He is actually a reminder of how far we are off the top, that a team like Bayern could spare him and he is one of our best players.

He is what a footballer should be and what profile we need to look for in future signings. Can pass with both feet, can beat a man, can dribble, can tackle, consistently performs at a good level. Huge bargain.

Brilliant so far.

He's better defensively than AWB and in terms of quality on the ball he's in a totally different universe to AWB.

Wan Bissaka was shit in every department but slide tackles. Any half competant player with good technical ability and a defensive brain would have been better than him.

Maz is showing exactly what you want from your fullbacks, being defensively solid, tidy on the ball and gets forward with purpose.

Was watching West Ham yesterday. They lost the ball, counter, and 5-6 players were sprinting back to try and intercept.
AWB was just jogging back, totally uninterested. That happened here so many times, it would make my blood boil. Happy he's not our problem anymore.

He got a 7 year deal at West Ham, they've to look at that for a while yet.

So infuriating that his brilliant overlapping runs were largely ignored by the left forwards, Garnacho in the previous game and Rash this game. Would’ve been easy cutbacks/crosses for the striker to tap in, and yet the LWs messed up. Hope Amorim could get the simple patterns to work when he’s here.

He makes some very good ones every game but our attacking players lack of IQ ignores them most of the time. In fact, so many of the each other runs are missed out by our attacking players because of their lack of footballing IQ. Maybe it'll improve as Garnacho and Hojlund are still very young, but it's very frustrating seeing them miss so many easy and obvious passes every game.

Feels like an age since we could say it, but, what a signing.

Not the best athlete as such but just so good on the ball.

Remember when people were moaning about AWB leaving?! Crikey

He doesnt look particularly strong, but is smart enough to use the body and step in when needed to steal the ball. Decent touch and turn making him press resistant enough to keep a bit of possession. Hopefully he gets his goal soon, he deserves praise. one of our best players and quite surprisingly so. Bonus to make a good deal for once it seems. No Alex Telles again.

Dalot is far from 3rd IMHO. De Ligt, Amad, Garnacho, Bruno all ahead if him
You may have had an argument until you mentioned Bruno.... there is absolutely no way Bruno has more influence on the game more than Dalot. Unless you are also including negative influences.

Yeah he’s been brilliant for that price. I like him. Was worried about him defensively after the Liverpool game but he’s been solid since:

But that bit about not being the best athlete is correct. As good as he is I can never see him being a full back bombing down the wings, getting past people and creating goals. Be very interesting to see how Amorim uses him.

Looking like one of the best signings in a long while. Considering what we payed, an actual bargain for once.

I was told Mazraoui is a sick note and won’t be available half the time. So who is this ever present and reliable FB we have?

And if what we wanted was a tackler, Fosu Mensah was better than him in that regard.

Because they're after players who can play football. When you have so many there bound to be a surplus. Us, on the other hand.... we love signing players who are allergic to the ball. Or a one trick pony that is shite at everything else.

I don't know how people can watch him and be happy/satisfied with Dalot
Tbf Dalot is having a mare of a season, and after watching Maz play a 12-14 games for us, I acknowledge that on pure technical level and ability as a FB, Maz is definitely better, Dalot is only physically superior, Dalot had a really excellent season in 23/24, consistently played well, and Maz was brought in a competition and cover for Dalot and to cover the LB spot as well, and now I am thinking if we have a fit and performing LB (Shaw or Malacia) then I am actually thinking Maz is the better player in the RB role, even if Dalot is playing and performing well.

Is this real? Might be the stupidest post I’ve ever seen. I’m not sure if it’s real.

Maz is clearly a superior/better player, and I don't know how anyone could have doubts/still be thinking about it after watching Dalot at United for like 7 years. Dalot's "excellent" season is overstated, and largely because he improved from a really low baseline. His proneness to lapses in concentration is a constant defensively, and despite looking like someone that should offer a lot offensively, he seldom does. That's the thing about Dalot, he looks like someone that should be a really good player, but he just doesn't deliver consistently. I think he'd be a good understudy though.

Our players are very clever looking arsed for the camera. Fake pressing without any real intent. But once you zoom them down and see it's all just rashfordism.

My understanding is that he couldn't be "spared". He wrote something pro-Palestine on one of his social media accounts and that led to a meeting which ultimately led to him leaving.

It's also £15m as we'd already given them a boatload of cash for de Ligt

Saw it. It was unbelievable. No effort to get back by him. He was ahead of three teams…but they all sprinted past him.

made me grateful for Mazraoui

God damn we’ve been awful haven’t we. 50m for AWB. A significant loss…and then we buy his replacement for 15m

the bolded bit is slightly unfair, he was really very good last season, but I also know he was basically hopeless in his early years here, this year he is reminding me why many here thought he was hopeless before and he needs to buck up his ideas soon.

on Maz, totally agree, I knew he was quality, but I am pleasantly surprised at how good he actually is.

He just does everything well. A very good footballer, on either flank. Been our most consistent player.

Absolute steal we got him for. He's mint.

And whoever is playing forward on his wing seriously needs to get their head up and see him. Great overlapping runs and is barely fed the ball.

He has lost the ball around 170 times in 11 games. Has only 2 goals this season so far.
As a captain he whinges about 15 times average a game at mistakes made by team mates considering the fact 1 in 3 times he makes one himself but says nothing.
He is clearly out of position 60 to 70 per cent a game, thinks running around headless helps when it doesn't.

But it's a characteristic of a the Cafe to just forget about everything bad as long as a player gets a goal. So yeah, Bruno overall is the downfall of 50 per cent of out midfield issues and attacks.

I feel our wide players are more interested making space a shot for themselves than creating better chances for someone else. I don't know if this is the tactical plan and the full backs when overlapping are just there to stretch the defence or they are just in it for themselves but they only really pass when the shot isn’t on, which is often too late. (same with playing in to the striker). A balance of both would be good to keep the opposition guessing.

For essentially a swap with AWB he seems unbelievable business.

Sad we've signed so many players that make his ability to just take the ball and then do something sensible with it seem like some mythical power.
