His agent . . acting under his instruction and in his employment . . offered his professional services to Manchester City fc. . . everyone knows that - it made the news and everything - Jose even mentioned, in pre-match pressers for today's humiliation, that he didn't know that Pogba was trying to sign for city until after the event.
You should follow the news . . it's shocking but you'll get used to it when you're a grown up.

My advice is; be a supporter but be an informed supporter - speak with knowledge through your mouth not with best guesses through your . . .

Hahaha. What a wind up! I suggest you take some bog your advice yourself and check facts.

No credible stories (with sources) say he tried to sign for City! He has not summited any transfer request and has only always said that Man United is his home and he has unfinished business here.

So Guardiola lied then?

Remember when people were suggesting we sell him and replace him with a bloke called Milinkovic-Savic? They were clever lads.
Same lads that preferred Matic over Pogba all because in their eyes, Pogba wasn't living up to his price tag. Didn't matter that Pogba had more quality to him, what mattered was price tag. :wenger:

I'm glad he's not playing for France but getting a two weeks rest to nurse his injury instead. We will need him to play every game even through the coming festive period. Now someone please tell me Matic has done the same as well?

He was most probs looking at that game yesterday and watching city give us a lesson in football and thinking this is the sort of football I want to play in.

Could see he wasn't impressed with his teammates whenever the camera panned in on him. Good thing he managed to keep his phone away this time though

Yeah, I'm sure he was looking at the one touch passing, pressing, movement and discipline thinking this is Pogba ball right here.

It made the news? Do you know how much absolute rubbish is in the news constantly?

Where's the source for Jose talking about it before this match? Because the only thing that I know of was Guardiola claiming (possibly true, possible not) that Raiola (known to be a huge shit-stirrer, and also known to hate Guardiola) told him that Mkhitaryan and Pogba would be available. Should be noted that Guardiola only made these claims after Raiola reportedly called him a coward and a dog for how he treats people.

I'm not going to waste my time educating you to the obvious because it's so widely known that I don't think it requires any research. However, because you're a fellow supporter I'll advise that you watch Mourinho's pre-match press interviews like most supporters do. Go on youtube and look at "man city - man utd Mourinho:"I cannot focus on how much money City spends" pre-match presser.

A reporter trying to get a reaction from Jose brings the matter up at about 5 and a half minutes in - says words to the effect of; before last derby Pep spoke of Pogba trying to get a berth with city and / that was a deliberate attempt by Pep to destabilise you?? Mourinho tries to keep it down / won't rise to the bait and replies by saying "I didn't even know about it at that time" etc.
Pep was also asked about it in a recent interview when a reporter suggested that he had deliberately leaked the fact that Pogba had sent his agent to ask Pep for a job - Pep replied by saying that he had revealed it in response to abuse from Pogba's agent and not as a way of having a go at Pogba.

Pogba trying to join city has been much talked about and reported and there has never been a single denial, not from our club, not from Mourinho and not from Pogba or his agent. . and belive me if it was untrue then Mourinho would've shoved it down Pep's neck - made a right song and dance about Pep telling lies and trying to destabilise United . . Mourinho would've used it as a cosh to beat city with / as a way to take the higher ground / as a means to diminish city and reduce Pep's reputation . but he didn't because he couldn't because it was true.

Now take it to the next level of thought. Could it have been that the agent had acted without his clients instruction?
Well, as you yourself mention, Raiola hate's Pep. Raiola wouldn't want to do business wth Pep, Raiola hates Pep so much that he wouldn't give him the time of day or the steam off his piss. Raiola would practically vomit at the thought of offering one of his prize clients to Pep.
So why was Raiola going to city, cap in hand, with a cheesy grin on his face, a clean shirt on and a limp warm handshake? Because his client (Paul Pogba) had instructed him to do it.
Pogba didn't go to city because city didn't want him and that's the only reason he wears a United shirt today. However, he'll get my support whenever he wears that shirt, and regardless of any off-field shenanigans, but I'm certainly not going to lie to myself or others on the topic.

What you need to understand is that acting naive / being in denial is not being a better supporter . . . knowing our players for what they are and yet still turning out every game and supporting them whenever they wear the shirt is being a better supporter.

Got to say that is a very accurate and well thought description about Raiola's hate towards Pep. I think we get the point now.

Yesterday really highlights how important he is. We are so clueless in the middle of the park without him.

So Pogba injured for the derby, yet he's travelling to go with the France squad? His injury can't have been too bad then? Surely something one would be able to play through if he's playing for France just under a week later?

Oh really? I didn't catch that, why was Martial told to return?

Injured too. Groin

I saw it on LiveScores news section (great app) but it won’t let me share

“Manchester United duo Paul Pogba and Anthony Martial have pulled out of France's squad for the games against Netherlands and Uruguay.

Pogba missed United's 3-1 defeat to Manchester City on Sunday with a thigh injury, while Martial – who scored his side's goal from the penalty spot – has sustained a groin problem.

Both players reported for duty on Monday at France's Clairefontaine training base, but after consultations with Les Bleus' medial staff the decision was made to send them back to Manchester for further treatment.

Didier Deschamps has replaced the pair with Tottenham midfielder Moussa Sissoko and Arsenal forward Alexandre Lacazette.

Martial has been in fine form recently, scoring six goals in his last seven games for United.

France can win their Nations League group with a draw against Netherlands in Amsterdam on Friday, with their friendly versus Uruguay in Paris four days later.”

The eagerness of some of our fans to find a stick to beat Pogba is impressive at times.

Thanks for the update :)

So you're saying dropping out of the derby because of injury only to rock up with the France squad less than a week later, fit for fight, is not worthy of discussing? I wasn't looking to beat him with a stick.
While I got my answer - that he's actually still injured and was sent back, I do think it's fair to ask why Pogba was too injured to play for us, but seemingly not too injured to play for France, no? Because in the above post it said they'd been sent home from the medical staff, not that they'd withdrawn themselves?

No sweat

Btw Mourinho said over the weekend Pogba played on injured v Juve as it was so important to us

He praised him big time

I heard that, which is good. I thought he played a good game also, and I am fine with him losing the derby game due to injury, especially when it seemed like they had sat down and figured out the Juve game was the most important and that it would be either or, not both. I was just questioning why he was even in contention for France a few days after being out with injury. :)

So what you're saying is it's more acceptable for a defensive midfielder to lose his man than an offensive midfielder.
...... No..... I'm saying the complete opposite.........?

I'm glad he's going to get a rest. Should have come a month ago.

Wow you're rather up yourself, aren't you?

Just remember, it was all on a backdrop of Pogba being at a team who would absolutely refuse, no matter what, to sell him to City. We knew that. City knew that. Pogba knew that. Raiola knew that. So your statement of 'Pogba didn't go to city because city didn't want him and that's the only reason he wears a United shirt today' is ridiculous. If Raiola did actually say that to City, you can bet he also did the same to Barca, Juve and Real (the first two were heavily linked to being interested).

Bearing that in mind, the worst case scenario is that Pogba did actively want to leave, and Raiola was trying to use City to be the less-palatable option so it wouldn't feel so bad when Real, Barca or Juve came in as well.

That's worst case. The more likely two options were:

1) Pogba uncertain about his future, and Raiola trying to drum up interest amongst the few clubs who could afford to buy him to give Pogba options (and likely do his best to push Pogba towards wanting to leave so he got more in his pocket).

2) Raiola went to City about Mkhitaryan, knowing that he might be available and either looking for a new club for him or at least a better bargaining position for his wages if he could get more clubs interested. While there he bought up Pogba to increase his bargaining position for Pogba to get a better wage.

Even the media knew that we wouldn't sell to City no matter what, hence your statement of 'Pogba trying to join city has been much talked about and reported' is false. There was a lot of talk about Raiola's talk with Pep, but considering how big a story it would have been there was very little about Pogba actually wanting to go to them. Even if City weren't interested, that would have been an absolutely massive story, but it was also so obviously not the case that it was never really pressed. Even the media, the worst of the shit-stirrers, knew it would have been one of the above scenarios.

So with all due respect, get off your high-horse. 'Acting naive / being in denial is not being a better supporter'. lol, give me a break. I'm fine living in the real world, you keep living in your world where anybody thinks we would have actually sold Pogba to City.

Funny how people still say the same silly things, that club and player didn't deny the story when Pogba denied it on the very same day on his instagram and also made a gesture not to believe the stories after scoring brace against City.

...... No..... I'm saying the complete opposite.........?

I'm glad he's going to get a rest. Should have come a month ago.

Ok so we agree. Matic should rightly receive large scale condemnation in the media by pundits. It's his only role. To lose a player like that when it's your primary function beggars belief.

We all know Pogba would've be slated, the whole post match would've focussed on it.

Thanks for the update :)

Unless it's a major injury it's usually standard practice that they are assessed by national team since they've already been called up.

He tried to play in the derby, medic said no.

Tried to play for his national team, medic said no.

He looks like a player that wants to play every game, as any other player would.

If anyone has an issue with him trying to play for France after he didn t play in the derby it is just fecking mental, get your heads checked.

We were slightly more shite. The level of performance isn't that much different.
The difference is night and day. The terrific trio that started in midfield against City could have played two games back to back against them without creating anything of note. In contrast, Pogba scored twice to win us the same fixture last season. And we now know that he was playing with an injury against Juventus.

Haha, you're a prize twonk and no way am I going to waste my time trying to educate the happily stupid but I will point out that the original counter argument was the naive / spurious claim that Pogba didn't try to sign for City. Your argument now is that we wouldn't have sold him so at least there's a recognition that Pogba did try to sign for City.

Your next step up the evolutionary ladder will be to accept that if a player really wants to leave a club then they get ther own way. Just like Beckham and Ronaldo did when twonks like you were spouting off about us not being a selling club. . . yeah too right eh?

PS. Woofitty woofitty

Quality post. Thumbs up.

If you read my post and somehow came out with it being a recognition that Pogba did try to sign for City, there's no point continuing. Likewise with me apparently, according to you, not accepting that players can force their way out if they want to. Basically the exact opposite of what I stated when I was talking about Barca/Real/Juve being possible destinations if he truly wanted to leave.

Explains why he didn't look himself really, never broke into full speed and looked like he was playing injured.

But his haters will say "he wasn't trying as he loves Juve and want's to return :annoyed:"

Pogba is far far far and away our best outfield player and if you can’t see that, stop watching football.

Yes, followed by Martial. Add De Gea, and they are the only genuine top class players we have and we should add quality players to them. The rest are pretty substitutionable to say it kindly.
