Gaming Pokémon Strumfest

It doesn't look like Niantic are working on it so there's that at least. Looks like it might get boring though if there aren't battles but Nintendo games are seldom boring.
There are battles, just no wild battles, ie. You can battle other trainers and there'll probably be gyms and Elite 4.

Good points, I mean, at worst it should be fun.

I watch a vid where they said if if you're not into that Go stuff, though, it can be played close to a regular Yellow remake.

Would rather have a HD remaster of yellow/crystal/emerald all in one game. That would be the tits.

Breeding is the biggest waste of time ever. I remember spending hours, days, months in the mid-noughties reading guides and tutorials trying to master IVs, natures and all the other nonsense to no avail. Good riddance.

Shut your stupid face:mad:

I bred a team of near perfect(no need for 31 attack IV's on a special attacker, etc) IV pokemon, competitive movesets, the lot. It was kinda fun how ridiculously OP they were for in game battles.

EDIT: Actually, if I remember correctly, you don't even need 31 IV's, as the way it's all calculated means 30 works out the same attribute wise.

I guess it is a little weird to not enjoy the battling much, I just really enjoy exploring the world listening to the music, so interruptions of that gets annoying :D

To be honest, while I was taking the piss, it's not exactly untrue. I loved customizing the cars, but hated the racing/simulation aspect. I prefer more arcadey/action(*cough* fun... *cough*) racers like Sonic, Mario, Crash, or Burnout.

Was this confirmed? I didn't see that stated anywhere...

Can You Breed Pokemon? What About Competitive Battles?
There is no Pokemon breeding (and therefore no eggs) in Let's Go Pikachu and Let's Go Eevee. Though battles against NPCs and other players follow the same turn-based format as the core Pokemon games, it's not yet clear how stats work. That means that competitive Pokemon players, who rely on breeding Pokemon for good IVs (individual values, or starting stats) and training for the correct EVs (effort values, or stats earned through battles), may not have as much to work with in the Let's Go games. That said, Masuda did mention during our Q&A session that the Let's Go games are like any other main Pokemon RPGs in that they're both "accessible" but with "depth" for those who want it.

The official competitive Pokemon series, the VGC, is currently played using Ultra Sun and Ultra Moon. When asked what game players will be competing in next year, representatives of The Pokemon Company did not comment.

Looks like a very streamlined experience then! I'm still pretty excited, but no wild battles and no breeding are going to be very alien for me.

However, I am somewhat happy about these changes. If they work and the replacements are good enough to cause less of a 'grind', then I'm all for them continuing in future installments.

Haha yes agreed, I find realistic racers and or sims boring. Give me some weapons or something and I'll be happy :D

If anyone missed the gameplay they showed post e3 direct:
- Pokemon team gain exp when you catch a wild pokemon.

- They said they changed a bit in the story to make it freah, that was apparent during a conversation with the rival character.

- There are Gyms, they showed Brock, Gyms look different and with an audience, very cool.

- Showed the trainer riding an Onix, you can ride any big Pokemon, looked very very cool, Onix looked huge next to a wild Ratata.

- Didn't see this but read that they confirmed you can catch starter Pokemons, ie someone found Bulbasour in Viridian Forest.

- Pokeball Plus comes with a Mew that you can put into the game, you can choose the Pokemon inside the Pokeball.

- Looked a bit easy, there's a new technique in training, if you send a Pokemon to Oak's lab you get candy, and depending on it's kind you can raise a certain stat of the pokemon you want to train.

- You need to catch pokemons in order to move them from Pokemon Go.

- You can pre-order game+Pokeball+ bundle for 80$

Here's the full video:

I'm totally sold.

Thanks for that I turned it off after the showreel.

You can catch Pokemon in handheld mode, which is better as I play my switch like that most times.

Having thought about, the game looks decent, but it feels unnecessary. Pokemon Go was an OK game but they should have left it at that. Most fans wanted a console version of the original games, that should have been priority and maybe they could have released that this year. This game feels like they're milking the cow.

I’m with you to be honest, I can see myself skipping this game and holding out for the proper version next year.

I mean I’ll obviously still buy it who am I kidding. But reluctantly

No you won't .

Neither will I, Nintendo can have my money. In fairness, I haven't laid a finger on my switch since I beat Ganon last Spring.

They need to make a proper open world pokemon game, that would be the tits.

I'm not really interested in this at all to be honest.

*pre orders both editions*

 - i know some of you guys are really into the Pokemon franchise.

I loved the games as a kid, but why get both? Purely for the collection factor - I assume the games are exactly the same? I know with Red/Blue, Sun/Moon there was a different starter / legendary to catch, but surely it gets very repetitive to simply play through the exact same story / location etc etc...

Not wanting to get thrown out of the thread here, but genuinely curious in case I am missing something that may influence whether to get the Pikacu / Evee version myself.

Really wish the wild battle mechanic hadn’t changed. Honestly, I would have preferred a straight up remake.

It looks so great but I just don’t see how the new mechanics can be seen as an improvement and is nothing more than a gimmick.

I’m assuming he’s joking, I’ve only ever bought one of them and with online trading these days there’s even less reason to get both as the version exclusives are easy enough to get.

It will only be for this game, other improvements are enough for me to be interested in this.

Indeed, just taking the piss. I did used to do it back before online trading though, for version exclusives and that.

Even the type weaknesses are more or less the same.
and we’re committed to keeping random factors out of battles. We’ve seen the frustration that random elements cause, especially in the competitive scene, so we’ve decided to remove them and have made the combat 100% skill and strategy based.
The random elements and competitive scene of what?

This game looks like it was built by competitive Pokémon players that think they can do it better. Most of the ideas are interesting, but I think the presentation of it is just a bit shite, as well as the name. Everything points toward a big disappointment. But I'll probably get it just to see anyway

Agreed with every point you've made, even the "probably get it" one...

It is made by the same crowd that done Immortal Redneck, and that's supposed to be good, at least.

Just found this box from a few years ago (old picture)

I don't remember any of the cards in there so going through them is like opening them for the first time again :D

It's making me want to get some new packs though...

Interesting... why not try to sell them before opening?

There's actually a Pokeman games thead here. :D Thought I was from the minority. I have played through all the generations so you can consider me a hardcore fan.
