I don't believe Madrid were ever interested in Scholes or Giggs.

He looked happy alright, but so did Di Maria. The media over here are ruthless when it comes to foreign players. They will roast Pogba week after week when he's not scoring.... Even though he's a CM and isn't really supposed to be scoring many.
Lets hope he's strong enough then and he'll come good despite media.

Also I don't believe Scholes or Giggs would leave United even if Madrid were interested. Not all players are crazy about Madrid..

He's trying to do too much at the moment. I don't think he himself knows his position.

Once we get the balance right he'll be a top player, but at the moment he's looking more like an £8.9 million player.

I know that, but the game still showcased his lack of dynamism and aggression needed to play in two-men midfield. It's not good enough in current football era. He'd be wasted there just like Deschamps was kind to present screwing up France chances for Euro final glory.
But as I said he didn't play in 2 man midfield so he could have been closer to the goal. Playing in nr 10 though, don't know if Jose will try it but it's not so much different to today's setup.

It'd be typical for a world class player to join us and suddenly lose everything that made him great for the team we bought him from. I think we're cursed.

They probably wouldn't have left us, but I geniunely don't believe the opportunity presented itself.

I think Giggs was linked with Inter back in 2003 or so.

So are folks now beginning to accept that Pogba is not the type of dynamic box to box player that we need to dominate midfield? Good.

I honestly don't know what Pogba is, I've seen him being touted as a 10, an 8 and even a left sided midfielder. Even tonight in commentary Hargreaves blurted some crap about him 'having to play further forward, kind of like a 10 or a 8'.

My big fears are being confirmed, he doesn't look like the kind of leader that will drive us on in midfield. As I've said all along I hope in wrong.

I know right? Definitely feels like we're becoming a poisoned chalice. I hope not.

Patience, he had no bloody pre-season. The teams still in developing and whilst he's finding his feet, sadly there are still a number of players that are still finding theirs...I'd argue the Juve team he's come from is better than Utd....

Some of you should read what you are writing, 'we are poisoned'

That doesnt exist, just like santa clause, so wake the feck up and be more patient. He is either good enough or not and time will tell. Nothing to do with curse.

Said it a few times before on here....

He's almost a God here in the land of wine and cheese and I've had to watch him almost non-stop the past two or three years.....

Yet I still can't remember a time when, at the end of a match, I've thought to myself ' He's just the player we need - hope and wish we could sign him '

Agreed

He'll surely try more of it. Today's fiasco stemmed from unsynced team filled with too many off-colour players, yet we lost because of wrong offside call.

All the excuses being made now. I clearly remember that before he was signed, the consensus was he's the kind of player to lift the team, set the tempo, bla bla bla. Now it's "well he's being played out of position", "needs a good partner", "he'll only shine when the team is playing well". Reminding me of Berbatov when some people where performing mental gymnastics to blame everyone else except him for his overall disappointing time here.

Anyways, I think he'll come good at the end

Pogba was incredibly active and aggressive today. He didn't play well because none of what he tried worked, but that didn't hurt his effort at all. That's a big difference compared to Di Maria, who had a tendency to sulk on the pitch.

I also think Pogba has way too big of an ego to do what Di Maria did. He wouldn't go anywhere he didn't really want to go to and he surely wouldn't leave at the first sight of trouble either.

He has his flaws, but he knows what he wants and pushes hard for it, for better or for worse. He did the same when e left us.

Can we bloody wait and see rather than an opinion in the first month of the season? When they shipped out De Bryne out of Chelsea, I'm sure no one thought he'd come back one of the best players in the league. The bloody lads on 23, Utd fans need to break an habit of a lifetime and be patient for a change....

I thought he'd be a Lampard esque scoring/creative machine but those parts of his game have been utterly non-existent so far.

Starting to think he's an icing on the cake type of player rather than a Superstar that can carry a team.

That opinion and we are still in September? I give up....

Noone can doubt that he really wanted it tonight. The amount of complaining he did about everyone else. Depressingly, it looks like the fee has got to him. He's taking on too much and is visibly stressed when the game doesn't go his way. If he doesn't sort his head out this will go from bad to worse. This season is turning into another cocking nightmare for us fans. feck's sake.

The problem is a lot of us held that opinion of him watching him for Juve the past few years.

But that's in Italian football? How can anyone form that opinion of him in the prem in the first month of the league? We need to be patient and less knee jerk on here....one of the things that's consistent even by pundits that can't stand Utd is he is quality. The problem is Jose still doesn't know his best team cause a lot of players are out of form to be able to make any assessment....

The lad has had zero preseason with us...

He's played 4 cocking games, chill out.

Di Maria tried. Thats why Van Gaal dropped him... He took risks.

I hold nothing against ADM for leaving us anyway. He was dropped for Ashley Young. He was playing under a clueless manager with a strict "philosophy" and he got the move he really wanted in the end. Can't fault him for that. If anything, I'm grateful he joined us in the first place considering we had no Champions League football at the time. I just wish that season worked out better for us and him.

He would have stayed if he knew Mourinho was coming, IMO.

He'll probably (hopefully!) come good but fecking hell, it's not looking good for United. Not looking good at all. I'd fancy us to have a decent season if the "big four" were as far off the pace as they were in 2015/16 but they've all kicked on, big time, and we seem to be improving painfully slowly.

We've played 4 league games and won 3 of them. Relax.

No....Opinion based on three years of watching him almost every week - not five matches in a red shirt !!

Naah it's too early for such drama. If Mourinho will manage to not lose his balls nor head in midst of it he's the guy who'll guarantee us at the very least top4 finish.

You don't strike me as a panicking poster. What's happening?

So you are making the assessment with him playing in a different country, team, league, manager? Unless your job is at a top football club, you are wasted...!!!!

You must be enjoying all this.

I like Pogba but I agree with Rory, while I could see him become a box to box, he isn't one yet. He has only performed at a high level with Juventus in peculiar organizations.
