Manchester United 0:1 Juventus

Post-match discussion

Set up for 0-0 just like against Valencia. José clearly happy to take 0-1. Matic and Lukaku are just embarrassing. Utterly utterly spineless. Again.

Sticking a toothpick up your Japs eye will be less painful

Well guess that saves me some time. Was annoyed to see my tv on the channel, Juve celebrating the win when I turned it on was wondering whether to rewatch

We are probably the most poorly coached ‘big’ side in Europe. Against a seasoned European side like Juve it showed. We’re just going to sleepwalk until Mourinho’s exit.

We were a big side. Now file us under Milan, Liverpool of the 90s/00's etc

Anyone see the stat at the 75th min ... they run 5km more than us and had over 300 more passes whilst having 60%+ possession ... at old Trafford. They basically came here, took a dump and laughed at us whilst we walked around the pitch out of ideas.

Its shit, more shit, and nothing but shit.
We all know we should be moving on with another manager, but dickheads like Neville sticking up for boreinho keep him in the job and serving up more of the same shit.

These "big" games aren't even tense or exciting any more. For a long time now we've looked out of our depth at the highest level and it feels like we're just making up the numbers. Even when if got a good result it'd be hard to get excited because it always feels like we're a maximum of two games away from reverting to being deeply average.

Yep. Such a sad state these days. We look so far off the level required these huge games can't even excite.

There was a difference in levels. Again we wasted 45 minutes playing like some plucky low level relegation team but there was a rally of some sorts in the 2nd period. Still not acceptable really.
Attack was actually useless today. Absolutely useless. Lukaku and Matic are a disgrace.

Milan did that against Real Madrid back in 2010 as well. Italians don't like him much.
It's not the chant, it's fact it felt like it was coming from the home fans how loud and clear it was. That stuff usually doesn't happen at english stadiums

Missed the game. Is it worth it rewatching the full 90 or will extended highlights do?
Don't think it's possible to extend highlights of that game. Dybala scored a tap-in from a deflected clearance, Ronaldo had a shot saved & Pogba hit the post that nearly deflected in off their keeper. That's the highlights.

Rio's just said men against boys, and you can't disagree.

Lindelof did really well, Pogba was a threat here and there, Mata had a go, Dave kept us in it and the defence settled nicely in the second half.

That's it. Same old shite elsewhere, glaring deficiencies all over the place and no sign things will turn around.

Outside of the obvious ones, people have to understand that the modern game needs full backs who contribute.

Ashley Young is not ever going to contribute. Compare him to the other top teams full backs....

I have no idea how people are this salty. Personally I’m surprised we didn’t get hammered, it shows we are actually improving some parts of our play and squad are just awful though. Our right back position is a disaster, same with right wing

Juventus didn’t even attempt to kill the game off in the second half. Is that a sign of improvement from us or a sign that they knew that Mourinho didn’t have a fecking clue how to get us back in the match?

Big fan of this whole 3 figures to the oppo fans business though

Men against boys. The pertinent question is...are our players really this poor or are they badly coached? Whichever is the right answer, the club need to address it urgently. If we go into next season without doing so, we'll be in this wilderness a long time. This season appears gone already. Special mention to Lindelof...immense tonight.

Milan did that against Real Madrid back in 2010 as well. Italians don't like him much.

Well, he owned that league with Inter and won the treble. They're proper salty.

Sad thing is that with the newcastle and chelsea chelsea results jose is likely safe for a little while.

Absolutely pointless. The board will not back jose with big money in january given current climate and the way he's thrown his own signings under the bus. No big names will join watching the brand of football he turns out anyway.

We will just cruise thru a nothing season and hope not to make the top 4 to be sure he's gone.i really hate saying this about a club (note: not team ie the current incarnation) i have loved for 40 years.

Awful going forward largely to a an immobile 2 of a front 4 who didn't seem to wnat to get on the ball. Matic woefully out of form and continuously played regardless despite a number of players in his position not being given a chance to show what they can do.

One posative from the game is Smalling and Lindelof are starting to settle into a solid partnership.

I mean on one hand, I feel we somewhat Gave it a go in the second half against a far superior team. On the other hand, we're Manchester fecking United...how the standards have dropped.
Hopefully a turning point for VNL, him and Smalling are starting to resemble a partnership.
Lukaku is useless and I like the guy. Matic is old and should be playing a lot less, give Ander or Fred a chance to play in that dm role.
I genuinely don't think Chong would have been worse than Rashford on that right flank.

Huge gulf in class even though Juventus were not at their best and probably gave us too much respect on the pitch. In Turin they will rip us apart.

I think the problem is that we are just not that good of a side. We are decent, definitely above average, but not good.

Lukaku is an alright striker, but not a top player. Martial and Matic aren't consistent. Rashford lacks the technique. Mata lacks the strengh. Sanchez is weird. Our defense lacks a physical presence and Young (who fought like a lion tonight) was always just a fine squad option.
Even de Gea - while being the best shot stopper in the world - isn't intimidating at all.

Our only good (but sadly not great) player is Pogba. No wonder we lose against Juventus.

Any manager who persists with Matic, Lukaku and Young after that shite tonight deserves sacking. That was somehow worse than Sevilla, we actually got completely outclassed, that first half was just demoralising.

Who should he play instead of them? Serious question.

Lineker just said the words “Uniteds big stars” am I Missing something here.

Really enjoyed Crocodile Dundee. Top film, and perfect timing from E4. Utterly atrocious from us again. We look the same clueless bunch whether we play Juventus or Derby, which is how you know shit coaching is at the heart of this mess.

We didn't get hammered so something must be improving!

Martial still annoys me but 2 in the previous 2 gives him a bit of rope. Lukaku needs a rest!

When we attack we look like we put the shits up most teams … we just don't seem to do it often enough. Not sure if it's stamina or confidence but … there are some positive signs

That was an utterly embarrassing performance. It's getting to the stage where I think Mourinho would.be better off not coaching the side during the week. We're terrible under his methods.

Just look at how Jive always had a man free to pass to and how they could advance the ball up the field through simple off the ball movement and deft passing. United, on the other hand, were looking at the kick and run or speculative pass up the pitch. Crap.

There was a huge gulf in class between us and Juventus. Fecking Bonucci was acting as a winger in this game. Abysmal performance, which only highlighted the glaring shortcomings of this team. Lack of coaching is evident here, I hope we will soon part ways with the current manager, because after 3 years we look worse than when he started

Nowhere near as bad as being made out. But that's hysterical kids for you I guess.
