Gary Neville is cleverly putting pressure on the United Board to hire Ten Haag. By saying he prefers Poch, but “the fans” unanimously want ETH...he is warning the board of what comes next if ETH isn’t appointed.

Either that or he is a knob.

Yep, remains a joke that Fletcher has a job beyond some youth coaching. Zero qualifications for the role and even less qualified to be involved in hiring new manager. Apparently having Utd DNA and being a nice bloke get you a cushy nunber at OT. And we wonder why the club is in the state it is?

Compare his CV to Ralf's and then answer simple question which is best placed to assist in this process. Hint, its not Darren
Fletcher is fergie's eyes and ears at utd. He's there because of fergie.

It’s quite staggering how it’s taken us just shy of a decade to appoint a manager with modern tactical ideas. Moyes/LVG/Jose belong to a previous era and Ole was never a good enough manager to begin with. As an example nearly every top modern team is compact and presses off the ball. We have not had a single manager in a decade who has coached a press, we are so behind the times it’s crazy. The new shortlist is encouraging because it seems we’re finally bucking the trend.

Gary wanting Poch is enough reason for me to get Ten Hag. The less involvement and influence from ex players going forward the better. The club needs a clean break

Anyone who wants Poch or doesn't have Hag as their top choice is a knob innit

What about Luis Enrique? Lopetegui? Both play attacking and technical football the fans want to see. Enrique won the treble with Barcelona and is making Spain look like a great team again at NT level

I was talking about the options on the poll, but interesting shouts. With Enrique, he did an excellent job adapting the loss of the core of Pep's team and building a squad and a style of play at Barca which got the most out of Messi, Suarez and Neymar. I guess the question mark is what would he do at United where we don't have anyone approaching that level to build around. Also, I doubt he'd leave for Spain job for this.

On Lopetegui, I'm not convinced. From the sounds of it he's doing well with Sevilla, but I think he's found his level there. Getting a smaller club to punch above their weight is a different prospect to succeeding at a massive club who expect to win major trophies.

Rio has no place in that coaching setup. He has no qualifications or experience, and comes across as bit thick and impulsive. It needs to be ETH, his choice of assistant, and maybe someone like Stam, RVP or RVN - i.e. a young (preferably Dutch?) promising coach with actual coaching experience.

I think his time as "highly promising" has long gone judging by his spells at Reading and his sacking at bloody FC Cincinnati

The walls in here seem to be very sticky for some reason.

Has anything been confirmed apart from him having an interview along with several other candidates?

And he could be right, whether you like him or not Poch's more likely to settle in at United quicker than ETH, he's also managed PSG and at the top end in the PL. He's probably a safer appointment but I'm not sure he could build a team for the longer term.

Fergie declined a role at United after his retirement. If he wanted eyes and ears, he could have used his own.

No need to come up with flat earth style conspiracy theory to explain Fletcher.

Or it is a sign of how irrelevant City is?
I think it’s a sign of us being a club that’s more interested to see if the social media reaction is positive and gauge if the players approve via their usual leaks to the press.

A meeting taking place I can get a journalist putting that together, but the whole “it was positive” and the thing about the language being good etc stinks of a board member or someone on their behalf speaking off the record. Definitely for the reasons i mentioned but also to shut fans up after we got KO’d from the CL and with the Glazers being in Dubai talking cricket.

Maggie the tea lady is his eyes and ears.

Fergie doesn't want to get involved in the day to day running, if he did then he wouldn't have retired in the first place.

Fletcher is loyal to the powers that be at utd and keeps fergie in the loop regarding the inner workings at utd.

How do you know all of this detail? Are you talking to Fergie personally? Or have you just pulled a baseless conspiracy theory out of your arse?

He's becoming a right unbearable cnut.
Yeah and as soon as Poch will inevitably fail, Neville will be saying we should have gone for Ten Hag. He is just like the Man Utd hierarchy, he is totally stuck in the past
He’s United’s Piers Morgan. A burden on the club.
Seriously, what on earth are people getting so worked up about with regards to Neville? Do people just enjoy pissed off on the internet over absolutely nothing, or something?

I've seen this being said before as well, as if Fletcher is some sort of puppet of Fergie's. It's unhinged. Some of the posts on this page have been ridiculously pathetic.

We should have a conspiracy thread for this sort of nonsense.

Really, what role was that? That the same Fergie that personally chose his successor, Moyes, and seems to have been v proactive in getting Ronaldo to join the club. Two great moves....

Why else is fletcher there ? That's the only theory that fits.

Which is why he won't be the next manager. They never appoint the right guy when they have the chance.
If Woodward were still our CEO I agree, he had an almost impressive talent in getting every big decision wrong. He'd be pushing hard for Poch, preparing a £120million bid for Harry Kane and offering Dybala £400k a week, and we'd be back in the same situation within 2-3 years.

I think Arnold, Murtough and Fletcher are making the right noises so far. They started well by bringing Rangnick into the club, and it looks like they're going for the progressive option for ETH.

Haha so if someone doesnt agree with you and has his own opinion on something he is unbearable?

So you are 100% sure your opinion is a fact?

He's not a cnut for his managerial preference, he's a cnut because he's become a proper blowhard on television whenever discussing United for years now

Sorry but until the club give us something to be positive about I will continue to be a miserable git..

Fletcher is clearly in his position due to being Fergie’s Scottish love child  not saying he doesn’t deserve to be there but it’s obviously because of Fergie!

He's a great manager with a winning history at the highest levels, what in your mind actually disqualifies him? Is Ten Hag or someone else more uniquely suited to manage this united in it's current situation?

I'm not a Ten Hag fan boy by any stretch. The best managers in the world are taken. Jose is no longer an option, Pep and Klopp aren't ever going to happen.

Nagelsmann has only recently joined Bayern, Ancelotti isn't going to leave Madrid again or for United. Simeone could never be our manager either...

The third level of managers includes Poch, Ten Hag, Enrique. You could easily argue Enrique failed at Roma. Didn't get European football with them and then left/sacked.

Out of all the current candidates I'm not sold on any. However I would opt for Ten Hag working under Rangnick whose opinions I've liked since he came in. I wanted Rangnick when Ole left and glad we signed him. I just don't want the board to undo the good decision in hiring him to move upstairs after this season.

I'd like to see Rangnick work with Ten Hag and complete an overhaul over the next 2 transfer windows on players that are going to make us better now and in the future.

It should be pointed out Sevilla are second in La Liga under Lopetegui and have only lost twice all season. They've managed this despite being afflicted with injuries to attackers routinely this season to the point where fans have been bashing their medical department. That's why they were desperate for Martial
My bad, don’t pay attention to there league table just there performances, there last game they had 0 shots on target and the game against Vallecano they had 3 shots all game and 0 in the first halve. If there second that shows how bad the rest of the league have been. My point was there a boring team to watch which they are, mourinhos sides are boring but he still got us 2nd place. We want a manager that’s a winner but wins in style, not one that will grind out results.
