Weird for either party to brief about this. The interviewee obviously wouldn’t want it known he was interviewed until he knew he’d got the job.

Which probably makes this yet another leak.

Letting everyone know you have interviewed a manager and then not picking him sounds weird. I think the line about following the process through is just to stall the press while they get a deal done, as Ajax stil have a lot to play for, same with us tbh.
Once Ajax win the title, this will be announced
Neville seems to be insinuating something similar, and I agree. I think the club have decided on the next appointment.

I still doubt PSG would let us talk to Pochettino until they have made the decision to sack him. Enrique is not quitting Spain and Lopetegui is just article padding, we aren't emoloying him. This thing is done.

I'm don't see why Enrique wouldn't be open to the idea of joining us, he's one from the Barca school, if given the right environment, we can finally play some modern football that involves possession and pressing. ETH could have a higher ceiling, but for me he's still a gamble. We could wait for the worldcup or hire ETH at the end of the season, neither would be wrong decisions, but I'm leaning towards Enrique personally.

By waiting for Enrique we could be ruining the first halve of our season. If we have a chance to bring in ETH now then we’ve got to take it, he’ll have a full pre season with the squad which is what is needed to get your ideas across.

Enrique is not quitting Spain 6 months to the world cup. Would be madness to leave ourselves in limbo for that long. We would ruin a other season. Business is not run that way.

I honestly couldn't watch another season of us treading water, I'm sick to death of it. It's not as if Enrique is guaranteed success either. No thanks, new manager ASAP, the Bald one is coming.

I know how you feel, we're all in the same boat, but it's not like ETH is guaranteed immediate success. I like Enrique, think that style of football is not going anywhere anytime soon. Also, given the rot at the club, any manager is going to take time, I'd rather give Enrique that time.

Like I said, ETH would absolutely be the logical choice, but I'd be willing to give up half a season for someone like Enrique who's brand of football is the way to go if we want to be a successful club in the long run.

You're right, I was thinking more along the lines of getting a pre contract or a verbal agreement, RR can stay till the worldcup but Enrique could be calling the shots from behind the scenes for half a season, maybe hire a few of his preferred assistant/fitness coaches, have him suggest player sale and recruitment.

I’d be shocked if Enrique isn’t already penciled in for the City job.
And 3 seasons later we'll be thinking how we couldn't be proactive and at least approach him to consider joining after the WorldCup.

I personally rate Enrique very highly but I think the only managers that are worth for us waiting and giving up on next season are Pep and Klopp. ETH is a very interesting prospect. Man clearly has his vision, something we have lacked for years ever since LVG left.

The focus really should be on the players.

The next permanent playing squad thread!

All of our previous managers since Fergie could've been better if the managers hadn't been let down by certain players.

Yes Moyes made errors, LVG made errors but players also killed them. I don't feel Jose made errors until the board didn't back him before his 3rd season but the players also killed him.

The entitled players need a slap not a sympathiser in Poch. He's too nice.

Enrique is actually from the Dutch school of Michels and then Cruyff which was a idea (positional play) that was developed at Barca by the Dutch. Erik ten Hag and Enrique are both followers of the positional play principles and both have the potential to implement a modern possession game combined with heavy metal football.

My preferred choice would've been Enrique due to his experience but I wouldn't wait for him for half a season when ten Hag is potentially available.

Ten Hag appears to be the hipsters choice. He is a massive gamble with no experience of our league or managing a team with a global status like ours. I just hope the fans give him the time he'll obviously need to change our club around...i fear most may not!

There's nothing to fear, it's a certainty they won't

Same with me, Enrique is just more proven, 2 La Ligas and an CL. I'd be okay with waiting 6 extra months for him.

Unfortunately, this isn't the reality in which we're getting either of them. Enrique has trophies to show for, the vision he has has proven to be a blueprint for teams to be successful, if we're looking at low risk planning, I'd be okay with waiting for Enrique for 6 months.

based on not much I don't expect Enrique would want to be here for too long even if he did come

he only lasted three seasons in Barca after huge success, and that was his former club

but we need 3 years of building

so waiting 6 months for him doesn't feel right

Always fun to look at the betting odds.

Cantona 275/1. Usain Bolt 500/1. Mourinho back at a generous 66/1. Ronaldo himself 50/1. Edward Woodward 200/1 :nervous:

Woodward must have stuck a cheeky £10 on himself just to torment us United fans once more. Well, until he pops up in the press to say how ten Hag was his long term idea as United manager.

Because he's with Spain and the worldcup is in December, so even if there's a chance to getting him, he'll not join after the worldcup.
So its more than 6 months, all the more reason not going for him. And maybe he'd refuse us even then.
