With Otamendi our first choice defence (hopefully) would be: Darmian - Smalling - Otamendi - Shaw

Second choice: Valencia - Jones - Rojo - Blind

Third choice: Varela - McNair - Evans - Blackett

That is some fecking depth we'd have.

You'd have to say it's been a very good window if we sign Memphis, Schmidfield, Darmien then Otamendi and Pedro whilst keeping hold of De Gea (also signing Romero who I've no idea about tbh).

I still reckon it's more likely it will be City. They are going all out with him and De Bruyne.

If we got Pedro and Otamendi this will have been perfect window.

I'd be very surprised if City are truly in for Otamendi. Despite what many think I believe City are happy with our current CB options (Komps, Mangala, Demichelis and Denayer)

Demichelis is 47 though and won't keep playing much longer.

Haha 34 but I get your point. I just think that having promoted Denayer from the Academy City will not be looking to bring in another experienced CB.

So, apparently the tv station SillasGol have legal documents proving that a move is imminent, however, it is not revealed who the buying team is.

It wasn't my proclamation, LVG said it himself and I'm merely quoting the great man.

And your not so bad yourself...... Impending bromance :wenger:

Kinda thought you were succumbing to this "LCB always" bullshit though & not fighting the good fight brother :D

I've no intention of ever gettin onboard this whole RCB & LCB combo - it's doin my head in thinkin about it now. I'm gonna be a mental case if this LCB & RCB combo shit actually does happen..

This all strikes me as games. Those closest to United all said no interest.
Doesn't mean anything to be fair, wouldn't be the first time we lied about that. Also, situations change. Ramos most likely signing a new contract now, might force us to look somewhere else. Jones being injured might contribute to that as well. I would be delighted if we got him, from what I've seen he's an absolute beast and suits the premier league perfectly imo. I've only watched him in 4-5 games though ...

Could well be. I still think there's a chance Mangala will come good eventually.

No I don't think it matters, you should see my footie manager team right footers everywhere

Completely understandable chaos too, if Blind is picked ahead of better options. But LvG, does what he wants, doesn't he?

He certainly does. Chuck Norris jokes are in the process of being changed to Louis Van Gaal jokes - Chuck's gettin the f*ck outta Dodge..

Calm down, you are only discussing potential scenarios thusfar. Besides, Blind didnt play that badly in the opening game aye ?

I've nothing against Blind & he played grand against Spurs indeed, but he aint physical enough to be a top-tier CB against big strapping Strikers.

Rojo is a warrior, pretty decent on the ball & should be ahead of Blind as our CB, but not ahead of Smalling or (hopefully) Otamendi either.

Have any of the English guys on Twitter been the ones breaking our transfer stories this season though?
Of course they have. The first time Morgan Schneiderlin was linked with United it was through the journalists. I recall Schweinsteiger's name coming up months ago when ""top German sources" were still calling it nonsense.

Then again, it depends who people follow. I only follow those I trust and block those I don't. They do well for me. A lot of them get briefed by Woodward personally in meetings from time to time too, so they obviously have their source.

I think the Otamendi stuff in nonsense based on the ones I trust. I'd be very surprised if it wasn't.

Aye. Too many sources have claimed we have zero interest in Otamendi, then again he is a Mendes client as far as I remember so maybe he has managed to convince us yet again.

Soooo, any truth in this or just paper crap since Ramos is about to sign a new contract?

How credible is this silasgol?

Really? I remember it differently. Scheniderlin was said to be close by Infosport and Schweini was linked with us through Kicker, saying good english sources told them we wanted him.

If we sign Pedro and Otamendi, will we actually have more Spanish speaking players than English?

Get him in. Jones, Evans and Rojo can't be relied on if Smalling gets injured.

Spanish speakers: De Gea, Rojo, Mata, Hernandez, Romero, Herrera, Valencia, Valdes, Varela (9)
English speakers: Jones, Evans, Rooney, Smalling, Carrick, Young, Wilson, Shaw, McNair, Lingard, Blackett, Johnstone, Powell (13)

So no. Of course there are plenty of other players who speak English/Spanish in the squad too, but not as their first language.

Refusing to acknowledge interest in Otamendi would make sense from a United perspective. Potentially, at least. Our party line all summer has been 'no Ramos, no De Gea'. We've been keen to make it clear that it's Ramos we want and that is all.

Of course, that could very well be true, but if we were going to strike this deal then now would be around about the right time to do so, given Ramos' impending renewal.

Mike is not the one who should be worried here, it's Rojo, Evans and Jones, McNair and Blackett.

Rojo doesnt need to be worried, he is a left footer and can also play at LB, will get plenty of games. Jones is for some reason rated too, but the other 3 should be worried and are not good enough anyway

so you don't include Blind in there. so that means the position to concern is RCB. how can you say Smalling won't be worried?
then you also include Rojo who will certainly play as LCB

What excites people more the double swoop of Bastian and Morgan or the potential double swoop of Pedro and Otamendi? I'd honestly have the biggest hard on if we managed to get Otamendi. Should have got him 2 months ago

Assuming Pedro and Otamendi arrives, that would be 11 Spanish speakers. If DDG stays, Johnstone is likely to go on loan. 11 vs. 12.

DDG
ROMERO--------ROJO------OTAMENDI------VARELA
HERRERA-------VALDEZ
VALENCIA------------------------------PEDRO
MATA------HERNANDEZ

ROONEY-----WILSON
LINGARD--------------------------------YOUNG
CARRICK----------JONES
SHAW----------EVANS------SMALLING----------McNAIR
JOHNSTONE

Which team would win if they lined up like this?

This is from SW:

We can't say anything about the credibility of Sillas Gol, we've never heard of it before today. It exists, which is the hurdle things often fall at, and we haven't heard anything bad. There's nothing new from Super Deporte, Onda Cero haven't finished their Valencia show today, and other Valencia sources are quiet so far. Interestingly, Gazzetta dello Sport reckon Garay has already agreed to join Valencia.

Right that makes perfect sense.
