Gaitan deal done..

I would however listen to James ducker, the man who broke the de gea transfer weeks before anyone else. It's also very rare for him to be as outspoken on twitter as to call something horseshit.

I can see it happening to be honest. Fabio to benfica makes sense as well. Good team, and language and culture shouldn't be an issue. Obviously i'd rather we get Hazard or Munian, but this fella might do just as well...

Was that not ballague?

Neway whoever says gaitan is "soft", since when was football a hardman competition in the last 6 years?

Nani is hardly what you would of called a hardman, but hes done just fine.

Gaitan would be an improvement on park, and thats all i think we need.

4 strong players for striker, 4 strong wingers, 4 strong cm's (which we lack).

I have no doubt we will be addressing 3 positions this year.

1 winger, 1 fullback and a cm.

Hopefully Ducker is right, I think the story has been concocted based off Fabio's agent's comments.

Agree with your last point. 1 winger, 1cm, 1 fullback.

I'm still not convinced that the Gaitán - MUFC deal is going to happen. All the people I'd expect to know are denying it. Every one of them.

For those asking Gaitan, I'll stress again, is NOT going to Manchester United #MUFC

Oh well.

To the Hazard thread!

Because his story is bullshit. :)

I just posted the first few tweets on my timeline on twitter who were commenting on it. I'm not suggesting they are the great football sages.

They sound like people just commenting, as you said. I don't think they have any sort of inside knowledge on the situation.

James Ducker could have been told by someone at Old Trafford that we aren't interested, hence his conviction. In fact, he must have spoken to someone that is at the club for him to be so convinced. The question is were they telling the truth?

They would never tell a journalist about interest in a player.

There isn't a shred of proof to suggest we are interested in Hazard. I thought it was agreed that Fergie was watching the Lille fullback.

None of that is impossible but it's almost unheard of for a big transfer to happen on the quiet. Hernandez was really the exception that proves the rule.

We'll see anyway.

That was an unknown player from a South American league. Gaitan has a completely different profile.

I am taking all these reports with a pinch of salt but there certainly is a lot of smoke here. With Mendes being his agent I am inclined to believe this rumour has more basis than your regular pap.

James Ducker and the Telegraph reporter both obviously have sources that they trust but either source could be misinformed (intentionally or otherwise) or in Ducker's case, out of the loop.

If you ask me, there is something going on with Gaitan. I would not be surprised if he was being used as a red herring while we work on our other targets nor would I be surprised if we were actually interested in him.

Who agreed? Meulensteen said Fergie was there to watch Hazard.

Gaitan is 24 years old, and from what I've seen, no better than good. We've plenty of good players already.

Is the most recent bump of this story because of reports of Fabio's loan move to Benfica ? Seems like a case of 2+2 = whatever

Well no coincidence Fabio gets shipped off their. It probably got mentioned in a conversation whilst trying to haggle over one of their players. Sneak feeling is that we are more likely to Get Witsel or Garcia though. Which to be honest isn't bad.

Doesn't anyone think it strange that Fabio would agree to being loaned to a club that isn't near his bro?

I can see him being loaned to North West club, but Benfica feels too far away.

They're not Siamese twins, mate. If Fab feels Benfica is a good career move the distance won't stop him.

Can't see us going for Hazard myself. He's constantly whoring himself out and its not the sort of player we go for. We want a player that has eyes for Old Trafford only, not one that is potentially creating a huge bidding war by name dropping every club. We won't get involved in all that.

James Ducker got the De Gea story very, very early, in December in fact. No maybes, no ifs, no buts, he said we're signing him. So he does have some contract somewhere. Might not be with United but with Mendes, who knows.

We need someone who will improve this team, not only create more of the squad depth.

Rene said, not long ago that Fergie was watching Hazard, but we don't know for sure which one he rates, more.

Maybe we'll end up signing Gary Neville from Sky Sports. God knows.

In the interests of balance.

@MUFC_83 Are you M16_0RA? I can't keep up with your namechanges. Yes I think it's a possible. Not 'horseshit'.

He had quite an unimpressive season and most Benfica fans are happy to see him leave for 20 million, let alone with a couple of players added. Seemed to have more potential a season or two ago.

I think their CM Axel Witsel would be a much useful player for United, I think he'll become world class.

Telegraph have run a whole story stating what United can expect from their new signing! Surely they wouldnt print a concrete story like that unless they have gotten some factual news from somewhere. Usually you know its bullshit when all the papaers claim we are on the verge of signing someone without backing it up with any more info on it. Telegraph have gone way beyond just linking us with the player

Agreed.

according to the espn pundits, its a done deal, they say it's 20 million pounds plus macheda for gaitan

have we gone crazy?

Why? I honestly cant understand the hate for this transfer? Is it simply because people fear signing Gaitan means we wont address the centre of midfield? Usually any attacking player we bring in is universally rejoiced and yet Gaitan seems to be an exception

20m for a 24 year old Argentina international is a good bit of business imo

He looks quite a useful player and different to what we already have, that's why I'm quite happy for this transfer to go ahead.

Is Witsel one of Mendez's butt boys? If the answer is yes then we stand a chance of signing him.
