Shaw has had a few absolute shockers but Pogba was absolute rubbish in first half of the season.

Did you watch Brighton away, west ham away, Valencia at home? Just three examples off the top of my head when he was certifiably useless.
If the club has decency, they should scrape it this year.I don't think there's a point discussing who was our best player because they were all rubbish, Pogba included. I don't know how they'll feel during that United POTY award party. I don't think I'll want to watch it and hear cringy words from the team players and manager tbh.
He’s a good player but over the 3 years he’s been here, he’s played nowhere near what his transfer fee and hype would suggest...I’d say he’s been hugely underwhelming for the most part. I’m not even sure where you play him - doesn’t control games, too ill-disciplined to play holding CM and as part of an attacking 3, he’s nowhere near as good as, say De Bruyne and Salah. Was OK today but if you’re talking about an alleged ‘World Class’ player against a Huddersfield team that is one of the worst PL teams ever, you’d hope they would stand out more...we do have a lot of poor players in terms of challenging the best but it’s still a team 6th in the PL..People make out like he’s playing with pub players...again, even at semi-pro level, good players stand out amongst dross. Pogba doesn’t...well at least not like a world class player should.
Maybe he will go to Madrid and be brilliant but here, if it requires surrounding him with great players (which isn’t going to happen) to get anything close to resembling a consistently good level and if he doesn’t want to be here, then it’s surely best for all parties that he leaves. If we reinvest money in the squad and get 3 good players with the money we recoup (obviously reliant on good decisions, which is not a given), we’d be better off than what we get out of him now.
Extraordinary. Even in this struggling team, his individual contribution is comparable to Messi and Ronaldo, two indisputable GOATs of football. Now imagine if we had forwards capable of converting the chances Paul creates, and a world class CDM to properly protect back four allowing Paul the creative freedom he deserves.
No he wasn't. Pogba's season has been very inconsistent, with the season broken into six very distinct periods.Shaw has had a few absolute shockers but Pogba was absolute rubbish in first half of the season.
I hate referring to players by their first name like this. Trivial pet peeve I know, but still.Extraordinary. Agreed. I've been posting the same with regards to Pogba since before Mourinho was sacked. People have short memories and they let a media narrative become truth in their world. No he wasn't. Pogba's season has been very inconsistent, with the season broken into six very distinct periods.
1) Started the season very well, easily our best player along with Shaw.
2) Then had a bad period, which included one atrocious game.
3) Came back into very good form where he, along with Martial, were basically dragging us to victories.
4) Another bad period, which included one or two absolutely terrible matches. It was at the end of this period where Mourinho was sacked.
5) Had an amazing run of form where he was arguably the most in-form player in the world.
6) Back to generally being average/poor for the last period of the season.
So we can say that he has been very inconsistent, but saying he's been rubbish for any extended period simply isn't true. Likewise he hasn't been great for any extended period.
The sad thing is that despite all that inconsistency, he has been arguably our best player this season (under both Mourinho and Ole). It sounds ridiculous, but basically every other player in our team has been just as inconsistent. At least with Pogba he's been roughly 50/50 between great and poor (and his good periods have been far better than anyone else), whereas almost everyone else has been poor more than they've been good. Lindelof, Shaw and Smalling are probably the only other three where that hasn't been true, but all three have still been quite inconsistent and certainly haven't reached the peaks of Pogba.
Pogba started off the season with a great performance against Leicester. He was then bad for 2 matches, and then followed that up with great performances. The West Ham match was his 8th match of the season. Right before that he was great against Wolves and Young Boys. He was more good than bad in that early period.I can’t agree with your assessment of the early games. He stank the joint up in the Brighton match and West Ham.
His overall contribution relative to what 1. He cost 2. Is paid 3. He is capable of was abysmal when judged over the season.
Lindelof is our player of the year. Consistent performer and our late dip in form started when he took time off after the mad stuff that happened in Sweden.
When Ole came, Pogba was the best again.
The bar is pretty low since then. I'm sure you know that.Until psg game, and until ole was not confirmed as permanent manager.
He's a good player, without a doubt. He is worth building a team around, but he needs top quality players around him to bring out the best week in week out. Utd at this moment in time need him to drive the players forward, inspire them with his passion and drive, lead by example, blah blah blah. He's not capable of that, he's a luxury player who needs everyone else do the dirty work. I think its best for him, and utd if he went to a quality team where he can enjoy his football and not sulk about at utd spreading his misery on everyone else.
