Patrick Dorgu | Medical today? No. Weekend.

Sure. And we'll pay a lot in the 2-3 years waiting for it to happen, while our current team needs solutions now

I think its a bit like the Amad signing. It might eventually be worth it several years down the line but in the meantime its a decent amount of money, especially with FFP constraints and talking of selling our highest potential young players. And it'll be like a 5% improvement when we need to see a large improvement in our team.
I think having someone who’s more of a specialist wing back, no matter how average, will improve us quite a lot. The amount of attacks down the left where Dalot has just shifted back onto his right and gone inside is maddening. Just having someone provide pace and width one the one side will improve us hugely.

The guy played like 5 matches at wingback

I would not think it impacts Harry much, he is due to head out on loan this week to get some first team experience and will probably be integrated into the first team squad for next season. Malacia is surplus to requirements and even if Shaw returns to fitness he is more likely to be used as a LCB so Dorgu and Amass would be the two for the LWB position next year if they develop as we hope.
If we're signing Leon then I can't see it TBH

His attributes are that of a wing back. He’s played equally as a winger and a full back. Dalot is and can only really be a full back.
Dalot will continue to play wingback, just on the other side. And I don't hate it, Dalot is much better than the Caf gives him credit for, he should be solid on the right

All looked extremely good and very well polished in their games.

Does Dorgu even have 10 games as a wingback or left back? Before we consider if he is looking as good as they were
So a quick look has him having played 53 games in the Serie A, 36 from the left (mostly LB, some from left mid or left wing), and then 14 from the right. I guess transfermarkt has 3 ghost games... But he's obviously a left back and has mostly played as one for Lecce. This season seems like a 50/50 split while last season was mostly on the left.

Which is interesting when you consider the fact that he played significantly as a wingback for Porto B. When we signed him the question was whether he could be a fullback and not a wingback,

Already signed. Medical and contracts done - arriving in June.
OK wasn't sure if it was done, hard to see how Amass fits in now then, a 20YO, and 2 18YO ( as they will be soon) isn't conducive to progressing all 3

I mean he's not exactly a world XI player, but surely he's good enough for a top 4 push next season (he said, unreasonably optimistic). He's shown it before and I have faith in him

This is spot on. Suspect we may see Maz sitting as the RCB as he did when Ruben first came in.

I guess the chances of all 3 becoming the player we hope they will is incredibly slim.

Best case scenario - one of them becomes class, one of them provides good backup and the other can be sold for a small profit in a couple of years time.

I agree with this. From listening to things other players have said as well, Dalot appears to be something of the a standards driver on the training ground.

In a squad sorely lacking leadership, Dalot is one who has his head screwed on properly and sets a good example. If we could bring in a top class attacking option at RWB then I’m all for it, but I’d still like to see him kept around.

I hope he can be much better driving forward on the right and get back to his form where he was at his best under Ten Hag. But he’s had a nose bleed in the final third for quite some time now. I really like him as a character. But even against Fulham when he started on the right he was atrocious, that being said everyone was.

I'm not expecting fireworks number wise, he's just not that great in the final third. But he's athletic, hard working and provides an outlet out wide on the right, something we've only had with Amad playing there

He’ll allow dalot to go back to RWB and then hopefully maz at RCB. He performed well there for a while and can cover the flanks which is good in a back 3

I’m genuinely not sure what he’s shown before. In the modern game, his numbers for a full back are atrocious.

I had forgotten about Leon to be honest but by all accounts he is a long way from being first team ready so presumably we will look at him and Amass over the next couple of years and it will really depend on how they develop. I don't mind a surplus of good young players, if we can start to do that in all positions we might be able to get into a position like Chelsea and City where we have a couple of decent youngsters that we can sell on each summer to help balance the books.

Better than Malacia?
Yes.

Him and Dalot on the wings would mean we can get from a 5 in the back to a 5 in attack pretty quickly. We're really unable to do this without a wingback.

I understand that Dorgu may bot be a specialist Wingback but he clearly has exactly the traits required.

Maz is a very good RCB, it would be great to have him back there.

its a bit mad we're bringing a young lad into this chaos mid-season but he looks a good fit for the role

Bringing in Alvaro too for rotation would be the responsible thing to do. Playing for Lecce is worlds apart from Old Trafford breathing down your neck, let's hope he has ice in his veins.

I’m getting Mounty vibes with this one, in that no one is particularly impressed by him yet we’ve ended up paying pretty much what Leece demanded.

Sometimes I do think the fans and the United scouting team live in alternate realities.

Definitely agree with that. The scouts have actually watched him play, we've watched him on YouTube.

Mount had the injury problems, but otherwise seemed favored by Amorim. I haven’t seen anything about Dorgu with the same injury problems.

If the reports on his wages are true, I am completely behind this transfer and that's incredible news, 4 years at £30k and the final year at £50k is incredible as usually we would give them £200k

Our recent signings have been better (Ugarte, Mazraoui, De Ligt) Zirkzee may be the exception but even he could come good. So I hope Ineos know what is needed and have acted well. Time will tell but looking forward to any other wing back right know is exciting.

Its cheap by our ridiculous wage standards but lets put things in perspective. The guy's making €12.5k a week right now and is barely known anywhere in Europe. We'd be tripling his salary and quintupling it in the 5th year.

Very raw, a punt at £20mil..Never mind more. I presume we were priced out of nuno Mendes?

30m is the new 10-15m and has been for a while.

Look at Califiori, City’s two recent signings, Dragusin, Timber, Kilman, Maarten, van den Berg etc.

Throw in a January signing and it’s as you’d expect.
