He said himself once that he was told to spend more hours at the gym (from his first time around in Manchester). He responded that he was a footballplayer, not an athlete. I know it’s bad timing for thinking this is a bad response, but the boss is the boss.
Do you have a source for the above exchange? I am not disagreeing, just never saw it before.

Thanks

I expect he'll up his game remarkably now. Admires his new boss greatly, who will set up the midfield to get the best out of him.
I wonder if the board are going to help strengthen the team, as is one heck of an ask getting this squad back into the top 4.

shackles coming off. We’ll get the real Pogba back now. Can’t wait.

If he suddenly performs then he has no respect for the fans and has been purposefully half arising.

If the new manager comes in and does well then yeah everyone will improve due to the tactics but there's been elements of Pogba's play that have been shit that go beyond tactics.

I honestly believe he won't be afforded the time to gain his form back.
Gary Neville and his followers, all of the match going reds i follow absolutely hate him.
He was having a good season before the Southampton game. Until he was called a virus through Mourinho's mouthpeace. And still the fans are all to willing to give all benefit of doubt towards this toxic manager.

He will be booed out of the club, and we will suffer for it. Get a willing runner with minimal ability instead, that seems to be the type the fans can tolerate.

Or, his morale, along with others, will have been lifted. He won’t have a manager that clearly doesn’t trust him or want to play him. We might be set up to play some better football. I don’t know why it’s just a matter of half arsing it.

Sounds like you're not prepared to give Pogba any credit at all then. Carry on.

Even if that's the case, you don't see an issue that basics of his play go to shit whenever he's not motivated?

Let's hope no manager in the future ever needs to drop him for bad form because we'll have these issues again. I think its naive to assume his issues are just related to Jose but we'll see. He just needs to shut up and perform now.

The media does tend to twist things

I think Pogba genuinely loves this club. Mourinho is possibly the most toxic modern manager I have ever seen. His fallout with Casillas, Ramos, Pepe and Ronaldo were all something else. He even shared the same agent with the latter two and still that didnt stop him.

I am hopeful that things will get better going forward.

Maybe he like 90%of the United fans were absolutely sick of Mourinho here and that situation made it hard for him to be at his best? He can put in the effort, but when you arent happy, you arent going to play at your best. I'd expect most players out there to improve now. Nothing to do with respect.

It wasn’t just him though? Can you name a player that actually has played consistently well this season?

He seemed to be singled out more than anyone else too, while the likes of Matic avoided any criticism from Jose. To me, it’s not any surprise that he played like shit. He was one of our best players going back a couple of months when this all kicked off again.

Recognise some of these usernames. Obviously hurts them bad that Pogba came out last man standing. Will need time for the healing process to set in.

Some seriously short, hurt memories in this thread.

Pogba is a hero to me for standing up to that madman. He's got our club back.

What is this Pogba wasnt trying? I remember the Newcasle game where we got behind and won mostly because of how Pogba played. I would argue that Mourinho has been kept as United manager because his ''enemies'' (Martial and Pogba) actually did well and saved some games for Mourinho.

Pogba has been big success elsewhere, for Juventus and France. So, with Mourinho now gone, let’s see how good he can be.

Fault on both sides between Mourinho and Pogba this season, but Mourinho is ultimately accountable. Time to press the reset button now. He's got most of a season to put in some effort and show he wants to make it here now Jose is gone. If not we should get rid in the Summer.

This - really looking forward to see if he will flourish now. Hopefully will mean people like Dave stays with us too.

I think we’ll see a lot of the same flaws in Pogba’s game under a new manager. We saw them when he played for France after all. Hopefully we’ll be too busy attacking for the flaws to be as big a problem as they were under Mourinho. Pogba sure as shit isn’t suited to Mourinho’s style of football and all the good stuff he does will be more noticeable if we spend more of every game attacking.

Let's all pretend that Pogba didn't try his best when we needed him most. I'm glad Jose is gone but I'll be as happy when Pogba leaves too.

This.

He has no excuses now. Pogba gave off the vibe that Mourinho had put shackles on him and that he wasn't able to express himself. Well, here's your chance.

I genuinely want him to do one if he doesn't up his game/attitude by the summer. If it's not working, then sell him while his stock is still high. We could get someone 75% of his quality, but 200% times the attitude.

I really hope he lights up now.

I'd certainly be more forgiving of his loose passes if we were winning games and he was handing out assists like there's no tomorrow.

Matic gets zero credit for playing well against Fulham but Pogba gets credit for his Newcastle performance

Last game against Fulham? What did Matic do which was so impressive? I thought the Fulham game was pretty bad tbf.. started well but reverted back to really bad football.

 no he doesn't get any credit for putting in a bang average performance. Jesus christ

This applies to all players but will be the most relevant to Pogba. Mou leaving is a blank slate, it's his chance to impose himself on the next few games and get a bit of arrogance back on the pitch, if we play attacking football he should be at the centre of it. If he now discovers and maintains some form his reputation will rocket again. I think he's a player who can drag our team up a level if he can be bothered, I'm really hoping this whole saga turns out to be a turning point for him.

Or he has no respect for a snide cnut who undermines him at every instance and is the manager to give United their worst start in God knows how many years. Do you think you'd perform and give it your all at a company if your boss was calling you shit and talking shit about you to all the other members of the company? He's a human after all. Don't forget that

Which would mean he isn't motivated by the fans or the badge but only gripe against his manager. Which was the entire point of the post you've quoted. Well done

When Pogba let his fat agent offer him to Manchester City and St. Pep Guardiola thought it was a classy thing to casually make this fact known to the public on the exact day before the derby, it only made Pogba hungry to finally step up and really lead the team for a change, at least in the second half of that match.

He also showed great resilience after his father passed, if my memory serves me well he scored in the first two game after he came back from that (one being the Europa Leage final). So hopefully we will see more of this mentality in the next months, he can be a super player if he's fully focused and feels like he has a point to prove.

Still think he's off to Real in the summer though, but that's for another time.

It's starting to look like Ole will get his opportunuty. It will be interesting to see if he still has that opinion at the end of the season.
