Gaming Pokémon Strumfest

Ordered from an online store locally because they were selling it for much cheaper. I should have opted to collect it in store instead of choosing for the delivery option.
Ah. Can't you ask them if you can pick it up instead? I assume it's sent from the same place, so might not be a problem?

Okay, so I'm at Viridian Forest and that battles are really, really easy. I hope they haven't scaled this down too much.

It does get a bit more challenging but it’s never gonna be tough I don’t think, but like any of the games if your level is enough and you have the type advantage it’s never hard.

Brock especially has always been easy with his Pokemon’s huge weaknesses

The pokeMon you start with is definitely OP it feels like already, from reviews I’ve read you can definitely make your team pretty much invincible.
Higher base stats than they should have, and I believe fixed perfect IV's.

This candy system is weird, I've a level 24 Gloom that has between 180 and 210 in every stat.

Yeah it’s wild on the stats

Eevee is great too can learn loads of different types of move to cover almost all weaknesses and is normal type so only weak to fighting.

I went with Pikachu(because Oddish are a version exclusive), but Eevee seems bonkers, with all the special moves they've given it.

Pikachu gets this 50 power Electric attack called Zippy Zap, that always crits, and always hits first, so it's basically Thunderbolt and Quick Attack combined.

Yeah there’s a 90 power psychic move that also provides light screen, 90 power water move that restores 50% of the damage dealt and a 90 power fire attack that always burns. It’s mental.

It's getting a little harder. I forgot how time consuming this game can be Mt. Moon exploration took ages.

It's such a cool re-imaging of yellow, even though it'a mainly for kids it's still so cool.

I can't stand the catching side as it takes away all of the technique, and it's stupidly balanced in terms of xp because you just get way too much and it renders picking a party almost entirely pointless.

Random battles though, what a delight they've stopped that! For the next main game, they should go back to the traditional battle/catch system, cut out shared xp entirely and keep the random battles exactly like they are in this. That would be perfect.

Pretty much feel the same as you do on what they do for the next game. This new way of encountering Pokémon make caves and swimming a much better experience than they are in every other game. Makes the world feel much more alive too.

Seems obvious now, but I've just figured if you want to combo or evolve (like I'm doing with kakuna) but don't want to stupidly over level your pokemon, you can clear the party (including starter) and put some random one in you won't use to get all the xp.

Please tell me one of you feckers got the Pikachu version so I can get everything when I get my Eeviee version.

Yeah I got Pikachu.

Even you might not want to stupidly overlevel this game though ;)
I stupidly overlevel everywhere. It's what I do!
On a serious note, I've heard the master-trainers are somewhat challenging?

Exactly ;) But as I said above, there is a way around letting it get out of hand.

Hopefully. I'll be a long way off though, because as usual I'm spending way to much time grinding for decent pokemon. If you combo them in this game, you get higher chances to get decent variants including shineys. That's the kind of grind I like :)

From what I've read, the master-trainers show up after you beat the elite 4. They have one pokemon at high level and you have to fight them with that pokemon, so it gives you more incentive to catch them all.

I have pikachu
Nice. :)

Apparently you can get any gen 1 pokemon from Pokemon Go transferred into Let's Go....

This is honestly game-changing. I hope they keep this for the main series game next year.

Problematic for me as I can't play pokemon go due to being disabled. :)
But I assume i can trade over the internet, so that will fix the problem.

I actually nearly lost to Misty! I had to use a revive and 2 potions, that's a first in any pokemon game

To be fair, I've artificially held my Pokemon back so they were all level 11 apart from 1, and Starmie does have a ridiculously OP move. It's nice to know there's a way to keep the game at least a little challenging, abeit a forced way.

I don't really want them to have Go incorporated into the main games but I like what lambs suggested above about the random battles.

Excuses, excuses ;)

Scald man, Scald. It's even more buffed it seems!

But yeah, I highly recommend to people (who aren't @Ødegaard of course) to switch out to a single unused Pokemon when hunting so you don't over level. The game still throws pathetically weak trainers at you (seriously, level 3 Rattata close to mt moon??) but you can still have it a little bit challenging and more fun.

It really does.

Also love riding about on larger pokemon, zipping around the world on a Charizard is far more fun than a bicycle.
