Why is there even a discussion about his pace anyway? He has more than enough pace and it has never been a problem for him. Look at the gifs in the previous page - he managed to chase down a Bale that is running straight at his goal, how much more pace do you want from him? Usain Bolt level?

Pace was barely mentioned to be fair, but it turned into a discussion about who's the quickest player at the club. I think most posters are aware pace is far from the most important attribute for a centre back. For some reason it's gone the other way now, and people react with outrage if the topic of pace is even brought up.

I think that would only happen if we also offer a player in exchange, like maybe Hernandez.
His agent has been saying that he's going to do whatever it takes to force a move and is angry that Valencia are trying to make it look like he wants to say. Also said that the release will have to be paid I think (50m euros)

According to SSN, his agent was talking to "Cadena Ser" and stated his clients wants out.
We were reported to have made a bid for him a few months ago which makes sense when his agent comes out and says he's told the president he wants to leave 2 months ago. Seems to be plenty behind this and I'm all for it he looks quality.

Better, more experienced and developed, not injury prone, and Argentinian version? Kind of I guess, from what I've seen. But then again, Jones is a pretty all around defender, who is just young and gets way too injuries. A commanding, experienced center back who can stay fit is exactly what we need.

We really need a partner to Smalling, and Otamendi seems like the perfect one, maybe the new Rio + Vidic?

I have the feeling we will go after two CB's and I won't be surprised if we went for both. I think Evans is as good as gone, Blackett isn't PL material no matter how we try to dress it, McNair might get loaned out, Jones, Smalling and Rojo fitness hasn't impressed at all this past season.
CB Pair of Otamendi and Laporte, a fit Luke Shaw and a good RB would be stuff of dreams!

Hes been a lot better than Jones this season, the only issue with Otamendi is that he has suddenly had an awesome season. If he continues with this seasons form then we'll have no issues if we signed him.
Not sure it'd knock that much off as Hernandez only has a year of his contract left and it's pretty common knowledge we're happy to let them go, but certainly worth seeing if they'd be willing to take either to get some money off the deal.

Surprised he has the balls to demand a move after signing a 5 year contract just 17 months ago, and after just one whole season at Valencia. Good news for us for sure but wouldn't want this attitude going against us in the future. I guess it is in Valencia's interest considering how much they spent on him compared to the fee they will no receive.
Well, he's 27 and when a club like Manchester United comes calling, you just don't let that opportunity pass.
