Or one Griezmann.

Oh you hadn't thought of that had you? Deal with it.

Griezmann wants his next move to be to join one of the elite clubs in world football. So that's Liverpool out of the running regardless of money.

Bit embarrassing if he leaves after that FSG statement. But hey ho, you can't look the other way when they wave 100 mil at you, I suppose.

Even if they pay 100m, its still embarrassing for FSG. Who are they going to buy to replace him?
They couldnt even get Van Dijk or Keita.

It's kind of odd that Barca are so hot on him.

One of his biggest strengths is shooting from distance, something that is actively discouraged at Barca.

You'd notice the lack of long range shots Suarez has scored for them in comparison to his Pool days.

Are you sure? Surely if Suarez has shown (and he has) that he's capable of scoring from long range then why would Barca discourage it?

Utd top of the league. Liverpool losing their star player. What a beautiful time to be alive

I don't think he has been consistent enough to be their star player. He is their most talented player alongwith Mane but Mane has been performing better since he came.
Of course he is a loss but he is not a devastating loss like Suarez or Torres for ex.
The bigger problem is replacing him, not many options out there are they?

What a strange situation, Barcelona without Neymar and with no real replacement of Iniesta is a club that is losing its football, and he wants to go there?

Because Barca like to keep possession and probe for an opening rather than turning over possession with long shots.

What's the latest with this one? Does it look like happening?

Part of me wants him to fck off to Barca and hear the fans boo when they realise he's no Neymar or Iniesta. But the head says we need to keep him for one season because we're hardly overflowing with decent midfielders. Hope Barca lose the tie 7-1 to ram home the reality for a Brazilian.

eh, i think liverpool's star players are firmino and mane, coutinho grabs the headlines with the odd cracker here and there, but firmino and mane are more consistent have a bigger influence on their performances/results

I think he burned too many bridges even to stay in england. Shame tidy little player, a bit over rated, but with firminho and sane around, its easy to be rated. Liverpool will be fine.

Good players are the ones that think they can make a difference. If the club was completely collapsing, fine, but it's not. Coutinho and Dembele will be looking at Barca and seeing an opportunity to make their mark, an opportunity that's relatively rare.

They have a choice as a club. They don't have to sell. They had that choice. Maybe [their] objectives have changed. They were on course to be a Champions League club, I believe, but obviously, that has changed.

This whole sage has just reiterated what absolute morons Barca were to leave Neymar's release clause at £200m.

They can't put whatever they want there, Neymar has to agree to it. That goes for any release clause really as every club would rather put it at a bil or every player.

Agreed, it just keeps going onion and onion

The best thing about spellcheck on phones is that it's probably led to a 6000% increase in puns like this.

Well look at the number of top players in Spain with silly release clauses. If Neymar was insistent on one that was in reach of the oil money clubs then alarm bells should have been ringing straight away and Barca should have already been lining up a replacement, rather than scraping around in August paying over the odds for one.

Who are they?

No one really thought a clause of 200mil+ would be activated tbf to Barca.

Might be new though.
I don't think he scored that much outside the box in previous seasons.

Ronaldo, Bale, Benzema, Isco, Modric, James Rodriguez, Marcelo, Kroos, Alba, Iniesta, Turan, Vermaelen, Suarez.

Neymar's release clause was stupidly low compared to some of those. Still silly money, but probably not even double his market value when you take in to account his ability, age and marketability.

I maintain that Barca with all their experience should have seen the possibility - however unlikely - of that happening and prepared for it. They haven't whatsoever.
