was an entertaining match, especially second half. If this Liverpool side wins PL it Will probably be the worst side to win it in modern history.

I love the bloke but he doesn’t half talk some shite at times. He’s like a dog with a bone when he gets a stupid take into his head.

Cracking game! Rumours of our demise have been greatly exaggerated.

But how on earth was Mo Salah awarded MOM? Scouse loving pundits for sure.

I thought Bruno and Ugarte were immense but Salah has a quiet game, scores a pen and earns MOM. Wtf?

I believe again....till next time. Great performance from most of the players and could/should have won it.

Ugarte, Maguire and Bruno excellent
Mainoo, Amad, Maz and Dalot good
Hojlund terrible
Garnacho offered nothing (his pass to Amad was more lucky than anything and he can't beat a bigger slower defender)
De Ligt mixed

Please buy some new players and let's have a good 2025.
