Philippe Coutinho

Barca can go get fecked. They just sold one for £200m and demanded all the money up front and are now trying to penny pinch. I'ts alright for people saying we should take they money and reinvest it. What money?. £113m of which around £30m is in very unlikley achievable add ons. The other £80m spread over 5 years. If they want him as badly as they are making out then cough up the £113m all at once up front.

On another not where are all these stories coming from in regards to him never wanting to play for Liverpool again or that he is on strike even that he has had a turbulent relationship with Klopp for the last 6 months? If it was that bad why resign? I know he wants to go and that he has handed in the transfer request but other than that everything else I have read has either originated from some report out of Spain or a family member back in Brazil.
I'm not saying he has not said any of this just that I have not seen any direct quotes from him or his agent.

Yeah this. feck Barca, I hope they end up with neither Coutinho or Dembele and finish 5th.

Seems to me that he is staying. Shame. I was hoping that he will go. And liverpool can't buy better player than him no matter how much money they get .
Now he will say sorry, sign new contract and that is that.

He'll be gone before the end of the window.

Philippe Coutinho is reportedly seeking clear-the-air talks with Liverpool after Barcelona gave up on trying to sign the Brazilian.

Barca failed to make a breakthrough in their attempts to replace Neymar with the Liverpool attacker and The Independent claims the player is ready for talks to settle any potential bad blood.

It’s understood Liverpool rejected three bids from the Catalans with the final figure believed to be a £118million offer, which in fact proved to be just £82million up front with the rest in add-ons.

Barca had imposed a 7pm Sunday deadline on Liverpool to agree to an offer that they had already rejected 48 hours earlier. The Reds sporting director Michael Edwards ignored their deadline as Liverpool stuck to their stance that the player was not for sale at any price.

It now looks almost certain that Coutinho will remain at Anfield, despite himself submitting an emailed transfer request to the club.

The Independent claims Coutinho’s camp will attempt to shift the blame for the saga on to Barca.

Their report says: “People within the 25-year-old midfielder’s entourage are pointing the finger at Barcelona for manipulating their client and have suggested the Nou Camp club used family members to provide additional pressure. They insist the ill-conceived email was Barca’s idea.”

Now though, Coutinho and his representatives are ready to accept that a move is not going to happen, which leaves the player in an awkward position as he prepares to return to the Liverpool fold.

The 25-year-old has yet to return to full training at Melwood and he will not be involved against either Hoffenheim on Wednesday night or Arsenal on Sunday.

Whatever it takes, Phil.

You've still been a right nitwit about all this, but the sooner you report back the sooner we all get over it, right?

Still think liverpool should inquire about draxler and if he's available, ask barcelona for £130M or £90M plus Rakitic...

It seems very important to the press that his transfer request was submitted by email. I don't get the significance, other than they have no other information and are trying to appear informed. Is email supposed to suggest a lack of respect, or a lack of personability or something? Or that the player is smart enough to understand email? Or perhaps that the player is stuck in the past and should have used whatsapp? Seems bizarre to me.

He's a good player, and I'm mostly glad he's staying in the premier league (if indeed he does). I always prefer to win (or lose) against strong teams. Prefer watching good players on MOTD too.

I'm always amazed how seemingly childish these types of situations play out many times. You d figure with all the supposed professionals involved they can be adults about this. To be fair to Pool - this seems mostly Coutinho s own making. Him now trying to blame Barça for it (though I'm sure their hands aren't completely clean) - is laughable.

If Liverpool sell Coutinho and manage to sign Van Dijk, Keita and Draxler, it will be good business.

But let's be honest, they're more likely to sign Nathan Redmond and Shane Long.

I saw an agent saying that most transfer negotiations these days are done via Whatsapp. I guess though you want a transfer request to be more "formal" similar to handing in your notice, and emails are the modern equivalent of a letter hence the term email (electronic mail). I agree, I don't get the importance of this.

Liverpool will keep him. It's too late in window to replace him. They will not want to look like a small club. Will probably sell him a year from now for 100 million and replace him with Pulisic.

Carrier pigeon is the proper way to do it.

Be interesting if they keep him to see how arsed he is.

You look at the Brazil squad and there's no way he isn't starting in it, even if he's crap for Liverpool this year.

I do think they should of sold him, got another midfielder in and sorted there woeful defence out.

118m for 85m plus adds on. I dislike Liverpool, but that offer is a bit too low. Missing out Top 4 alone could cost them 50m. Not to mention, they have to get new player that most likely be overpriced, knowing Liverpool have the cash.

Don't forget they wanted to pay the 84m in annual installments over five years. I loathe Liverpool, but even I don't blame them for ignoring Barca's deadline and final offer. It is laughable. But that's what they do once the player they want starts kicking up a stink, they assume the role of believing they have all the power to dictate the final terms. Disgusting club.

It speaks volume that Liverpool can't keep hold of their best players even with the promise of playing at the Champions League.

Bear in mind that we managed to keep De Gea away from Madrid without European football :)

The Spanish giants will table the offer, worth £101m up front to Liverpool with an extra £37m in bonuses for the 25-year-old, on Wednesday.
That's a fair offer.

Barca really desperate here. Wonder how Liverpool react to the offer. Can't blame whatever they decided to do either way really.

It'd funny to see Liverpool lose their best player again after Suarez, but on the other hand it'd also be funny to see Barca miss out on their marquee signing and effectively disrupt the whole club. What an unfortunate situation

Jesus christ, 140 mil for Philippe fking Coutinho?! Liverpool would be stupid not to take this and run to the bank. Even if this season is a write off, they could invest heavily in the next year and address multiple weaknesses.

When everyone from kyle walker to lukaku to morata is being signed for 50miln to 90miln, coutinho price is fair enough specially when the move is being forced onto Liverpool.
