'Pep' Guardiola sack watch

Some relegation fodder clubs have done worse, I remember Derby County for starters. But, for a supposed PL challengers this is truly the worst run I can remember. Arsenal came close couple of seasons ago when they collapsed in hilarious fashion when title pressure became real but even they had 3 wins in 9 PL games.

I said it few weeks ago but he is cooked now, players have thrown in the towel over there.
Oh of course not all time, that Derby team, Southampton this season etc.

But for any sort of contender this is the worst drop ever. Chelsea had that proper midtable season from being good, but champions to what they're showing is such a drop off.
Shame we're so crap as we could get above them!

I think when the verdict comes out Pep will be hung out to dry by the higher ups of City. I fully expect him to become the fall guy who knew what they were up to all along. That's why they kept him on, and I think Pep is being very naive at the moment. Needs to get out of there quickly.
What if they have dirt on him, and he can’t go?

Can pep really get pushed off the plank? He has too much pride, i'll imagine he will walk away on his own terms

City has a lot of average players, who when the momentum is good, look better than they are, like Akanji. Others are poor, like Rico Lewis. With so many injuries, Guardiola became dependent on them. He misjudged his squad.

These bad games show Guardiola's great flaw, which is to change the team during matches. In many of those games he only made two or three substitutions. He didn't use the bench as much and was slow to make changes. Today the first substitution came after 75 minutes.
So many injuries to who? Rodri and anyone else of note? It's certainly nothing like the injury crisis we had to put up with last season.

1 win in 13 games is utterly absurd.

Such a crazy collapse, which has no real explanation. A few players missing is not a reason for such a plummet in form.

Some have speculated that they know they will be hit with a big charge at end of season, massive points deduction or relegation so they are not bothered.

Depends on what you mean. Today Walker, Stones and Dias were missing, along with Nunes, Grealish and Bobb. Their bench today was Gundogan and De Bruyne, who both increasingly look like they're done as top players, and a bunch of kids. They have to play a lot players who clearly are out of form because they simply don't have many options. United had more injuries last season, but also more senior players.

Fair enough. Just on the bolded point, a few months ago they chose to re-sign Gundogan and not to sell De Bruyne when Saudi were sniffing around. It's on Pep for not refreshing the squad.

Some of their key players are ageing and their recruitment in the last few seasons hasn’t matched their previous efforts. Then throw in poor form from the likes of Foden and Haaland. Long may it continue.

A dominant team doesn't fall off a cliff like they have because of a couple injuries, and players being a few months older. Something has gone on behind the scenes

This.

Nobody seemed to mention this in previous years when we lined up with Casemiro and Evans at CB or way back to Van Gaal when we were going McNair, Blackett etc.

This Buvey fella is an absolute weapon who's only shtick is to come out with obscene opinions to garner views and clicks.
Not sure how he gets gigs on the Overlap when his only function is to be a wind-up merchant.

Also I'm pretty sure he was a Bristol City fan pre-ABU Dhabi takeover. The other day he was banging on about how much he hates Dean Windass for denying Bristol City promotion in 2008. I find it hard to believe someone with a Bristolian accent was following City when they were as shit as they were in the early-mid noughties. Especially someone as cocky as him.

Look like a group of players and manager that know they are going to be stripped off all the titles. Hopefully fingers crossed that's the case such a souless and cheating club.

It's either he's lost the dressing room or they have been told they're getting relegated.

They still have tons of cash and assuming nothing happens with the court cases are positioned to spend it wantonly.

Obviously this season is a write off but he'll be able to turn it around next season, he'll just buy an entire new team.

Extending his contract is a strange way to accomplish that.

As some have said it might be a way of getting a final payoff, or more likely City have him over a barrel as he's been complicit with everything they have been charged with so made it clear he had little option.

I think he’s just a greedy narcissist who thought everything would continue like before, while he gets richer than some countries. I really don’t think you have to pressure him to do anything he did at City. Cash is all he needs.

Not saying that isn't on Pep for failing to refresh the squad. But it's their reality. They have a fairly small squad of senior players, so if they consistently have four or five out, it's not exactly like they have a lot of options to bench underperforming players. Them having a small squad is obviously also on Pep, but it has worked well for them in the past few seasons. Just to be clear, I don't think this is the reason for their collapse. It might be part of it, but I think there are a lot of factors at play here.

Weren't Ederson and Walker dropped for several games before they got injured? Oscar Bobb is a huge miss though - so integral to your success.
Classic redcafe. Says something incorrect, gets corrected, moves goalposts... well done.

I mean last season your entire squad were dogshit and you still acknowledged when they were injured right?
Cause by your rules given you only competent players are Fernandes, Mainoo and Martinez. You had no crisis at all.

I'm unsure what point you're trying to make here. When the likes of Mctominay and Malacia were injured last season, was the caf full of excuses for Ten Hag's shit form by saying "look at our injury list - anyone would miss Mctominay and Malacia". There is no moving of the goalposts - it's called holding your manager accountable.

I mean today its was.
Ederson, Walker, Dias, Stones, Rodri, Grealish, Bobb, Nunes
You’re playing Everton at home. Not Liverpool away. Also  Bob? What has he done for you over the time he has been at your club? And Grealish? He hasn’t scored in over a year? What exactly are you missing from him?
