Neymar Da Silva

As reliable as you'll get Red. He keeps me in the loop of all the goings on in Brazilian football everyday.

Here's a pic of his van incase you or others don't believe me.

Definitely not worth more then 15-20 million.

Looks very lightweight and frankly not even that impressive against modest opposition.

..

long gone are the days you look at Brazil and think of their amazing forwards.

He's the kind of person I would happily punch in the face without having met him ever before. Don't know why but the way he looks alone winds me up.

He seems to play the irritating Quaresma football.

Not sure where the 40 mil price tag came from and he seems to like a tumble.
The 40m is just his contract's release clause. Santos don't want to sell so they just throw that number to Chelsea. No way in hell he's worth that right now.

been watching him for Brazil. Not impressed. Spends more time on the deck rolling around or flying through the air than he does on his feet.

A bit over-rated at this point in time imho

Yeah big-time. He's way overrated & his price-tag is rediculous too. He's a good player but the diving antics wont wash in English football thats for sure. He needs a haircut aswell..

The kid just scored a magnificent goal for Santos in the Brazilian League. I'll post a video when one becomes available. Santos are destroying Flamengo, which is a pretty good side (Ronaldinho, Thiago Neves, etc.).

EDIT: When I posted Santos had just gone 3-0 up. Since then Flamengo have scored twice, Neymar won a penalty which Elano missed, and Flamengo equalised. And this is all in the first half!! Brazilian footy at its best (namely, good attacking, poor defending)

I wish I could hear Ray Hudson's live reaction to that:(

If ever there was an accurate use of the word rape...

...Well, that wasn't referring to actual rape.

Wow, Flamengo went on to win it 5-4? With a Ronaldinho hattrick.
But some pretty poor defending there to be honest. and no real marking for those crosses into the box?

It was a very exciting match because of all the goals and the comeback. But the defending was really poor most of the time. Santos had no idea how to just slow it down and control the game once they went 2 up.

The midfields of both teams seemed very committed to attacking, and so defenders often ended up in 3v3 and 3v4 situations. A lot of Brazilians teams only really defend well by fouling, although some are able to do it by positioning and anticipating well.

Its really weird for Flamengo and Santos to be so poor defending given that their coaches are renowned for setting up low-conceding teams.

Cracking goal there, he plays like a 25 year old.

That better not be generally speaking.

He plays like a kid most of the time. An extremely talented kid who makes the wrong decision over and over again.

That is ti be expected though. What with him being a kid and all.

The little drag of the ball before he pushes it past the last defender into the box was pure class, quality goal, and he's sorted his hair out, kind of.

I just like watching him play. He's got so much youthful enthusiasm and the skills to humiliate defences. It's only a matter of time until he goes to Spain so don't get your hopes up.

ESPN Soccernet - On the Move - A mountain out of Cahill

Santos president Luis Alvaro de Oliveira Ribeiro seems to talk about Neymar every day, but his latest quotes are gold.

A Marca journalist said Neymar “must not know who Real Madrid are” if he is prepared to turn down the club, but the president said: “This is a great demonstration of arrogance. They must not know who Santos are. We are in the Club World Cup - they’re not. They talk as though Real Madrid were from another world, another galaxy, and like Brazil is just a satellite."

“The Spaniards seem to think there is still the Treaty of Tordesillas, when South America was just a large colony for the Iberian countries. They don’t realise that our economy today is much stronger than theirs. Spain is in crisis, Brazil is not.”

He added: “The opinions of a journalist do not in any way interfere with the club’s relationship with Real Madrid.”

Spot on.And with the World Cup and Olympics to look forward to the economy will be even stronger.Think the tide is turning regarding really talented players from Brazil automatically being farmed out around europe.

That's bloody beautifully said. Shakespeare couldn't have worded that any better.

We should sign the Santos president.

Haha well said Santos president!

Spain is an economy that I think will remain shit in the long-term and will only decline as SA and Asia rises.

UK and Germany will be fine medium term. Spain will not and Barca and Real will feel that...

According to the Spanish press, Santos are expecting Neymar to sign a new contract worth 7m Euros per year and with the release clause bumped to 55m. Barca are talking to them about a deal for next summer.

Meanwhile Ganso has taken offence at the salary hike for his teammate and is now pushing for a move. The Santos president has apparently said they won't try and stop him.

Brazilian site Estadão is reporting that Barcelona have agreed a €60mil fee with #Santos for Neymar, and that he'll make the move in 2013.

Reliable twitter source, but Estadão is the only media outlet running the story so far

The fee won't be 60mil, it'll be more like half of it. Although, I thought that Madrid have got this guy signed up.

For anyone who watches Brazilian football regularly, is he really the next big deal or just another Denilson(Betis one)
