N'Golo Kante | Off to Chelsea

@Varun

I did think my comment would garner some angered replies. Tongue very much in cheek not appreciated?

That quote was not about Pogba deal alone, it's about Transfer summer. Signing Mkhitaryan, Zlatan, Pogba in one window.

Italian managers really know how to use players like Kante. All we can hope is that he sticks the ball in his own net and we can start calling him Owngolo.

Glaston never misses an opportunity to Bash Manchester United transfers & fans - he has done it even on a Kante thread who is a Chelsea player.

Another side offered more than the release clause. Chelsea had to match or better their bid.
Why? Surely you could just meet the release clause and then it would be Kante's decision?

30-35 Million is standard fee for one of the best midfielders in the league. He didn't say every tom, dick and harry would cost that much. Thought that was common sense.

Nor did he say "from within the league", which now suddenly excludes transfers from all of the top leagues across Europe, not to mention the unearthing of gems from lower leagues.

About pogba in Kante's thread? No.

Edit: The post you've quoted is simply about us getting pogba being great and has nothing to do with the poster thinking 100mil for Pogba is the best deal ever or whatever daft statement you made. You get that right?
You get that the comment was very much tongue in cheek, right?

I do think people's ideas of cheap have been distorted by a potential £100m deal for Pogba though. Anything £30m+ is quite expensive in my book.
If paying more than release clause was an option, then how come the other club did not come with another bid and turn it into a bidding war? :D
The Chinese transfer window closed.

No. A Chinese club was interested in him (he turned it down to goto Chelsea apparently).
Then why did Chelsea bid 12m more than his release clause? They could surely just trigger his release clause & Kante would pick Chelsea over the Chinese club.

Because Leicester could reject our offer as long as the Chinese bid was higher.

I think people misunderstand how release clauses work because of computer games.

Namely that they're not all the same. Because there is only one type of release clause in FM, some assume there must only be one type in the real game. A clause in a contract can be whatever the parties agree on. In this case it's as you and the other Chelsea fans have described.

I don't care because it's not relevant to the thread and as you saw, people responded to it taking things away from the discussion which is about Kante.

Okay.

Kante is not cheap. £30m is not cheap in today's market.

Great bit of business by Chelsea. Surprised more clubs didnt try and get him. 32 mil is a bargain if he repeats his form from last year.

Need him more than Pogba, disappointed we are not in for him. That said, i really wish he stayed at Leicester for 1 more year along with the same squad as last year. Greedy footballers eh...
