If we do appoint ETH, what kind of breathing room are you willing to give him? I mean he's going to have to clear the decks a bit. Too many players are not suitable for his style, even though they are of good quality. Need to blood in some youngsters who will do anything he wants. I'll give him at least 2 years before I expect to see us challenging.

Its either him or Poch and I'd be happy with both, however the style of play Ten Hag wants would require radical reform of the squad, and that includes the likes of De Gea and Bruno.

Ten Hag plays a beautiful style of football and one I would love to see us play, but it would require years to mould United into the team he would need, so people would have to be patient and willing to go through some painful results. He's worth the risk imo.

I think I'd be giving anyone a minimum of 2 years, the squad's going to end up gutted due to players who want out and those with expiring contracts. Whether it's Pochettino, Ten Hag or, hell, even Ancelotti we won't be challenging anytime soon.

Shrager is usually a Buzz Killington when it comes to good Utd rumours and general muppetry, so if he thinks or has been told (as he usually likes to state) that this has happened then there‘s a good chance there‘s substance in it.

I don’t see any manager delivering meaningful success in less than 2 years especially as we look set to lose a few big names in the summer. I’d just like to see some consistency and a game plan to build on. I can take not being the best in the league but I’d prefer us not to be so erratic in our performances.

Some sort of briefing going on here.
On both sides nontheless. I had this hunch that by mid march we will pretty much know who our manager is going to be. Looks like the stars are begining to align.

Top 4 in his first season. Title challenge in 2-3 years after appointment. If we don't finish Top 4 this season, then a EL win need to be added.

Are we going to do it? Are we really going to appoint an exciting prospect as a manager for once? Are we really going to make the right choice? I want to believe but we have been hurt so many times before.

I am ready to unzip.

at this point I'm gonna be a bit gutted if we don't get ETH

will be like wanting Klopp to replace Fergie but ending up with Moyes again

although in fairness Poch will be a much better consolation

You always wonder would Klopp have turned his nose up at Utd so quick IF that Toy Story puppet hadn't sold us as a Mickey Mouse organisation.

I dislike this "intermediaries" route, just grab the fecking phone and call the man.
Let Rangnick be the one to talk, not Arnold or any executive who is only obsessed with marketing. Then things may progress.

I want to believe.

And I hope we won't end up with Ancelotti, with all due respect.

Daily Mail reporter so treat with all due lack of respect.
Great news! Hope to god it's true. I can only see us goin up with his appointment, Premier League champions within 3 years

everyones conditioned to us making shit decisions now, and therefore expect Pochettino

but with Woody gone and the appointment of a DoF and Rangnick, there are signs that we might actually be on the right track for once

I don't think they'd do that without explicit permission when he is contracted to Ajax, especially as we have a good relationship with Van Der Sar and the club.

We need a manager who can put up a team like this and STILL beat Wolfsburg 3-1 in the ChL. My God, SAF was brilliant. But it's worth noting, that all of these players worked their asses off - maybe not Nani so much as the rest.

------------- Kuszczak ----------------
Park - Fletcher - Carrick - Evra
----- Gibson ----- Scholes ------
Nani ---- Anderson ---- Welbeck
Owen

I think it all depends on the amount of backing he receives and whether the signings are the right fit. We have some good players, admittedly low on confidence and in poor form, such that I think three or four smart additions will have us competing.

We will struggle in the first half of his first season as players get used to his methods which will affect how high we can finish in the league but if all goes well by this time next year we should be seeing the signs of a very good team emerging.

Agree. Let the football people do the talking. We have learnt our lessons letting Ed speak to Klopp about football manager job.

we cant beat watford with a full team these days

Hopefully this ETH Rumour is true.

It will probably take 2-3 seasons to gut the squad and bring in the players he wants.

Due to mismanagement of the squad and how many glaring holes it may take even longer, depending on how much money the Parasites actually let him have.

With Ralphs expertise and ETH i think we might actually improve.

The instant success is not going to happen.

In 2 years Pep & Klopp are gone leaving the door open then if the foundations are put in now.

I think that even if we managed to get ETH. His first year here may be similar with the season we are having now. Playing good football but results wise may not be promising and fighting for Top 4. Our squad is still very far away from playing high intensity modern progressive football. It's much easier to do it in Dutch League and PL is a different ball game altogether. It took even Pep more than 1 year and Klopp 3 years to build their team.

The question is how long should we should give ETH, 1year? 3 year? Will he has the same success like Pep and Klopp?

I feel like it will start off ok but then the stupid winter WC will happen and players will come back tired, injured, and defeated.

If Ten Hag doesn't win the quadruple in the 2 months then I want him gone and someone in who can win it all in 6 weeks.

Even if I put aside Potchettino's shortcomings, among which are:
  • His horrendous away record against other top teams in the Premier League.
  • His notion that "trophies only serve to build your ego"
  • His inability to win a league that PSG has utterly dominated, winning 7 of the last 8 league titles. Even with all their riches, he couldn't overcome Lille.
  • Not since 2013 has a PSG manager had a lower win percentage. And he's well down. Blanc (72.83%). Emery (76.32%).Tuchel (74.80%). Potchettino is 67.61%. This is with arguably the most expensively assembled team in history and a front three of Neymar, Messi and Mbappe.
Even if I could put all that to one side, the very fact that our underachieving collection of bottle job players seem to want him as our next manager, is a massive red flag and would only make me want to sway away from him.

They've probably identified a manager they feel will maintain the status quo at this club, and the very comfortable levels they have gotten accustomed to. God forbid we should bring in a manager who challenges and demands more from players.

Bring in ETH, and allow him full autonomy over who deserves to be at the club, without any interference from those higher up trying to veto exits like they've previously done with Pogba, Martial and Shaw.
