We have 8 over the age of 30, two of whom are back up goalies and two of whom are out of contract in the summer. That's also not including 29 year old Pogba and Lingard who are both most likely off too. It's the 9th oldest squad in the league. Don't know how he's managed it but Gary Neville has somehow got us confused with fecking Burnley who have the oldest team in the league with 13 players above 30

Gary Neville said Man Utd have an aging squad and at the end of Next Season it will be 13 players 30 or over. The 5th or 6th oldest in the league.

He was actually 1 sort and it is 14.

Of the players who are over 30, Cavani, Mata and Grant will be leaving. The others are Ronaldo, Heaton, De Gea and Matic

Players turning who are or turning 30 Pogba and Lingard both look like leaving, Jones, Maguire, Fred, Telles and Varane.

Awesome post. Agreed that the poster is everything that they are saying about those wanting ETH.

Maybe I get that one vote now for promotion

No seriously, think it's quite clear why most are angling for ETH.

Football can change quickly, and the body of work is showing at this time a manager maybe has potentially went backwards regarding their performance, lot of questions marks about where their mental state might be, as management is a tough game and we have seen what has happened in the past with Jose etc...........and the other manager seems to be building into his peak, with a different mindset on winning, and building teams, and is not potentially damaged goods.

Both are risks, but I think Hag is the man you would rather take that risk with.

Would also mark a massive change with the club with how we are doing things from now on in, instead of the usual samey samey we have seemed to be operating at with "we do things our way" which seems to be out of date.

This time we will be showing everyone we have got a plan for the future and we actually aren't the laughing stock everyone has been making us out to be this season.

City linked journos were already saying he's on their shortlist a few months ago though when it was rumored Pep might want to take a break within the next 2 seasons.

He would be a perfect fit for that team

Plus he’s bald and has a beard, so dream replacement.

ETH has a 73.91% win rate with Ajax.

Played: 207Win: 153Draw: 26Loss: 28GF: 570GA: 174GD: +396

I'd say he has a playing style and his players buy into that style.

Micky mouse league or not to some people, hard to get past that record, especially factoring in the damage they have done in Europe too, with rebuild squads

In the most recent ''Overlap'' discussion on Youtube, Gary Neville revealed United's next manager will inherit the 6th or 7th oldest squad in the Premier League containing 13 players over the age of 30.

2 years ago we had the youngest??

Is he using the number of players over 30 as metric for oldest squad or are we the oldest on average?

Also how many of those 13, if that's the correct figure, are soon to be shipped out?

Not long now. All aboard the Ten Hag train. Chooo choooooo!
Still believe the club is looking for an excuse to get Poch. Which legends haven’t come out in support of him yet? Expect those quotes to leak tomorrow/Friday.

I’m wondering if they are going to hurry it up a little because it seems like anyone we target are asking about the new manager

Is it not concerning that the club are approaching players by themselves without a new manager? who is to stay the manager would want the players the club "may" be approaching?

of course, the flip side could be that they have their choice and the potential new manager and agreed on the players the club are approaching.

i am not too sure the club are that savvy though.

a lot of circling in this response, i know

The whole point of the DOF and supporting roles is that the club should have ideas of players they want irrespective of the manager (who has input into that but is not the person who dictates it)

And you hire managers with playing styles that fit thay profile of player

Surely can’t be that much longer now till we announce, it’s clearly only between 2 managers… ETH and pochettino. How hard can it be to make the right choice. By the time we announce it he’d of retired.

I can’t shake the feeling it’s going to be Pochettino. Yet again hiring a manager 3-4 years too late, really hope we don’t fall into the same trap again.

Yeah appointing Ten Hag still feels to good to be true, wish some of these ex players watched Football outside of the Premier League then maybe might rate Ten Hag instead of Pochettino.

Very few people suggest that Pochettino is a bad manager, the opposite of overvaluing his achievement is a lot more prevalent. For me Pochettino would be a good candidate if we initially see his future tenure as transitional, if we see him as the missing piece and a long term successful manager then I'm skeptical.

As for ten Hag I see him as a bet worth taking, in the same way I thought Sarri, Tuchel or even pochettino 5 years ago were bet worth taking.

Yeah I would have been all for Pochettino getting the job when LVG or Jose got sacked, however don't feel he's been the same since that Champions League Final defeat and Ten Hag has really emerged.

The break has come and gone. Whatever happens with this appointment, Ten Hag or otherwise, the club needs to rebuild from top to bottom.

Who is she?
She used to cover Liverpool for Independent. Also rumoured to be Sadio Mane girlfriend. Have no idea if that is true but she had nothing good to say about United, Everton or even City. Biased as they come towards Liverpool

Im also intrigued by Ten Hag and I enjoy his style of football. Poch just happens to be my first choice and I believe Hag would be a huge risk. I've said this repeatedly.

What I take issue with is the repeated revisionism of Pochs time at Spurs and the blatant lack of knowledge over his and even Ten Hag's managerial styles by those who exhibit a distinct lack of nuance when discussing the merits and otherwise of both coaches.

Poch is disrespected and continually misrepresented here by Hag fans who don't even watch Ajax weekly and who overplay the roles he's performed in the Netherlands. I'm here to dispell and challenge all the nonsense being spouted by the blind. I'm not shooting posters down simply for having a preference for Ten Hag. Many of the Hag followers don't even want the full process of interviews to be carried out, it's Hag or nothing for them
Sensible post. At this point, I’m 51% Poch, 49% Ten Hag. Both have red flags and aren’t top 10 managers in the world IMHO. Poch’ s main red flag is his lack of trophies. ETH’s red flag is lack of experience in the PL, lack of experience dealing with a Pogba or Ronaldo, and the fact that the Eredivise is a pretty weak league and Ajax is a huge club in comparison to others.

I don’t see why there are people on the Caf who get so worked up when someone has a different opinion regarding ETH.

Thanks for the nuance in your post.

Another target missed

So PSV in Title race with Ajax and announce new manager for next season so no excuses for us to intefere with Ajax season by announcing ETH as our new manager next season. Just get the deal done ffs.

Our rivals are desperate for us to appoint Poch, including that scouse sky news reporter apparently. That should tell you something!

Feck me, can't believe Utd have finally made a smart move. Hopefully this is the beginning of something special. I've seen bits amd pieces of ETH being a disciplinarian? True? It's what this team needs.

PSV manager had already announced that their manager was leaving so this an appointment announcement. Ten Hag hasnt mentioned he is leaving and our relationship with Ajax is good so we wouldn’t want to disturb their title bid by announcing their manager is our next manager. May isnt that far anyway

What does this even mean? That United are hiring him only because fans want him?

If anything we go the opposite and hire manager who were successful but obviously past it. This is the first time we are hiring a manager that is elite while overachieving at a club

Read this, thought it was a weird jump.. went on Twitter and saw this:

I despair that a seemingly large portion of our fanbase listen to what this guy says. He’s spent most of the day making light of the Maguire booing too, which is unsurprising seeing as he’s one of the big reasons behind his constant online abuse.

Anyway, back on topic. What are you talking about? Why is there a need to announce anything now? To ease a fraction of the fanbases impatience?

I remember them taking the game to us. I remember Southampton taking the game to the likes of City etc. PSG took the game to Real Madrid and didn't sit back and play pragmatic (they arguably should have to see out the tie).
I think if he played like that with the likes of Messi Mbabbe and Neymar he'd be sacked on the spot. I watched that tie and thought PSG did well but they still got knocked out. He had a big chance there to prove himself but bottled it. I think if he comes here it will just be constant top 4 races and nothing more.
