Patrick Dorgu | Medical today? No. Weekend.

I think we will still pursue a LWB target in the summer as none of our primary targets are available in January or at least at a price we can possibly afford, Dorgu is just as useful if not more so on the Right, long term I suspect the intention is for Dorgu to be used as RWB with Amad as R10

He's been touted for a move to a top club for a while, also reported to be on Liverpool's shortlist to replace Robertson.

There's a weird tone in this thread that makes it sound like he's some random punt, rather than a fairly highly rated young player who was expected to move to a big club this year.
And they speak like they watch Lecce week in week out. Somehow I doubt that.

25.3m sounds ok to me.

End of the day, its January, not many players are available. The LWB is cruicial to us. LWB's are hard to find. Probably the hardest position on the pitch to fill. You need a left footer (rare) that is capable of attacking and defending (also rare). Lad of 20 years old with his whole future ahead and one of the most promising in Europe.

I think its a good deal.

Have I missed something? How can we now bid 30m Euro? Haven't we only got rid of Antony on loan?
In PSR terms we only need to account for 6 million euros this season. Triggering the extension on Maguire and loaning out Antony has freed up nearly £8 million in PSR space.

If we have the cash (I'm fairly sure we have £70 left on the credit facility) then there isn't an issue with the signing.

£70? I mean I'm no expert but that seems tight.

If he’s a progressive LWB then this should help us out massively. We don’t have runners in the wing back positions unless Amad plays there. We need someone to carry the ball into the final 3rd. This would be quite an exciting signing.

Absolutely, it's a relatively low cost and exciting deal which should help the balance of the team a great deal.

Maguire contract extension helped us by about £6 million in the PSR calculations.
Ah right I see. I have only had a cursory look at the rules. I thought it was a max of 5 years of contract PSR would apply to?

Thanks for explaining. I don't particularly like how signing an overpaid player for another year actually helps but you have to cook the books.

It's not low cost at all. It's actually quite a big outlay for a player who looks quite raw and has very little experience in playing let alone being a wingback.
Unless theres the old Hojlund "youre paying for potential!" argument, which sort of falls on its arse after how Hojlund is doing

It's a yearly cost of about £5 million. That is a relatively low cost on the books.

Yeah but he must be actually decent now seeing as all the Serie A fans said they think Lecce will get relegated without him

its a 30mEUR fee is it? For a left back that has hardly any experience and looks like he's still quite raw. I'm sure you amortize other fullbacks to make them sound pretty in price per year, but it doesnt change the fact that this is flat out *not* a relatively low cost on the books to what you see in the market.

They're 1 point above the drop it's not really saying much
