From what i've seen of him i'm wondering what all the fuss is about. There will be another chance perhaps to see him against Ghana on Monday
The fee won't be 60mil, it'll be more like half of it. Although, I thought that Madrid have got this guy signed up.
For anyone who watches Brazilian football regularly, is he really the next big deal or just another Denilson(Betis one)
He divides opinions, no-one really knows. I personally think he's a big risk for the type of money he'll go for but he absolutely has the potential to prove he's worth it and then some. I think there are other very talented players in Brazil that are less risky, and more likely to be the next big thing.
As for the rumours, he's already signed for Barcelona and Madrid in the past year...they're not worth listening too.
From twitter
Reliable twitter source, but Estadão is the only media outlet running the story so far
ESPN Soccernet - On the Move - A mountain out of Cahill
Santos president Luis Alvaro de Oliveira Ribeiro seems to talk about Neymar every day, but his latest quotes are gold.
A Marca journalist said Neymar “must not know who Real Madrid are” if he is prepared to turn down the club, but the president said: “This is a great demonstration of arrogance. They must not know who Santos are. We are in the Club World Cup - they’re not. They talk as though Real Madrid were from another world, another galaxy, and like Brazil is just a satellite."
“The Spaniards seem to think there is still the Treaty of Tordesillas, when South America was just a large colony for the Iberian countries. They don’t realise that our economy today is much stronger than theirs. Spain is in crisis, Brazil is not.”
He added: “The opinions of a journalist do not in any way interfere with the club’s relationship with Real Madrid.”
That's all very well, but TV stations around the world will pay much much more for La Liga live games than Brasileiro live games.
Also, if he hadn't noticed, Real Madrid are not in crisis, even if the rest of La Liga is.
wtf. that'd be insane.
Duh, it's Real Madrid.
According to most Spanish and Brazilian Journalist including Graham Hunter that the deal with Real Madrid is done. Apparently it's worth 60m Euros!
Neymar deal denied | Football News | Sky SportsNeymar has refuted claims that he is set to sign an agreement with Real Madrid after having a medical.
Reports in both Brazil and Spain insist that Real Mardrid put Neymar through tests over the weekend, with a view to signing a contract that would see him joining in the summer of 2012.
There have been pictures of Madrid's head of medical services Carlos Diez landing in Sao Paolo, where he was reported to have overseen a medical test for Neymar.
However, Neymar, speaking after Santos' win over Corinthians on Sunday, insists no deal is done.
"I have been sold around 30 times already," he told Lancenet.
"There is no truth in those rumours. I am a Santos player and I will stay here for the club's centenary."
He also confirmed that he had been to hospital but for personal reasons only, adding: "I went to the hospital to solve a personal problem. The rumours are just speculation. There is no deal at all."
Over the weekend his agent Wagner Ribeiro did confirm that Real was the preferred destination, over the likes of Barcelona and Chelsea, who had also been linked.
Ribeiro told Transamerica: "If he was my son, I would take him to play at Real Madrid.
"That is the best option to play in Europe, because the president of Real Madrid is already rich and runs the club with passion, and I cannot say the same about Barcelona's president.
"AC Milan was interested, but they said they could not pay €45million.
"Anzhi Makhachkala also wanted to sign Neymar, but that is an ideal club for players who are older than 35. For example, Jucilei, who went to play there, is no longer remembered today and is not an option for the Brazil national team anymore."
He's said all along that he wants to stay in Brazil. Why is that so hard to understand.
For some reason this guy reminds me of Robinho, seems like the same kind of prick. Or maybe it's the celebration.
ESPNsoccernet understands Neymar is set to rank among football's top earners as he has agreed a summer transfer from Santos to Real Madrid in principle.
Neymar, 19, is considered one of the brightest talents in world football having shone for his club Santos and also on the international stage for Brazil.
Indeed, Brazil legend Pele recently expressed his belief that the winger has the potential to rival Barcelona star Lionel Messi as one of football's most talented players.
Neymar was strongly linked with a move away from Santos in the summer, with Real, Barcelona and Chelsea suggested as potential suitors, but a move failed to materialise.
However, the Brazilian said in September he hopes interest in his signature will be renewed after next summer's London 2012 Olympics, and ESPNsoccernet understands a £53 million deal is in place to bring him to the Bernabeu.
A source said: "Neymar will be a Real Madrid player in July, but he is not going there any earlier. He has not signed a contract as yet."
Neymar is expected to join Real on a contract worth £1 million-a-month, while image rights, commercial agreements and the transfer fee could see the deal total around £150 million.
Santos are yet to agree a release date for the sale of Neymar, but it is anticipated his switch to Real will go through next summer, despite interest from elsewhere, including Premier League side Chelsea, who have reportedly been priced out of a deal.
if he is actually going for that transfer free and wage bill then it's an utter joke and Madrid are idiots.
Both the reported transfer fee and wages are complete rubbish. For one, neymar's buyout fee is much less than the quoted fee and secondly, real have a well managed wage bill, their wage to turnover ratio is better than ours and their overall wage bill isnt that much higher either.
if he is actually going for that transfer free and wage bill then it's an utter joke and Madrid are idiots.
I knew you were right about the buyout clause, but I thought Real Madrid were poor about managing their wages. Went to check it out and... well, you're right. Their wage bill is around the 50% of Revenues mark.
I was surprised.
As Neymar said - "I have been sold around 30 times already". Of course that's not the fee.
TBF if Robinho had maximized his talent he'd have been up there with Messi.Pele seems to think he's Brazils answer to Messi.
I just don't see it.
Reminds me more of Robinho then anyone else.
He was always going to stay on.Economy looking good plus the World Cup in his back yard why does he need to go anywhere else for now.
To play in the best leagues in the world which means playing in Europe. You have already proved yourself in Brazil. It is a challenge for you to move to Europe and test yourself against the world's best.
Yeah but he's only 19, whats the big rush?
He is earning enough in Brazil. He is right to wait till he is like 21.Money, perhaps.
