when a wr is drafted by denver it´s usually some sort of a kiss of death. marcus nash (tennessee) was the biggest draft bust in shanahan´s time here and the jury is still out on lelie. he showed signs he could finally come into his own last season, but yet has to follow up on that this season. we have a speedster in lelie, so if we draft one high it should be a possession type of guy that can make the grab on third down and go over the middle. im still pissed off we passed on ed reed for lelie.
you can call me crazy if you want to, but if mason crosby declares early and hes still there by the time we pick in the 2nd, id do it. elam is getting up there in age and isnt making the kicks he gets top dollar for anymore.
btw, do you see reggie bush as an nfl rb? the guy is great on college level, but i dont really know if he can be an every down back in the nfl. lendale white just seems a bit more suited to that.
it's hard to say about reggie and lendale because I am biased and love both of them.
Lendale is a smaller faster version of Bettis. he really is a tremendous inside runner but with excellent breakaway speed through the first and second layers of the defense, but he rarely will break off a run longer than 50 yards and can be caught. Of course when you bite off large chunks of yardage the way he does it doesn't matter.
he tends to fluctuate in weight and motivation can be a problem occasionally, but if he gets the right coach and role models/ veteran players, He will be a great pro running back. He's very tough to bring down and trying to arm tackle him is futile, defenders have to plant him in the turf to get him down.
Reggie is another matter...he has always had trouble keeping weight on...all though he is solid as a rock...has about 4-5% body fat...is a dedicated worker and team player/leader...has no motivational problems and is a solid citizen.
he is a once in a decade player, and while I don't seem him as the next Thomlinson, I do see him as a new, faster more agile Marshall Faulk. He has the best hands I've seen catching the ball...inclduing receivers as well.
give him a great offensive coordinator in the pros and he will be lethal, but he deffo can't be used to run inside too often for he will take a beating and he is just too important and dangerous, running to the outside and catching the ball etc.
he is listed as 6'0 200, but he is deffo not 6'0. more like 5'10 1/2...he has put on some serious muscle this year, so I'd put him around 205-210, with no loss of agility.
I do think he has lost a touch of speed due to the weight increase, and the wear and tear of trying to prove he is an everydown, inside runner as well as a knock he picked up early in the season.
he will be sensational wherever he goes. every time he touches the ball, anything can happen. He is just a joy to watch for anyone who loves football IMO.
it's doubtfull pro teams will let him return kickoffs though...maybe punts they'll let him because he is too valuable.
IMO, he is the type of player who could rush for 20 touchdowns and catch 10 more per season if used properly the way Marshall Faulk is/was.
