Yep such is the competitiveness of the Premier League very literally any team can win it. You have to beat out other 19 teams, not... IDK who are PSG's rivals in Ligue 1?

What an absolute crock of pony.

Last 20 years in England, 5 winners, with Leicester an absolute miracle
Last 20 years in France? 8 different winners!

yes PSG have won the last 4 years, but that is what can happen when one team is insanely fuelled beyond anyone else.
Chelsea threatened to do exactly that, only Fergie's magic and City coming in with even sillier money stopped it being the same here.
And this last year, was an absolute aberration.

Proper service will be resumed next year.

Arsène Wenger effusive with his praise for N’Golo Kanté

Speaking on the BeIN Sports Euro Show tonight, Arsenal manager Arsène Wenger was effusive with his praise for Leicester City midfielder N’Golo Kanté.

He had the following to say:

“I admire and like N’Golo Kanté a lot. It gives you ideas… He gives you the feeling that the higher the level he plays at, the more at ease he is. We are talking about numbers. He has the most interceptions in Europe & by far. He has incredible quality. He feels the game, only very few people can do that. He’s always where he needs to be. It is very rare to have that in the central midfielder. Not always orthodox, but always in the right place.”

So right now we know one team is insanely fuelled beyond anyone else in Ligue 1 and has won the title 4 years in a row, we know there are a greater plethora of strong teams in the Premier League and we know absolute aberrations of the rule book are possible in the Premier League?

You make a very strong case.

He has been pretty Okay so far except 1-2 good tackles.Romanians are neither throwing body forward nor making direct runs(with ball) from midfield. So it's been an easy game for him.
Not worth all the hype he is getting as one of the best destroyer/interceptor of the game.

That first 45mins just confirmed to me that he isn't a one season wonder and he is in fact the real deal.Complete beast.Wins absolutely everything and knows his on the pitch.Such a tidy passer of the ball.As far as I can see he's the deepest midfielder. We should be preparing a bid immediately.

Who's better than him regarding this?

Sergio Busquets/Verratti are 2 names that i can think of directly - Even Thiago would do a better job than what he is doing tonight against this romanian team.I am sure Morgan can do the same job he is doing today against an inferior defensive minded opposition.

20m release clause. jesus christ. Just going from players with known release clauses you could make a top class midfield from kante = 20m Pjanic=30m Greizman=45m

Completely different player who is unsuited to this role. Would Iniesta do a better job than Kante against the inferior Romanian team?

Iniesta is a completely different player - he is more of a AM and LWM as compared to Thiago who is a proper CM and can play in a 2 man midfield . In a game against this Romanian side who are not attacking through the middle and only playing 1 striker, you need CMs who can start multiple attacks from own half , find a pass to two attacking wide players and do the minimal defensive work. I would personally prefer Thiago/Verratti - Mataudi against this Romanian side .

Matuidi has been shit so far.

If he's available for £20 million as is suggested then the top clubs will be queuing up.

Great defending, loads of energy, reads the game well and not a bad (if not great) passer.

We should be all over it.

He's done what he's done tonight all season in the PL. That's why we should be looking at him.

Every big club in the world will be after this fecker if he has a release clause. He basically went in 2 years from playing in Ligue 2 to being the best DM in the world. Crazy!

The chances of him playing for Leicester next season are zero.

He had an exceptional season and was THE stand out player in so many games throughout the season. I was just saying he was good today - not a World class game as suggested by some.To be fair to him romanians did not spend much time in France half and this was not a game to judge his real ability/showcase his actual worth.Games against Spain/Germany would be a better indicator of his talent.
Regarding buying him- we have more concerned positions(RW/ST/CAM) that needs significant upgrade/purchase than the CDM position this transfer window.

Absolute boss of a player. Dominates the midfield, cuts everything out and just doesn't give opposition time. Excellent reading of the game

Schneiderlin and £30 million should do the trick. Would love him here. Had a fantastic game tonight.

I don't get what the fuss here at all? I meant first game against Romania whom lacks in attacking prowess, and their attackers often isolated and required to work alone. Kante did well for his role requirement. I saw Lassana Diarra gave a more convincing performance for Marseille in the same role against superior PSG, Lassana Diarra was and rightfully deserve the starter spot, but doesn't mean United should sign Diarra right away. Kante had a different role for Leicester than for France. This is one of his few games where he played the Makelele role. His previous games in this role were nothing spectacular. not It's too soon to judge him as must buy. By people reaction, Payet is a must buy by his previous season (and previous season with Marseille) and this opening match where he is outstanding, shit on Griezman, Pogba's hype.

Makelele and his role should be subtle. The more you notice the player in this role, the more problem with the midfield and quality of the opponent. France may not have a balance midfield for Kante to have this much work and be noticeable vs an underwhelming Romania team (in attack and defense). Makelele really stood out in unbalanced Real Madrid team in his role, then Perez don't fancy him as he's not attractive for starting attack. Before Makelele was more subtle as well as effective in a more balanced Real Madrid team. In a balanced Chelsea midfield, Makelele again being subtle and effective. Essien and Lampard got more recognizable, flashy roles. With that in mind, Matuildi and Pogba were ineffective in this game. Pogba as others also noticed in the other thread didn't bother to put in effort in defensive aspect of his game. When Payet took Pogba role, France were more balanced. And I repeat again, Kante did his job well, but too soon to make judgement on this game where he played few games in this different role. Payet has been outstanding the whole game in 2 different positions. Payet is the only one who exceed the expectation of his role by outperforming highly rated Griezman and Pogba in this game, and he plays this kind of role regularly.

I only saw the last 5 minutes of the game, so it has nothing to do with that.

My instinct is never wrong. Kante is the real deal. We need him.

Immense. To be France's only midfield player tonight and still keep everything together takes some fecking skill.

Fantastic. Him and Payet were everything for France. Not just that goal, the whole 90 minutes. Get him.

Against Romania or not the fist Half display by Kante is better than anything I've seen of Schneiderlin. His ability under pressure to progress play from deep, his first time passes from deep to create space for his teammates.

He can be aggressive with the ball too, he can push his team up the field with his passes. He also doesn't wilt under pressure which is what Schneiderlin does.

Huge difference between the two. One could replace Casemiro at Madrid other cant displace Carrick. Levels to this lads.

I thought he had a 20m pound buyout clause or was that proved false?

Either way to not be interested in him as a club would be strange excellent player and a yes a top drawer game tonight along with Payet.

To be fair he was always worth a gamble at that release clause but my god, he is class!

They'll be a mad scrabble for him a that price, and it'll be up to him to take his pick, hopefully the lure of Jose is a strong one.

Out of interest, what are people's plans for our midfield if we were to sign him?

Who would you sell? Who else would you buy? Who would play?

Never really seen him in the actual holding role. It was more in a box to box role.

I said in the 'Schneiderlin vs Kante' that Kante wouldn't be as effective holding because he likes to run around the pitch and press. I take that back.

His ability to read the game is absolutely fantastic. Mourinho would love him. He could be his Makalele.

I would definitely like him at United.

Kante (Holding)
New Player (Box to box) Rooney (Advanced Midfielder)
