Nicolas Gaitan

Yup. So many players and we land on him every fecking time. I wonder how!

Does anyone really know who we are linked to?
Since LVG started all the rumours have died off and we have also publicly distanced ourselves from previous targets.

If we go for Gaitan, when Sanchez is available, someone needs to have his head checked. Seriously it doesn't make any sense.

wouldn't say so with 4 goals and no (!) assist in 24 games

No assists from 3.2 key passes a game and 2.8 accurate crosses a game says something about the team and the strikers ability to put the ball away

Rooney had 10 assists from 1.9 key passes and 1.2 crosses

Mata 4 assists from 2.2 key passes and 0.9 crosses

Then there's someone like David Silva who had the same 3.2 key passes a game as Gaitan (the most in the league in fact) with 1.2 accurate crosses, and he had 9 assists.

At the end of the day its a key pass because it was a direct chance. Its an accurate cross because its a direct chance. If the Benfica strikers are missing the chances its not much fault of Gaitan

While these numbers don't mean Gaitan is as good as Silva or something ludicrous like that, it shows he had a good season creating chances for Benfica in the Champions League and Europa League. No idea about Liga Sagres because I dont know of any websites that have the data, but the european competitions are a better gauge of how good he is.

The european matches I saw of Benfica he had mostly good performances

42 games, 7 goals, 10 assists. 26/4/5 in the league. Assist-stats from the Portuguese league are N/A at a lot of the usual places but transfermarkt do 'em.

On the left. In previous seasons I know he played on the right, I think this one he was almost always left.

It's okay, you can say van Gaal.

To be honest, I'm willing to trust van Gaal on the transfers in and out of the squad. He knows what he wants from his team and if certain players fit a particular system. I will fully judge the players after they sign and play for us.

I have no idea if it's Van Gaals idea or not. Probably is and as good as he is as a manager, he is rather poor in the transfer market. I trust him to make the most out of the squad, and make us play good attacking football again, but Gaitan over Sanchez would be mental. Like Fellaini over Thiago/Strootman

Of course it would be van Gaal's idea. We wont sign players unless he wants them. Maybe Sanchez isn't leaving or maybe he has told us he doesn't want to join us.

Bullshit. He'd just add to the problems with Mata and Kagawa. Atleast Di Maria offers something different.

If Gaitan is worth 45m euros Di Maria is worth 120m.

Feck even Cuadrado would fetch 80m+

Would have been a pretty shit signing back when it was first rumoured, even worse now.

Why would LvG buy someone considered a no 10 when he's already moaned about having too many? Don't believe this for one moment, he will be looking for either defenders, DCMs or wingers surely.

This guy is clueless. It wasn´t "Record" that spoke first about the Rojo deal. It was "O Jogo". Record is as reliable as the "Daily Mail". If it was up to Record you would have signed Gaitan and Garay 200 times already.

Both reported Rojo bid together tbf. Record was ahead on when the deal was agreed and when he was flying etc..

No. O Jogo reported first. It was also the only newspaper to have " Rojo to United is a done deal" in their front page after his Sporting interview. O Jogo editor was also the first journalist in a TV sports show talking about the deal. They were the first. You´d know that if you had access to portuguese tv also. About Rojo flying to Manchester it was neither. It was Sic Notícias

5 years too late. And I don't see him adding anything to the squad to be honest.

O Jogo are reliable. Record and A Bola are shit i think. This one is hopefully their usual shit again.

Don't bump old megathreads, either start a new one or better yet when the source is this crap just don't bother.
