Irony....

My opinion is not one sided. He's our only creative force and we're complete shit without him, apparently. I have said that he is a creative player who produces moments instead of championing him for something that he isn't. That's subjective criticism. His good is very good, and his bad is very bad.

So you can shove your iron.

set in stone....

Another very good game last night and I feel he's starting to impose himself more recently and his decision making is getting better. We do need some more quality around him though as someone mentioned. We look devoid of creativity without him.

This exchange is quite bizarre. Please keep terse replies and circular arguments to a minimum. Cheers! :)

If it was set in stone, I would have made a video of the bad moments only.

How you can criticize Pogba for that Palace goal boggles the mind. We were zonally marking in that clip and Darmian was the one that lost his zone by getting skinned, this meant that Carrick had to cover for him by preventing the player from going into the box which meant Pogba was outnumbered in the middle. Blind did a decent job but was undone by a good flick so he lost his zone but it was understandable. The goal scorer went into the space that Blind left behind. Im not really sure if Pogba should have been tracking the goal scorer but if he did lose his zone then it was after a series of mistakes from players previously.

However, i do agree that Pogba can over complicate things. He often chooses the flashy option rather than the simple (and usually better) option. You probably know this from his earlier years; but Pogba is used to physically getting himself out of trouble. So when he looks for the flashy option and dithers on the ball he puts pressure on himself and then tries to muscle his way out of the situation. Surprisingly he actually does get himself out of trouble quite often, so its not a huge flaw. But it is a flaw in his game.

Any excuse is valid, it seems. It was lazy tracking of a clear threat. He lets a midfielder run off him when he can see the danger. It was a poor decision.

Anyone seen the article by Charlie Nicholas on Sky Sports?

Apparently Pogba "failed to prove himself in England last time". Sure. A 19yo lad that was touted as the next big thing and got stolen on a Bosman by Juve....How that accounts to failing to prove yourself I will never know

This coming from the bloke who also left Pogba out of a combined Utd - Arsenal team (also picked Rob Holding )

I think Charlie Nicholas is genuinely bitter and twisted. You can argue about whether Pogba has yet justified £93.5m but to try and dismiss his ability is just bizarre

He's the type who doesn't watch matches, rather watches MOTD and reads paper reviews and goes with the consensus.

Anybody who thinks Pogba had a "poor" season is blinded by the numbers. Yes he could have been more clinical at times but it'll come. I have no worries about Paul at all.

I expect pundits to snipe at Utd because they have done for years - mainly because for a long time the BBC and Sky were basically Liverpool Ex-Pro Welfare Clubs

What I do expect though is to get the bare facts right and at least put forward a reasoned and consistent argument

I like Carragher on MNF because he is honest and you can usually see he has thought about his arguments. These lads on Soccer Saturday are like 12yo boys squabbling in the playground

Manchester United: Paul Pogba, 7.71

A controversial award, no doubt, but Paul Pogba has been influential for Manchester United in the league and in Europe this season. He has averaged the second most passes per game in the Premier League this season (73.7), delivered the second most accurate through balls (12) and also leads the way for United in both key passes (1.9) and dribbles (2.4) per game.

Poor season

Surprised we're putting him in v Palace, though presumably just a half.

Seems way more to lose than to gain from that

Jose said he wasn't training during last period after his father death so he can be out of form and fitness.

One half won't be bad. Definitely not 90 minutes.

Weak reply
Agree the stats don't lie passes loads top if not second highest in the league, same with forward passes has got better defensively, would have loads of goals if did not hit the post, and converted some of his sitters he missed. He has been unlucky in a way this season can't imagine he will be unlucky 2 seasons in a row plus mourinho has a plan to make him 1 of focal points of the team.

Poor season

Missing the pass where he smashes it onto fellainis chest, shit compilation.

He should've had 10+ more assists and he will do next season if we get players who can finish.

I can't imagine this him and someone like Ronaldo in the same team. Glad he didn't go to Madrid. A nice forward and a solid partner in the midfield, we will go places.
It would be great to see, but I don't think Cristiano's any worse off with Kroos, Modric, James and Isco in the squad though.

I think it's pretty simple really. If Pogba plays well on Wednesday, we'll win.

He's that important to us.

Don't care what anyone says, he is one of the best centre mids in the world and there's just so much more to come.

That's a bit OTT, but there's no doubt having him in the team gives us a significantly better chance of winning.
