Paris terror attacks on Friday 13th

People telling news stations that they heard shots in Molenbeek tonight.

Another saying that Salah escaped and is headed to Germany in a BMW. So, stop all BMs headed into Germany from Belgium? Surely?

I'm reading 6 arrests, Abdeslam escaped in the direction of Germany in a BMW. Well that narrows it down.
There won't be that many making that journey at this time on a Sunday night.

Let's hope he didn't make it there yet, it's not that far of a drive and we don't really have an idea of the time line. Guess we'll find out more soon.

19 houses searched in Brussels, 3 in Charleroi. 16 people arrested.

Press conference started. Just a read out of a press release though.

- 19 searches were conducted in Brussels
- 3 searches in Charleroi
- 16 people arrested
- Justice dep. will decide tomorrow whether they need to stay in custody
- No incidents during the operation, except a car crashing against a police car. Police shot two fires and the car then fled. Police managed to catch and arrest him
- No info on the identity of the arrested
- No weapons or bomb materials were found
- Abdesalam was not found

Police found the BMW in the Liége area. No sign of the driver. (edit - car not connected with the arrests or ongoing operations).

5 more arrests in Brussels and Liége this morning

A brief sidetrack into an internet tradition. Apparently with Belgium police asking everyone to steer clear of giving anyone a heads up about police operations last night a frenzy of cats was unleashed on twitter.

The police were so grateful they even sent a thankyou to the cats involved.

Sometimes a bit of humour in the face of fear is no bad thing.
Especially if you like cats of course.

No incidents - apart from one involving a car crash and shooting out tyres.

Heh. Good stuff.
I'm guessing the hot words / hashtags were used on pics of cats to make it hard to find anything useful? Wouldn't load up for me.

Yes, I messed up the link. Don't know how. Fixed now.

@Conflicts: UPDATE: Situation in #Roubaix a bank robbery, not terror-related. As such, will end coverage.

An account of what happened at the Bataclan from the band's perspective.

Strong rumours that EODM are going to make a guest appearance at U2's Paris show tonight. If true, great to see them returning and performing at Paris so soon.

Salah Abdeslam arrested:
http://www.bbc.com/news/world-europe-35846954

Paris attacks suspect Salah Abdeslam has been wounded and arrested in a dramatic raid in Brussels after four months on the run.

Another man arrested, Monir Ahmed Alaaj, was also on a wanted list, Belgian prosecutors said.

Three members of a family accused of harbouring Abdeslam have also been detained.

French President Francois Hollande said he expected Abdeslam to be extradited to France "as rapidly as possible".
