Next Man Utd Manager Expected To Be Jose Mourinho Or David Moyes

You wouldn't think that to read some of the posts in the various Mourinho threads, he's talked about like he's the second coming.

If Sir Alex is the first coming, Mourinho is the closest to the second coming.

what? - where?

It's people that just want to brush off his success and clear class as a manager that has most people defending. No need to get all defensive, but atleast accept he's a phenomenal manager whether he comes to United or not.

I've never denied that Mourinho is one of the best managers in the game at the moment, I've always maintained that I don't see him as a good fit for utd but I've never denied his tactical nous.

He's talked about like he is - An outstanding, unique manager that will probably go down as one of the greatest ever.

From the other Mourinho related thread (we ought to merge them):

We want the best for the club (obviously) and upon discussions about who will (or is the best man) to take over the club when SAF goes, naturally everyone wants the best. So it's not so much a pro-Mourinho but a pro-United bias.

If Jose went to Man City for example (God forbid) in 2 years time, I doubt we'd have lenghty discussions about him as a manager and his track record blah blah, cos all we care about is United!

Seriously....why is everyone turning on Jose? So what if wanted to defend for 70 minutes and blitz the last 20? We defended for 80 in Camp Nou in 2008. We scored early at OT and more or less milked the counter-attacking game. He decided not to open up to allow Barca space to play their football and they resorted to cheating and getting his players sent off. I'm not saying he's 100% in the right but come on man, the guy has had a player sent off his last 5 matches against Barcelona. Mostly for play acting and over the top embellishments rather than serious fouls. Surely the pressure must get to you after a time. SAF would have popped a blood vessel at this perceived injustice.

The more Jose speaks about it, the more UEFA will have to pay attention to it. Barcelona has been getting away with it for too long. They are a great side but they have a darker, dishonest side to their game.

If he went to City they'd get far better results than they currently do. It would be a feckin nightmare for the league. City would walk the league eventually.

This is the part I'm particular hopeful for. I hope he continues speaking, because it's most likely that we'll be meeting Barca in the finals of the Champions League. There might be a small possibility that it will have an effect on the minds of referees that maybe they have been giving Barca too much of the benefit of the doubt, and that they need to cut it out (maybe in the finals?).

I thought he was getting an hard time for the post match comments? I don't have a problem with the tactics when facing Barcelona personally. You can't open up against them in reality.

Although I have some reservations about Mourinho becoming United's next manager, he is still emininently qualified in terms of proven success at the top level. On the other hand David Moyes primary qualifications appear to be that he is Scottish, that Fergie likes him and that he has done a decent job with limited resources at a second rate club without winning anything. Based on that, he seems emininently unqualified for the position.

no problem with tactics just losing the plot after the game that surprised me.

I'd prefer Hughes over Moyes but Hughes had a chance with the bitters and had a string of 8 successive draws. You can't win championships with that kind of form.

feck me.

Mark Hughes? The thinking mans Big Sam Allardyce.

The way you adore him is just getting so ridiculous and unbelievable.

jose meltdown is almost as big as rafa's fachts and keegan's 'love it'.

I've been supportive of wanting jose at united, but it is the meltdown (not the loss) that has made me reconsider.

His madness is also quite calculated! Has anyone noticed how and why he did not conduct an interview in English last night? He did not really want the English media to talk about his madness because he knows it won't go down well in England.

He has no passion for Football but just the love of himself! He's never a United manager quality from the start!

Err... this season is gone for Madrid, he's just using the opportunity to ram up some pressure on Barca's "my face hurts" strategy before next season.

Make no mistake Mourinho knew exactly what he was saying like said it was calculated. Slightly more over the top but we have had a few outbursts from our own manager over the years. Does the job of putting the attention onto him and is good for his team. Maybe not for him but for his team.

I've said it before and I'll say it again. Mourinho is going to be at City next season. He will be a nightmare.

Of course the fact I support United effects my judgement. Why would it not? Why would I want it not to. I know Fergie's a great man. A legend. I couldn't care what other fans think. You'd be hard pressed to find a manager who wouldn't stand by Fergie.

I generally find that a better opinion is to keep an open mind and try to be unbiased.

Then you can appreciate SAF by ignoring all the media rubbish.

Then you can appreciate Jose by ignoring all the haters.

What about Villa Boas? I want a manager who has an eye for young talent. Its the DNA of our club.

With his stupid antics, he lost a lot of credit. Do you really want a manager who acts like a complete twat after each loss? Plus, his tactics have been very disappointing, in his own stadium, no attacking intent at all, with so much talent on the bench, totally giving in and let Barca play, that is just not what I want to see

The more I see and read about him, the more I like him

Word, Villas-Boas looks an exciting prospect (so far!)...
But the Mourinho wank-a-thon needs to be put into perspective.
He looks like not winning a league for the first time in ages, he left Chelsea because he was well behind United in September therefore not looking like a title for a second year in the 'illustrious' history of Chelsea, he is also looking less like a deity at Real unable to win the league or CL despite the players and funds at his disposal.
He's never stayed anywhere more than a few seasons, why have him at United?
Villas-Boas if proven it a three/four season period may show a dynasty type manager required to take over from Fergie, it depends how he fares in the CL rather than just in Portugal.

Jose is too clever. He did all that to take away attention from the fact his team was actually outplayed and their tactics back fired. He has also successfully made it hell for the next ref taking up the return leg. Expect Barca to get some questionable decisions against them at home.

I think you overestimate him now. I dont think he did it just to take away the attention from his team's performance, cause everyone know they were fecking shit and it was obvious to see, and it was widely reported in all the newspapers all over the world. And I doubt a quality ref would really be influenced by the words of Jose, they are no idiots as much as they sometime seem to be

I don't see why every one seems to love Villa-Boas.

I doubt anyone is in love with him - however, he is doing a very good job and the way he manages Porto seems like it would fit into the United approach. Of course, still early, but wouldnt we all love someone to take over from Sir Alex who has a similar spirit? (Youth, spotting talents, building up, attacking football, etc)

It is his modus operandi. It has nada to do with over rating. He did the same thing at Chelsea when he went to the Nou Camp and was out played. He blamed it all on the ref, cost Anders Fisk his career and unleashed all sorts of conspiracy theories. As a result Barca had it rough at the Bridge with the next referee. Classic Jose.

And I doubt a quality ref would really be influenced by the words of Jose, they are no idiots as much as they sometime seem to be
It has zero to do with being idiots. In fact he is expecting them to be clever. Any ref worth his salt given the return leg is going to look at Barca more closely after this uproar to see what the fuss is about. If such a ref examines this past game, they will be sure to enter the next game with a slight bias against Barca for their play acting and surrounding the ref antics. I assure you refs hate being criticized but they hate being taken for a ride more. That is why for example certain players have suffered badly for getting the rep of being divers. How much more an entire team for doing the same?

Even in defeat the guy is too wily. He has come off as a greasy cnut but he is likely to get what he wants from all of it. A very anti Barca refereeing performance at the Nou Camp.

A few day's ago he was a genius and the (second) best Manager in the world. Today he's ordinary and disappointing. What's next?

The reason Madrid lost was because of one debatable red card and moments of brilliance from Messi. Those things are out of a managers control.

Imagine Pep coaching Madrid. Would that change the result?

Barcelona is a better team and with Messi and Xavi they have two players who play's on a level above the rest. No team can copy that in a series of 4 matches.
