This is what I think. He'll want to move, but sort of have an agreement in place and he will sort of understand that he has to stay as you haven't got anybody lined up to cover his loss. It may affect his performances if his head is elsewhere we'll see.
It depends on Coutinho though, if Barca come and tell his agent "It's this year or never, if he doesn't want to come we will go and buy Player X, we would love Coutinho to come he is a special player ready for a special club...blah blah blah". Will Coutinho want to take the chance he misses out on Barca. If he doesn't go where would he go next year? The only step ups would not be considered by Liverpool, and I imagine that Coutinho wouldn't want to consider another option. Its all going to depend on how much they can convince him.

His Back Problem, is that he is Back in Liverpool that's the Problem for him... :)

I have a feeling in the coming days Liverpool are going to try and picture themselves as strongly adamant to sell in the media while pushing forward the idea that Coutinho is villain of all sorts before the inevitable happens so they can save their face in front fans. Pretty standard tactics.

erm, well so far it's been a picture of being pretty adamant we aren't selling so, interesting theory....

It'd be hilarious to see Liverpool's reaction if ex Barcelona players now started going to the media and advising Coutinho to agitate for a transfer or to go on strike to force the issue.. :)

It's all posturing. Liverpool aren't going to say "Yes we will listen to offers for our best player and annoy all of our fanbase."

They will pretend they're trying everything in their power to keep him - but when Coutinho and his agent push for the move, it will happen.

Well we arent winning the biggest trophies either. Can barely get into the cl nevermind winning it and nowhere near our league. Maybe we don't deserve pogba and ddg.

Well we're at least winning trophies. And we are still one of the world's biggest and truly greatest clubs. That is why we have Pogba and De Gea.

Liverpool are now a mid-sized Premier League club that lacks both the resources and ambition to compete on the biggest stage. I think they are more likely to get relegated than ever win the league again at this point.

One can dream....

It's a world cup year, and Coutinho is brazilian. If he has a bad season, his spot on the team would be in jeopardy. Liverpool can refuse to even meet barcelona, player's not going to go on strike over it

ESPN ticker thingy just had a breaking news flash that confirms Barca and Liverpool have agreed to a transfer for 106M USD.

That's about 81.6M pounds or 90.1M euros.

Surely if he is a Barcelona player he has a better chance of making the World Cup squad than if he is a Liverpool player?

And if liverpool take issue with his behaviour and decide to keep him anyways he's still gonna play like a man possessed for them. Basically, Coutinho can ask to leave all he wants, but liverpool know they can keep him this season.

I see your point but it would be one hell of a gamble to take for Liverpool to keep a player who doesn't want to play for them anymore - yes it is a world cup year but if his head isn't right you would have to think it would impact on his performances.

oh RAWK is going to go into a real meltdown of epic proportions if this is true

Klopp will look like a right tit with his insistence they won't sell

Be interesting to see who they try and get with the money, they have tried spending their money this summer and not got anyone, not sure an extra 90m euros helps them.

No way can Liverpool replace him like-for-like so late in the window.
