Post-match discussion

I don’t think Dorgu should have got a red. He clearly got the ball and it was the follow through. Bad game for him tonight, but glad we found a way to win.

That’s all we need for the next few months. Wins in some form!
That's irrelevant, he went over the top of the ball and you cannot do that, it's endangering your oppponent, he was unfortuante, it wasn't deliberate or malicious but that's a red every day of the week I'm mostly surprised it took that long to decide

The people who are coming in here moaning about our performance are not United fans imo. How can you moan after a great effort like that? Most things that can go wrong in football happened tonight and we still win. Get in!

How we concede two from zero chances is beyond ridiculous.

Other then that, it was a good performance and showed character. Dorgu missing the next 3 is the next setback but hope we can finally pick up some momentum

Oh come on. So many posts referencing relegation. It was an impossibility before this win.

Interestingly enough had Everton been given a penalty against us and won that would have been shades of when we were relegated. If I recall correctly.

We were seen as too good to go down then as we had plenty of Internationals in the team.

NB: not that I believed we were going down.

That's the easy run of fixtures over.
Coming up in the league we have....

Arsenal (H)
Leicester (A)
Forest (A)
City (H)
Newcastle (A)
Wolves (H)
Bournemouth (A)

.

That should be enough to stave off any realistic chance of relegation. The 3 promoted sides are just too bad. The difference in class between PL and Championship is massive and getting bigger every year.
That was never ever going to happen. We haven't been anywhere near relegation. Don't worry about it.

16 clear of the drop! 5 pts from the dizzying heights of 11th. Football, bloody hell.

What a ridiculous game of football and somehow we’ve come away with a win. We had total control of the game before the red card and I thought we completely blew it before half time. But one great attack and a brilliant corner kick and we have flipped the script. The players could play great football today understandably but we showed excellent fighting spirit and we were superb at defending as a unit in the second half.

It might be a difficult few weeks with no attacking players in the wing back positions but it was an important game for Amorim at a really dark moment.

We've shown a lot of characters today which is good to see, but some issues remain. Onana is becoming a real liability, and we still struggle to create much. Anyway, think we secured our safety with this win.

Someone said it earlier in the matchday thread, can't remember who. We had a transfer window of Hojlund, Onana and Mount. €200m in fees. Horrific.

Some of the lads showed real fight tonight and put in a real shift. Bruno with a true Captains performance too but my god we have such little quality in this team, genuinely frightening. Thought Yoro looked brilliant btw, he's starting to look the part.

That was me, but I think a few have said it. Just absolutely mental. A single transfer window has set us back probably 3 or 4 years. That was the entire window, those 3 players.

Rasmus really has absolutely no awareness on or off the ball. How he loses the ball, doesn't know how to hold it up or link play, even how he let the ball run through his legs in the 2nd half when no other United player was in the box, instead of shooting was horrible.

It's shocking that he hasn't developed here. He was genuinely better when he first arrived with his movement and runs in behind.

Missing another 3 games is a harsh punishment for something that is more unfortunate than deliberately malicious though

Onana and Hojlund should just be dropped we are playing without a keeper and striker

I think result and general performance aside there is plenty to criticise Onana and Hojlund were both shocking

We did well to win that under the circumstances and and puts to bed any relegation talk thankfully. These 3 teams are the bottom are a different standard of poor this season.

Need to stop with these silly errors though.

He went over the top of the ball and planted the guy on the shin. There's no argument to be had really, straight red, easy decision for the referee and VAR.

A very good performance and even better result. I liked the first half which we dominated. I loved the second half how we defended well as a team.

I’m seeing the tide start to turn.

It's strange that we sit 14th, level on points with Spurs, yet they have scored 20 goals more than us. We're closer to 3rd than 3rd is to 1st.

Proud of the fighting spirit for sure. But wow, so many horrible performances. Onana has to be dropped. I'd drop Dalot but we can't with one of our top 3 players now out for 3 games.

We are fecked without Dorgu for 3 games and Dalot having to have him out there. He needs a rest or something.

Really thought Yoro might of had his best game, that was a highlight. Shout to Zirkzee too, well fought lad.

I can't believe he hooked Garnacho instead of Hojlund. Weirdesrt move I've seen Amorim make.

Leicester and Wolves aside, they are probably all defeats, but it won't matter now as today's result should mean we've done enough to avoid any further mentions of the dreaded 'r' word.

I don't like the football we play, but I did at least enjoy the fight and pride we've shown in the last two games. Standards are low I know.

He is off the ground, flying into it and out of control. It's not malicious, there's no intent, but it is still reckless and a stonewall red. Could have been a very nasty injury if the Ipswich player didn't have his leg a bit loose and studs off the ground.

Unfortunate but he'll learn from it. Same re first goal, was looking good despite that setback.

I think our pool of strikers Hojlund and Zirkzee have the worst decision making of any group of strikers in the premier league.
