feck Coutinho. Liverpool are within their rights to say no, considering he signed in January.

Btw, most of the CAF was rooting on BVB when Barca were making 100m+ offers for Dembele.

Now you're questioning LFC for turning down an 80m + impossible add-ons.

Bunch of hypocrites.

Liverpool should sell Coutinho and use the money to get Draxler. Why have a malcontent on their bench.
Draxler wouldn't want to go there IMO. Liverpool is sort of almost like a dead end club. I say that in the sense that if you sign for a club in Italy or Germany there is often a reasonable sale price when you hit that elite level but in England (especially among the top 7 clubs) the prices are extortionate and your only big money option is PSG, Barca or Real Madrid since you won't willingly sell your prize asset to another top team and Bayern don't quite pay these outrageous fee's. Most modern footballers will not see Liverpool as the pinnacle rather a stepping stone and wouldn't want close so many doors.

Fully within their rights to ask as much as they want. We'd end up selling for 60m

We just want to see Liverpool embarrass themselves and fail.

Is there any reliable source for the title? What he said to Klopp?

Plenty of ManUtd fans questioned Dortmund for rejecting 100 plus million bid for Dembele, samething with Coutinho. You see what you want to see, simple as that.

What are these impossible add ons btw?

Martial hasn't done well here. Not "60m pound well" anyway.

He scored the other day so I wouldn't sell him this window but let's not act like he was ever absolutely outstanding and would command a 120m fee. That's delusion.

How did he do his first season upfront? If you don't call that a good season from such a young guy who was playing upfront compared to now; there is some bias in your views.

It's not hyporcisy, it's basically they hate us and vice versa in a football rivalry sense, so United fans are pro Barca on this one, where as with Dembele I am sure some are hoping they fail so we might have a chance next summer, but given his behaviour I am not so sure the club would fancy it.

Please tell me Im not the only one who thinks Coutinho isnt worth half the quoted figure?

I said it about the Neymar transfer that if a club is willing to pay x amount for a player then that's what he's worth.

Values relative to quality have gone completely irrelevant now, it's simply about how much any team can get for any given player.

No, there's lots of people think the same, the idea of him costing over double what Arsenal paid for Alexis Sanchez is laughable, Coutinho is not even in the top 20 players in the world.

Not sure why many are saying that Liverpool are stupid for not taking the money. They still have all the power; transfer request or not, and they can still milk Barcelona for more.

It's really late in the transfer window and knowing Barcelona are really desperate has played into their hands perfectly. Everyone knows Liverpool don't rely on Coutinho as they did Suarez and is more replaceable.

Liverpool are probably not even bothered whether Coutinho staying will affect his performance or affect the dressing room. If Coutinho stays watch him plead with the fans and they will forget everything instantly, fans are very fickle like that. Also Coutinho can't sulk this season if he stays as he has to play well to get into the Brazil squad which will also play in Liverpool's hands.

Barcelona will get royally fecked here.

How you perceive a transfer is dependent on whom you're favouring. In a battle between Dortmund and Barca, I'd back Dortmund just to stick it to Barca.

Between Liverpool and Barca, I'd want Liverpool to come out with a bloody nose. Feck being self righteous about it, all's fair in love and sport.

Barsa and Liverpool. 2 clubs I really dislike going at it like a bunch of drama queens. Enjoying this immensely.

I'm supporting Liverpool in this. They don't want to sell and they shouldn't. Let him rot in the reserves. Players need to respect their freaking contracts.
Normally I'd agree with you but I'm being hypocritical here: this transfer weakens an arch enemy and isn't great for Barcelona either.

Woukd make our title challenge abit easier if he left. Then again, if they are smart, £110 could buy you 2 great players.

I think they can hold out until 150 m , Barcelona should be rinsed so they could not sign both of them together.

I agree. Best case scenario is spending an obscene amount of money on Coutinho on the last day of the window preventing them getting Dembele and also stopping Liverpool getting decent replacements in. We can dream.

I really don't think Liverpool are our biggest concern if we're aiming for the title to be fair. They'll be irrelevant if we are in the title race.

I can't comprehend why you would offer and/or reject over £100m for him. I'm legit stunned.

At least you know, Neymars insane marketability over 10 years and the fact he's clearly top 3-5 tier would allow me to somewhat swallow up the £200m deal for him. But Coutinho is neither of that....he's bite their hands off for £80m in an inflated market while you can. Next year he's back to being a £45-50m signing.
He'll get sold with 2 or 3 days left in window, to maximise the fee ad well as guarantee incomings.

Liverpool scouts and agents connected with club must be very busy right now!

It will make getting 4 or 6 points of them much easier which may end up being the difference to winning the title.

Great post.

We got Lukaku and Matic for that. It can be done, if they are smart and can persuade players to come.

We have a different pull compared to liverpool and matic waspurely a mourinho factor, and also the targets liverpool were after were too expensive too, something like 70 and 80 m.

Please understand the dilemma of a Utd fan.
One one hand we want Pool to lose a good player
At the same time we are happy Barca, who tap many players are not getting their way in any deal they want

We cheer on both sides :wenger::wenger::wenger:

What's with the sensationalist thread heading?!

When and where did Coutinho say he will refuse to play for the dips?

I can't stand Barca and think it would be very good for them. Also I'm a bit of a PL fan boy so would rather have the PL retain some quality.

If i were Barca.. I will hold on the money till the market subsides till jan or next season..still messi and suarez a formidable force.
