N'Golo Kante | Off to Chelsea

Agree, but he is not the glam signing the fifa brigade want.
I love the line...
Two thirds of the world is covered by water,
The rest is covered by N'Golo Kante.

Kante is on a lot of Caf posters muppet lists for this summer in truth, he's often mentioned.

It's really depressing that we won't get to see the Leicester City of last season go full tilt at the Champions League.
I think they'd get found out. It was a terrible PL season in terms of quality and I wouldn't expect too much from Leicester against Spanish teams or the likes of PSG, Juve, Bayern, Dortmund. Still though, it would be very interesting.

If they're selling, we should be buying. Imagine a midfield of Kante and Pogba.

I think we need more creative midfielders than defensive, although I wouldn't mind Kante

They'd actually do really well against those teams since they have a tendency to build through the middle. But only if they have Ngolo Kante with them. He's the one.

Chelsea representatives were at France vs Scotland for N’Golo Kanté

Chelsea had representatives present at France vs Scotland yesterday for N’Golo Kanté, according to our colleagues at Foot 365.

The French international has been pursued intensely by Antonio Conte’s men in recent weeks after they decided that the €45m price tag for Radja Nainggolan that AS Roma have slapped on the Belgian international’s head is too excessive.

Plan B is therefore Leicester’s N’Golo Kanté. Chelsea have had advanced talks with the player over a provisional contract and attempted to convince him to give them the go ahead to activate his release clause.

It was reported by various media outlets several days ago that the player had decided to wait until after EURO 2016 to make a decision on his future, but Chelsea’s presence in Metz last night suggests that CFC are hoping to close this deal before the tournament starts.

They are likely to continue to struggle with their attempts because PSG have come back for the former Caen man strong in recent days, offering him a five year provisional contract, according to Le Parisien.

Kanté appears to have yet to make a decision, having prioritised Arsenal only for the North London side to show less interest recently since the signing of Granit Xhaka.

The player likes the idea of London and therefore Chelsea, but PSG can offer Champions League football, something that Kanté is itching to get a taste of as soon as possible.

It will be a big surprise to me if Mourinho isn't interested in Kante. He's like the prototypical midfielder harasser for a Mourinho side.

PL proven, cheap and really disciplined.

What prices have been going around? I would have thought it would be north of 20m. All things considered, that's quite cheap I guess.

I think it was 20m euros or 25 in that range anyway

I think he'll use Fosu-Mensah in CM next season and turn him into a fantastic player. Between him, Carrick and Schneiderlin we have enough midfielders in a covering role, think our focus will be an attack minded central midfielder.

I think Mourinho stopped using Ramires i his second spell and even at Madrid he had Khedira who isnt just a donkey. Maybe Mourinho doesnt like to use the Ramires/Kante sort of players? Maybe he wants ball playing defensive players in that case Schneiderlin is ideal. Although if france keep using Kante in the deep midfield role at the Euros with Pogba and Matuidi playing off him it would be interesting to see how well he does at distributing the ball.

Kanté deserves to play in a country where people can write his name properly. :p

Not sure... tight, high intensity defending matched with pacey counter attacking could have done a lot of damage I think. Feels like they earned the right to a fair crack at it at the very least.

He probably wants to have a proper career as well though.

If Kante goes, best if it's to PSG or someone that doesn't strengthen our direct rival.

Glad Leicester won it, but have no such "what a shame" feelings about their top boys being sold off now. We need to overtake them, so losing their best players will help us do that.
yes we shouldn't be relying on that, and should be above them anyway, but it's uncertain times.

33/1 Leicester to be relegated not bad value...

It's tough to go down with a proven CB pairing and 2 solid keepers, though I guess a Huth or Morgan injury and the D could fall apart.

How fecking crazy is it that Newcastle didn't just buy a CB in their prime to anchor the backline. Ideally 2, but even one solid guy could have carried Mbemba or Lascelles to 17th place. Even if they'd overpaid they would have saved a huge amount of money with the massive TV revenue difference. They had Yanga-Mbiwa, too.

If we can get Kante and finish up the Rudiger/Nainggolan deals, we will be in decent stead for next season. Big if though.

Quite. Ligue 1 would probably feel like a children's egg and spoon race ribbon compared to the Premier League.
He's carried a relegation team to the title, he must really see EPL as such a big challenge now.

He is a beast, but so is TFM. We can spend the money elsewhere. Would be shame if he went for such low price tag to PSG. Considering his skills would be wasted in a league like that.

Yep such is the competitiveness of the Premier League very literally any team can win it. You have to beat out other 19 teams, not... IDK who are PSG's rivals in Ligue 1?

If you want to pick a fight about who has the biggest league I'm not interested, sorry bro.
You're really obsessed about Ligue 1, I never talked about it. :D
I'm putting you on ignore next time.

Feel free to PM Twigginater for some PL love in though.

This is a Kante thread, you're saying that he will go to PSG, I'm saying he won't, and why. Sorry if you can't take such a fight.

I was making a joke about English keyboards not having the "é" of Kanté and you responded by aggressively berating L1 for no reason. Let's not get this anymore off topic.

Noone knows where he will go next. Chill.

Also carried them past a side that beat you in the Champions League.

Could probably take a second divisions U12's to a Ligue 1 title.

English keyboards can still make é though. Alt Gr.

Don't think schneiderlin has shown anything that Kante hasn't to make him a good choice for the ball playing defensive mid while Kante doesn't.

He did show glimpses of it in his Southampton days and on a few occasions last season. I'm hoping mourinho can get the best out of him. But yeah "ideal" is not the appropriate word, I agree. He definitely can't do it all by himself as van gaal expected him to. He needs a playmaker next to him.

Haven't seen Kante play that role so in his case time will tell.

He's definitely capable of more than what he has shown for us, that is for sure. It's the same with Herrera under LVG, the stupid fecking system simply doesn't suit all action CMs. I think Mourinho will make much much better use of both, especially schneiderlin but I don't think he'll ever be a ball playing defensive mid like an Alonso or a Carrick. Simply doesn't have the passing range to pull it off. He's much better off as either a b2b midfielder or as a hustler in CM partnered with a more attacking CM next to him. Anyways, let's see how Mourinho uses him.

On their teletext service, BBC have a story saying Kante is on only £35k a week at Leicester and that Chelsea want him and will triple his wage. They mentioned PSG, too.

There's no way he stays at Leicester unless they can match the highest wage offer he will receive this summer.

The £35k thing makes sense beings as he was a relative nobody this time last year, but there's going to be some serious negotiating whether he stays or goes.

Have I gone to sleep and woken up in 2001?
