Yes, he was on loan to Bolton last season, but at only 19 years old I don't think he played much.

This season he already conquered a first-team place though, and has been scoring quite a lot lately.

Thanks for the information. How is Iturbe doing for you lot, I think I've read somewhere that United has just parked him at Porto so that he gets European Experience before signing him(again that Jorge Mendes link)

Iturbe has barely played this season, which is rather unfortunate in my opinion. From the very little I've seen of him I think he's better than other players that are getting more minutes, and it seems he's unhappy at the club at the moment. We need a new manager urgently, the current one is totally crap. Doesn't even give him a chance in the League Cup.

I'd really hate to seem him leave without watching more of him.

You are the one stating there may be a possibility that Nani doesn't want to stay and could conceivably have asked to move on last Summer.

All based on sweet FA.

Of course people would be upset if Nani left, there has been no indication whatsoever that he is going to move on, just made up theories of yours.

Well somebody's going to be leaving if Gaitan's signed.

Giggs will be likely playing less and less of a role next season, not to mention Scholes, there's no need to assume someone will have to leave to accommodate a new midfielder.

Because we wouldn't be able to offer enough playing time to everyone and then there's the 25 man squad limit as well.

We've enough need for a central midfielder.

Diouf left the club, PIG and Owen will likely follow and there are still question marks about whether Scholes, Berbs and Fletcher will remain as United players.

Berbatov could certainly leave but I'd be surprised if we didn't replace him with another striker.

Take out PIG, Owen, De Laet and Bebe and we're left with 24 players who need to be registered in the PL squad next season. Jones would have to be registered in the CL squad so that's 25. Obviously there are doubts over the future of a few of those 25 players and I'd chuck Anderson into the equation too.

I don't think we'll start next season with Young, Valencia, Park, Gaitan (or a similar player), Rooney and Nani all at the club. That's my point.

I see your point. However, could it be the case that we're reverting to the 4-2-3-1 system once again? In that case, Rooney, Welbeck and Hernandez would be more then enough for upfront.

Can you explain this further? I didnt realise we had anything to do with Iturbe other than being linked to him!

Iturbe hasn't played very many games for Porto this season. But I read about us having him parked at Porto for experience rumour as well.

Wait, first time in this thread. Nani wanted to / wants to leave? This is news.

Can this Gaitan fellow play in a 2 man midfield? I'm sure it's been covered in the thread. Just don't have the time to search right now.

Is that accurate? I thought we were well within the squad limits thanks to our young players and home growns?

I think this deal is like De Gea one i.e I think it'll eventually be go through.

Agreed, it sounds like De Gea / Valencia deals, when it was obvious it was gonna happen for a long time.

I really like the look of him from the few times I've seen him.

With regards to whether we would need to sell someone to accommodate him, if Fergie plans to play him from a wide position, then possibly we might. Who that might be I'm not sure, but it might possibly be Park. I can't see us selling Nani/Valencia/Young.

However, if Fergie decides he wants him to be a central midfielder, then we do not need to.

Gaitan has some nice tekkers in those vids. Reminds me of Deco, his playing style.

Signing Argentines always worries me now had some back luck with them. Can't say I know to much about this player though apart from the fact we are linked with him every other week.

Has anyone put forward a lineup/formation with him in it yet?

I realise some people have decided to follow me round this place mocking my every word but if you count the number of shits on the wall in say six months time you'll find there'll be a fair few; one of those sticky shits will be nani having left united and another is likely to be gaitan having joined.

Any reason why United would seek to get rid of one of their most important, and talented players, to bring in an unknown quantity, for a similar fee? What do they gain from selling a proven quality player to sign an unproven one?

It's not as simple as that though is it? If Nani wants to leave and has refused to sign a new contract then he'll be sold this Summer providing the club he wants to join offers an acceptable transfer fee.

DOes he want to leave? Has he refused a contract?

I don't know! But IF he does want to leave and doesn't wish to sign a new contract then it's very likely that he'll leave this Summer.

Maybe this season was the extra year though after he'd asked to leave last Summer?

And with two years left on his contract we could reasonably expect a £30m+ transfer fee as opposed to the £15m-£20m with one year left.

Did he ask for a transfer last Summer?

First I've heard of it.

I've no idea. I was merely speculating as to why this season might be his last at the club. Hopefully he signs a new contract at some point over the next five/six months but it wouldn't come as a huge surprise if he fancied a move abroad after five years at the club.

So, out of a friendlytramp rumour, you've managed to concoct a scenario where Nani hypothetically wants to leave, refused to sign a contract, and gave an extra year this year because he wanted to leave last summer, through no knowledge or foundation and pure guesswork and speculation. Priceless.

The co commentator on Sky is really ripping into him in this game

I'm watching this match just to give you Muppets a scout report of Gaitan. Like a true Muppet I'll proclaim my first and final judgement on this player despite only watching him for forty five minutes.

Gaitan's shot is saved by Zenit's keeper, and Cardozo scores. Poor goalkeeping though.
The commentator is a fecking moaner.
Gaitan is subbed off, okayish match, did nothing of note in second half except for that assist and a run where he should have crossed rather than going for the goal.
