Back 4 of Valencia-Jones-Rojo-Blind tonight and we would have been so much better.

But with Bailly returning from AFCON and Shaw back in the squad, hopefully we will never see a back 4 of Darmian-Jones-Smalling-Rojo again

That was poor. Mourinho's football seems very "hit & miss" to me.
Overall, I understand the posts claiming it is "entertaining" but I feel we are too reliant on instinct in attack, it seems he has given them the freedom to construct the play as they see fit, which is good, but this much freedom sometimes makes it look messy as we don't occupy the right spaces to open up a regrouped defence.
I wonder if the fact that we are so reliant on instinct is the reason why we miss so much as we tend to snatch at chances. Thus the "hit & miss".

I don't think his football is hit & miss. I think he just didn't care tonight. Even Hull's 2nd goal, if he really wanted to win the game, he could have ringed 2 more changes and we could have at least drawn. There's no way he could have approached the game stupidly like this if this was a league game with 3 points at stake.

Getting tired of seeing us produce absolutely nothing on the wings unless it's a Valencia overlap. Meanwhile the player that can beat players easier than anyone in the squad (Martial) can't get a game.

Although United were a bit flat tonight I thought Hull played pretty well considering the amount of trouble they've had recently. New manager, hardly any players, no cash. Fair play to em.
They look a lot harder to beat for sure, think that's 3 wins in a row at home for them. Keep this up and they'll stay up, which is amazing considering how much shit their squad has gone through.

Love Jose but seriously some of his team selections are starting to piss me off. He moans about giving Martial a chance, but how many is he going to give Lingard? And what way is Rooney a better option on the left that Martial, or Mata?
Couldn't agree more

Ending the unbeaten run away to Hull, fecking donkeys.
That was such a weak performance, terrible from start to finish.
Play like this and Wigan can prove a big test for these players on sunday

Exactly the opposite, this was the one game where we didn’t need that run going, as we went through despite it ending.

We lost to Hull. Hardly a confidence boost is it. They also highlighted our weaknesses, shite at corners and can't handle the press.

We have to get rid of the likes of Darmain and I'm sorry Smalling. They are so crap on the ball it's untrue and hardly reliable in defence.

Through to the final and that's about the only good thing to say. Shame for our unbeaten run to go like that and hopefully we don't see a perfromance like that again.

Yeah, that was crap and it sucks. However those runs don’t really mean anything, points and going through in cups do.

Lets hope we don't see Smalling and Darmian ever again, I'm 100% convinced both will be axed this summer.

The unbeaten runs means nothing to me. We're going to Wembley and we'll be fired up for it.

Hopefully we don't underestimate Hull on Feb 1st. They've shown they can score against us and that's the more important game not to lose.

Smalling had a poor game but much more forgivable than Darmian as he has shown plenty before and is short of match sharpness.

He's put the focus on him and the referee without mentioning the referee.

Fair point. I just think the less talking points from tonight the better.

It is pretty funny that Jose doesn't feel he can trust himself not to have a go

Awful management, awful performance. I know redcafe has almost turned into a dictatorship re: criticising mourinho but you have to question the character of a manager who will play lingard over martial, and let superstar players put in half arsed performances like that without retribution. Shocking stuff from the pathetic one.

 Dearie me.

We were shite tonight and I think it's fair to say we're in a sticky patch right now. It's been 3 underwhelming performances in a row and it's never nice to lose whatever the context.

Still though, we're in the final.

Herrera once again had another bad game. Future captain? lol. He has to be replaced in the starting XI in the summer.
This is becoming clearer as the games go by. I'm a massive fan of him especially his personality but the truth is he doesn't contribute enough attacking wise, he's not positionally sound or strong enough defensively and he lacks the ability to control the game.

He should be a rotating player as he's not good enough to be guaranteed a starting spot IMO.

True that Carrick,Ibra and Pogba should be setting the tone as senior players and the tone they set was 'feck it's a bit cold isn't it, is it over yet?'

That performance came across as a bunch over overpaid arses who didn't want to try a leg at all. Take out Moss, who was abysmal, and that was as bad a performance as i have seen in a long time.

Darmian and Smalling are so bad on the ball it is scarcely believable. Not convinced either player has a long-term future in a side with aspirations above utter mediocrity. The Darmian-Rojo fullback combination is also about as bad as it gets in terms of attacking prowess. Useless.

Very happy, terrible performance and result, but a good kick up the arse with no negative consequence.
Yup, if we were going to have our worst performance of the season, I'm delighted that it came in the one match where it didn't matter.

Marco Silva has really galvanised Hull. Fair play to him, he seems a likeable character. They played pretty good over both legs.

Well I, for one, am happy. It's disingenuous to Hull to say we should definitely be beating them, they look a good team to me under the new manager. Obviously the performance was disappointing, but do people seriously expect us to play incredible every game? Look at the slumps Man City and Liverpool are in. I think we can forgive a poor second-leg performance in the league cup semi final, considering we have made it to the final. We'll be favourites for the final and Jose has a good record in them (P12 W10).

The first game in God knows how long that we have deserved to drop points.
