I'm not really sure mate, but ten Hag has worked in Germany and was born close to the German/Dutch border. So he could quite easily have been German if his Mother had given birth to him over the parameters..If he's German i doubt he's getting any info from Ajax/Ten Hag's side but if he work's for the BBC he could have someone at United then.
Does seem like there is too much smoke now for there to be no fire. For once we will get the hipster choice. He will hopefully succeed, but I can’t wait till he comes in and doesn’t replace DDG and the fans go nuts haha
I do want ETH. And I agree generally with what you’re saying, but defenders still primarily need to defend and support the attack, not the other way around. Pep likes his defenders to be good on the ball, but they win because Dias is an exceptional defender, not because he can play it out of the back. Pool- crap until they got VVD who is a mountain at the back.
My point is, if people think ETH is going to come in and get defenders who’re better footballers than actual defenders, he’ll be sacked before the season ends. It doesn’t work like that, especially at top level football. And I’m sure he’s smart enough to know that.
you just couldn’tBig day today.
When did Ornstein say his sources were indicating ETH? I must've missed thatNot sure any of the new journos know shit but ornstein said his sources were indicating ETH and that’s good enough for me. Still convinced he’ll be announced by the leicester game.
It was in the article about the board preferring ETH but players preferring Pochetino. When did Ornstein say his sources were indicating ETH? I must've missed that
Don’t know if your aware but the days nearly over Big day tomorrow!!!Big day today.
Cheers. It was in the article about the board preferring ETH but players preferring Pochetino.
Edit - Actually I think it may have been his sky interview. This is the synopsis of what he said:
Notes:
Thomas Tuchel would appeal to Man Utd, like many other clubs, if he was available but he's not available and he wants to stay at Chelsea as long as the new owner wants him to stay. If it doesn't work out then things could change but they won't change quick enough for Man Utd who are trying to wrap up their managerial process as soon as possible.
They want to do it [wrap up their managerial process] in the coming weeks, ideally by the end of March, and that's why they were speeding up the process, meeting candidates and whittling down their shortlist, and hoping to have a chosen candidate in place as soon as possible - so the chosen candidate can be a key part of the decision making process around squad building for next season and beyond, and the transfer window in terms of incomings and outgoings.
ETH and Poch are the key candidates (and a couple of others too eg Enrique and Lopetegui were also admired). Poch/ETH has come to the fore and would be surprised if it wouldn't be one of Pochettino and Ten Hag. Depending on who you speak to, many people have suggested Ten Hag is the right one, who has a low release clause and is known to have admirers among the United hierarchy. Pochettino has been linked for years, is admired by Sir Alex Ferguson, is reported to be leaving PSG at the end of the season after the UCL failure and is also reportedly the favored candidate of the United dressing room and has PL experience
That depends on if someone like Eckner is currently actively involved in writing for a EPL centric audience. I don't think he is.I’m always skeptical about tweets like this because it’s a reply to someone asking him about it. If he genuinely had news I highly doubt he’d sit around on his arse and wait for a bloke called mufcmpb to ask him about it on Twitter before he decided to make the info public.
You absolute gemBig day today.
You could argue that a lot of fans wanted mourinho because he ‘wins things’ no one cared about style of play back then. But I agree this is a good sign that the board are actually listening to us fans. They wouldn’t dare go against us though because they know the backlash of that. This might be the first time since Ferguson left that the board has gone with the fan choice. That's a good sign I think?
Again, I agree- but your original post said defenders that play more like playmakers and neither Dias nor VVD serve that function.Dias and VVD are great on the ball but also great defenders. What kind of managers don’t like that? Even Mourinho like complete defenders. But end of the day if the defenders and keeper are only good in defending but crap on their feet then those managers wouldn’t fancy them over someone who is good on the ball because it’s important for Pep and ETH system.
If Pep used Fernandinho as CB then without a doubt he would use Blind as CB over CB who can’t play from the back. Pep used Yaya Toure in final champions league as CB against us That’s just Pep & ETH philosophy.
Those were dark days. We were desperate. We were afraid to lose our grip on being a big top club. We did things we weren't proud of. Mourinho being one of them. You could argue that a lot of fans wanted mourinho because he ‘wins things’ no one cared about style of play back then. But I agree this is a good sign that the board are actually listening to us fans. They wouldn’t dare go against us though because they know the backlash of that.
VVD is possibly the best ball playing centre back in world football.Again, I agree- but your original post said defenders that play more like playmakers and neither Dias nor VVD serve that function.
But regardless, excited to see what changes ETH makes !
btw- on tha yaya point; Pep could have played me at CB in that barca team and they still would’ve won, that team never let the opposition get the ball haha.
Where did I say he wasn’t? He is also the most physically imposing CB in the world, which was my point.VVD is possibly the best ball playing centre back in world football.
Get in
I think they'd entertain it on the caveat of us being willing to offer them a sizeable payout, which thankfully for once would likely deter our board.I doubt PSG would allow us speak to Poch.
Stop the count!
Just announce him, I hope we're not wasting time interviewing the likes of Lopetegui for the sake of 'due diligence'.
Yeah, no idea why his name keeps popping up. I'm guessing its his reps leaking nonsense to the press to keep him relevant. He really shouldn't be in the running, he plays a worse style of football than Simeone.
There's no doubt in my mind if Ten Hag comes in under this current setup he would also fail. Only Sir Alex could do wonders under the Glazers, it really takes someone that extraordinary to win things under these lot. From what I've read there's been literally no changes in the positions within the structure above, it's still all just glazer puppets and Fletcher as a technical director. We can only see a real big difference once those roles become occupied by people qualified for the roles.
Richard Arnold and Murthough are just Woodward with different names.
