I'm not totally convinced Ten Hag is the right man and the board's multiple clusterf@ck in the past does nothing to change that feeling. But the best guys are already in jobs and he is beer than some names being mentioned. Part of me thinks Enrique or Lopetegui would be better long-term prospects, as would Simeone even if his style of play is not what we want to see. Someone tough enought to stand up any crap from above.

I really want to see someone who has won things, the very opposite of Ole, but if it's TH I'm willing to believe he will win something... not sure anyone available right now can break the stronghold City and Liverpool (and Chelsea i things don't change massively there) have on the title race...

Enrique is the best manager right now that would be "available". I put available in quotes because of the world cup. If Enrique says he'd be interested in the job, but after the world cup then the club would need to make a decision on whether its better to wait 6 months for Enrique or Ten Hag in the summer.

Obviously Enrique would have to have a say in any transfer dealings and June to December should be about Rangnick setting the squad up for Enrique. Maybe not an ideal scenario but Enrique is a proven world class manager.

I personally think Enrique will stay with Spain then take over from Guardiola when he leaves City

All this talk of Enrique being the best man for the job. Would you not class him as a bit of a dinosaur? Maybe not dinosaur but not fresh. He’s not managed club football in like 5 years. I’d be hesitant before even talking about waiting 6 months for him.

I think ETH is done and they’re just downplaying it for whatever reason. Way too much smoke for there to not be a fire at this point.

I think its practically nailed on that this will happen. When Pep leaves City they will get the best coach in the Spanish/tiki-taka style not called Pep to replace him.

As for us, whoever it is, I just hoped they're backed. Not just with transfers but with dealing with the dressing room. Our squad has become used to being given an inch and taking a mile. If a new manager comes in and starts trying to change all that there will be resistance. There will be briefings to the media, leaks, sources close to play X moaning in the Daily Mail. The club has to immediately put a stop to all that and not let the manager's authority be undercut. If we let things carry on as they have the manager will just get weaker and weaker and the dressing room will stop responding to him.

Not a great source but from what they're reporting, the club want a ex player to come in to Unite the dressing room. Rio and Van Persie have allegedly shown a interest in taking up the role.

Sounds a bit far fetched.

Source is definitely questionable but it wouldn't surprise me. Every manager we hired post SAF was forced to shoehorn at least 1 of our ex player to a coaching role.

You would hope there could be 2 assistant managers

It will be Fletcher you watch. That's why they after deputy DOF as well.

Fletcher or Mata

I read somewhere they want to interview all 4 of the final pick so TH might have just been the first interviewed

Hag for me is the right choice, think he will take us in the direction we need to be going, but what is the fascination of having a ex player as assistant, its not worked so far.
Clean sweep for me , new manager and assistant and that should be the new managers personal choice, somebody he has worked with and knows how he works, otherwise we have this period when they need to get used to how each other work.

I don’t mind Fletcher get him away from this Sporting director role he clearly doesn’t know how to do.

Before the moaning. Rizigier is currently his assistant. That was clearly an Ajax decision.

So excited for Ten Hag, he'll be a breath of fresh air who will bring a modern day technical approach to our game and philosophy to our team that he will not waiver from. The board need to support both him and Ralf to be given free reign to rebuild the club in their own images so that we have structural changes that are more geared towards football success than commercial brand success on and off the field and let him clear out the overpaid spoilt brats in the squad who are clearly more interested in their brands to the point where they are so distracted from off the field curriculum that they are no longer teachable or intelligent enough to learn a new system when it comes to football.

If we are getting Ten Hag I do hope it’s announced soon. Gets rid of some of the negativity around the club, shows we actually seem to have an idea about what we want to do next season. The last thing we need is a Tottenham scenario where we’re dragging our heels looking for a manager.

feck me are you really going to appoint Ten Hag? That's absolutely massive.
In that case, no more patronizing sympathy, the gloves are fecking off.

From these club briefs (presumably from Arnold) it sounds like the process has begun. They must have interviews lined up with Pochettino, Enrique and Lopetegui in the next couple of weeks, before a final decision is made (presumably sometime before Easter).

It sounds like the compensation required for Pochettino might be a bit prohibitive, but I'm sure something could be worked out with PSG, given that they will sack him at the end of the season anyway (and will therefore have compensation to pay themselves, unless we take him off their hands).

Interesting that they are briefing "no frontrunner", which indicates that they intend to follow a proper interview process (possibly the first time United have ever done this for a managerial vacancy?)

Strange to take a job away from Fletcher which he doesn’t actually have.

He’s technical director and he’s the link between first team and youth team set up and he’s also a part of the process to help identify if the new players coming in have the mentality to play for Man Utd, if they’re the right fit.

Murtough is the Sporting Director and he’s doing rather well if you ask me.

Just let him moan, its what he does.

I'd be up for a Dutch, former United player. Van Nistelrooy would be a good choice, but I think he will be the PSV manager next season. Perhaps Van Persie or Stam then.

If Ten Hag is chosen, he should get to pick his own assistant, but I wouldn't be against bringing Van Persie in as an additional striker coach. At least he has some qualifications in the role.
