Paris terror attacks on Friday 13th

My heart breaks thinking of all the individual stories family, friends, friends of friends, etc, will tell of this in the days/weeks to come. For those who feel nothing but hatred for this kind of utter evil, just stand with your fellow men and women in love and compassion and give your prayers; it is better to think and respond from that place of kindness than the one of terror.
I hope people don't take my post as some sort of 'excuse/justification' for terrorists or 'understanding'. I made none and will not make one. One person clearly misunderstood. I was simply responding to someone saying - don't terrorists realize acts like this make 'us' hate 'them' more.

I've been a member here for years now, and I've consistently said once you decide the way to get what you want is to kill innocent people...you don't deserve to be heard. I've said this even in the Israel/Palestine thread - where, people have sometimes justified some Israeli casualties as tit for tat for Palestinian civilian deaths.
I certainly didn't take it that way. I just hope people don't overreact along the lines of "nuke em all."

Prayers to the French police and hostages. They are going in the Bataclan now.

Incredibly naive tweet. Religion is the cause, until people realise this nothing will change. It doesn't matter what religion you are from!
Nah, religion isn't the cause. People are just messed up. Religion is just an excuse and gives a target to point at when interpreted the wrong way as they do. If there was no religion, then it would be races or something else.

Media getting confirmation that French special operations teams being deployed at Les Halles as well, not much details

Sadly one of the aims of ISIS to force us to leave all these countries alone including the north african nations and with it take our money out of their economy, so theses nations become destabilised and make taking them over easier.

You think isis would have had any chance in these countries had we not already killed their sovereign leaders or funded their enemies?

Not sure this is the time or thread to go into these discussions but to fail to learn from our mistakes make us sure to repeat them.

Repugnant that innocent civilians have to pay consequences for stupid political decisions going back decades and on the other side of the world.

Another sad day.

Fukc off with this shit now. I won't agree with you even after this, but now's not the time to debate it and question other people's beliefs.
Thank you. I will not hate people who I know to be good just because they follow a certain religion. If we fracture our society the terrorists win.

I read that the capacity of the Bataclan is about 1000, it doesn't bear thinking about.
Scary...Such a compact space, looking at this pic. Awful stuff.

Religion is the cause?

Humanity is the cause, whether we had religion or not we as human beings would find something to give us cause to fight, to feel like we have meaning and something to make our actions just.

Religion isnt the cause, its just an easy source to blame other than our human nature.
Debatable. I don't know many other causes where someone does something like this in another continent for their own beliefs. People don't fight oppressive governments by blowing up people in another country. This isn't the same as the mass shootings you see in America. This is more related to ethnic cleansing.

The society is fractured now and nothing will change it, you can be sure of that.

RE: the satirist report. It was probably written earlier in the week and auto timed to be published tonight. They've quickly removed it off their social media and sites.

It's a political war propped up by the use of religion.

However, there is a very real problem with Islam and extremist terror. These people are involving their religion in amongst their killing campaigns and its generally exclusive to Islam. We cant skirt around the obvious.

Religion isnt the cause its the mask that these Psychos hide behind and they pick tiny parts of the religion to justify there actions.

Doubt it. More likely that some idiot(s) read the situation all wrong and thought it was fun (and a good way to get some easy advertising money), but quickly realised the backlash was too severe.

Agree absolutely.

Might be worth a thread but personally I'm finding the idea this has nothing to do with Religion(Or that Religion doesn't play a major role)and more to do with human nature a bit weak.

It's how most online publishing works. The speed of which they took it down makes me think this is what happened. If they were after the cash they'd have ridden it out for the night.
