Nicolas Gaitan

My concern of the fee isn't from comparative deals made by the selling clubs it is from comparative inward deals made by our rival clubs. If this deal were to be true then they certainly seem to be buying better than us.

Silva and Mata would have been sensational for us. I am not writing Gaitan off but he hasn't done anything to suggest that he is on the level of those two.

He is worth 5m on his age and potential. If Bebe is worth 7m then damn it Macheda is worth 5m!

By that reckoning we should all make player evaluations based Bebe's 7m price tag and Carroll's 35m price tag.

So if Gaitan signs, does this mean the end for the potential signing of Hazard?

Being left footed is nice. I think he's primarily a CAM anyway, I think it's a sign that Fergie wants to start using 4-3-3 more again.

(Mind you, the story could be nonsense)

I wouldn't be pleased if Fabio moves away permanently. We should have been resting Evra and giving him more games anyway.

Does Fabio leaving not leave us a bit light on fullback cover, particularly leftback?

Probably spells the end for Park? A player that can play out wide as well as in the middle.

Have not seen enough of him to juge so I'm ready to be positively surprised by him.

I would agree with that, and having thought about it over the last day or so, an idea I have come up with is this:

Is Fergie sending Fabio out on loan to give him a full season of top flight football, in line to maybe come back in and replace Evra in 2013/14? In a similar way to the Welbeck/Cleverley loan deals. Alongside that, removing Fabio from the equation for a year would boost Fryers up the pecking order, potentially giving him more game time and thus boosting the chances of him signing a new deal in the summer?

Ducker and redrichio v burt. Ding ding.

Plus the Portuguese media. Who exactly has told you that we aren't after him?

And don't tell me you're going off what Ducker has been told by old Trafford sources, as there's no way we'd ever tell him the truth about our dealings. Unless you know SAF or David Gill then it is unlikely you have a clue who we are after.

There's a strong possibility that Fábio will go to Benfica", Fábio's agent Cassiano Pereira tells Portuguese sports daily O Jogo.

I hope I'm right. I've never really been a big fan of gaitan's. I must admit I got worried the other day when meulensteen starting wanking over hazard. If rene says we're after someone we usually aren't! Time will tell!

You're not really a fan of Gaitan's on the basis of, what, 3/4 games?

It'll be a loan only.

That would certainly be better for us. Only question is that if he goes on loan we'll surely need to buy another left back, which could leave him further down the pecking order. I suppose there's fryers, but I can't see what others see in him.

So if the guardian are indeed correct then O jogo in Portugal can be considered a reputable source seem as they printed this a good few days ago. Great news if true! I guess Fergie's interest in Hazard was just a smokescreen to confuse City and Fergie obviously could just see the Hazard transfer becoming a bidding war. Genius

Why not? How often have you seen him?

I've seen bugger all and I thought he looked good, but far from enough to say I am or am not a fan of him.

EDIT: Didn't realise he was 24. Seems quite old for us for a foreigner.

Sorry, what I meant to say is that since he's been at benfica, in the dozen or so games that I've seen him, he hadn't blown me away. I don't think he's shit. I'd be intrigued as to where we'd play him too.

So what's he like? Has he got great ability on the ball or is he more about sticking to the by line and putting in a delivery?

I trust the manager with his signings so will look forward to seeing Gaitan at Utd if this is all true. He obviously has seen something in him that he think's will improve on what we have already.

I've the same feelings. We've been scouting him for over one year now and the manager have seen him in action from the stadium(other then the matches he played against us).

Low centre of gravity, tricky little bugger, can beat his man. Not convinced by his end product. Hard to tell in the Portuguese league. He's done ok in the cl this season from the four games I've seen.

Aye, he's sure as hell a better judge than any of us tards. Anyway, let's wait and see if anything develops. Hands up if I'm wrong.

The Telegraph would suggest some level of confirmation I suppose.

Nobody else running this yet however?

I'd be hesitant.

Fair point Werds

So long as we sign one genius footballsex ball playing midfielder I am not too bothered who else joins.

So he's the same age (next season) as another promising young attacking midfielder we paid a Portugese club big bucks for a few years back. Let's hope both of them can do well, eh? :)

Well one things for sure if we're getting Gaitan our fans will have to show more tolerance to taking a tumble than what's been exhibited in the Ashley Young thread cos he doesn't half like a little roll.

I'm still not convinced that the Gaitán - MUFC deal is going to happen. All the people I'd expect to know are denying it. Every one of them.

For those asking Gaitan, I'll stress again, is NOT going to Manchester United #MUFC
