Post-match discussion

I have no idea how people are this salty. Personally I’m surprised we didn’t get hammered, it shows we are actually improving some parts of our play and squad are just awful though. Our right back position is a disaster, same with right wing

Missed the game. Is it worth it rewatching the full 90 or will extended highlights do?

Haha

Tbh I didn't see the game much, busy at work. But I doubt there is much in the extended highlights either.

At no point in that 90 minutes did that feel like a big European night. Just the normal passivity we’ve come to expect really. The game just happened, then fizzled out into a wet fart. Fecking shite.

Lindelof raised his game, good to see. Get fecked Lukaku. Some of the attempts at controlling the ball and his passing was fecking abysmal. We have to buy a striker in Jan.

What happened at OT, did juventus fans take over the stadium?!?!

Btw for those interested, at the end they were having a proper go at mourinho. "Mourinho uomo di merda", put it through google translate
They were complete dogshite until the last 2 minutes of the game.

Juventus is a class above us, so only 1-0 is actually a decent result. Games against Young Boys and Valencia are more important. De Gea and Lindelöf both excellent.

MOTM for me Lindelof. Friends with everyone Pogba. Same shit, different game.

Not bad. Lindelof looked great in second half. Lukaku hasn't shown anything. I'm glad we didn't sub because it wouldn't have made the team better. I'd like to see this lineup more often. Get some consistency.

Single out Lukaku and Matic for absurdly shit performances.

The rest can go into one big crap pile.

Except DDG I guess.

Completely uninspiring, once again the quality needed in the final third was missing and we looked a long way off being competitive with them.

Wish we would stop waiting until second half to start playing. And also, why persist with Lukaku? He contributes nothing! Pogba, Mata, Shaw and Lindelöf did well.

Lots of huffing and puffing but I don't think we created a single clear cut chance?

Juve got a goal and then just let us have the ball in the 2nd half, knowing we have no weapons to break them down

Rio's just said men against boys, and you can't disagree.

Lindelof did really well, Pogba was a threat here and there, Mata had a go, Dave kept us in it and the defence settled nicely in the second half.

That's it. Same old shite elsewhere, glaring deficiencies all over the place and no sign things will turn around.

All four defenders were good today, Lindelöf easily MOTM. Midfield atrocious (Matic, oof). Attackers even worse. Our attackers simply aren't good enough. Huge investments required for us to be competitive .

other teams play football, we destroy it. we literally play like we despise playing football.

Made to look foolish most of the game. Had a fairly good 10 minute spell in the 1st half, and again in the 2nd.

I don't think we've played a full top class 90 minutes under Mourinho, not just this season, but ever. We are decent in short bursts, sometimes excellent. We were a mix of okay and dreadful tonight.

Thought we should have had a penalty for that pull of the shirt on Lukaku. They were being given every other game at the World Cup.

Lindelof was excellent. Best game in a United shirt.

Boring, pointless, yet again.

You know they had a second gear in the second half. If we’d have scored they had another level.

Just tired of the crap, can’t do the basics. Even championship sides can cross the fecking ball. Every cross is overhit, underhit, doesn’t go anywhere, passes go directly to feet which makes us flat, we’re just an abysmal football team. Very depressing yet again.

Entire back line did well, Pogba at times showed why he should be playing for a better side. Martial looked our best attacking player, less said about Rashford, Lukaku and Mata the better

How to defend Manchester United: Overload the right side of your defense to nullify Shaw and Martial. Feel free to leave no one on the other side and allow Ashley Young to cross freely into the box all day, because God knows he's not gonna hit a good one. He'll most likely just float it over everyones head. Rinse and repeat.

Also, shocking we didn't make a change. We played better the second half but really could have used some fresh legs the last 15 minutes at least. Matic and Lukaku were awful. Same goes for Young. Rashford didn't get a chance to do much. Mata was better second half. Pogba and Lindelof probably our best players, along with Shaw. Martial was energetic but couldn't quite get anything to come off. Sad thing is he was still probably our best attacker.

Ugh.

Cowardly first half, mediocre second. Lucky it was only 1-0 tbh. Have no idea what Mourinho is trying to do, but it’s not working.

Horrendous performance. It could have been 4-0 easy if Lindelof and De Gea hadn't turned up. Matic and Lukaku absolutely disgraceful.

Any manager who persists with Matic, Lukaku and Young after that shite tonight deserves sacking. That was somehow worse than Sevilla, we actually got completely outclassed, that first half was just demoralising.

We just look clueless in all aspects of football: decisions, movement, pace, passing, defending, shooting, strength.

It’s just all round dreadful. We’re just an ‘okay’ team with awful coaching.

Lindelof stand out for me

Can't understand what the extra CL officials are for … if not spotting things like the push on Rashford at the end there. Not making excuses. They are favourites to win the CL and it showed. They did not manage to score 2 though, unlike Newcastle!

Valencia result helped us out

Laughably shit. The only surprise is that it wasn't even worse. Juve should've been out of sight at half time.

How anyone can defend Jose as a manager at this point, is beyond me. We don't even do the basics right. Can't attack, can't defend, can't press, can't entertain, no movement, no organization. What exactly do they do on the training field?
