Next Man Utd Manager Expected To Be Jose Mourinho Or David Moyes

Like playing a 36 year old Giggs in the middle of a HUGE media storm in a midfield 2 against Barca?

Come on, I don't want Moyes but to suggest Fergie's selections in big games are infallible is ridiculous.

Did I say that his selections were perfect? No, I didn't. I can happily accept that Fergie has made mistakes on several occasions with his team selection, with that final being a prime example, however he's also made the right selections on plenty of occasions as well.

Any manager can make that mistake, Fergie gets it wrong but wins sometimes, it's the luck of having the best players under you to save your ass at times.

I don't want Moyes, but I think you're being unfair here.

And also, I know football has moved on a lot since Ferguson came, and so have we, obviously. But those saying that Moyes isn't a big enough name, or hasn't achieved enough - I think as a modern day achievement, keeping Everton in the top 7 or 8 in the country for 10 years, with the money he's had ... while not being quite up there with what Fergie had done when he arrived from Aberdeen ... should not be scoffed at. It's a truly remarkable achievement.

I'd like to see Moyes go somewhere else first for a couple of years though. Someone inbetween us and Everton. Someone like Spurs for example ... which I genuinely think might happen. Then if he does well there for 2/3 years - why not.

Pep would be my first choice though, but I would be entirely happy with Moyes at 2nd.

So you've bumped this just to say that you were right 3/4 years ago? Riiiiiiight.

Well not really. This thread contains a large chunk of the discussions contrasting Moyes and Mourinho, and many arguments were made as to why Moyes may not be the right choice.

I would have loved Ole, wanted him ages ago. At least he'd get our players shooting with his "SHOOT" methods of training.

How many old threads are going to be bumped? We know what the majority of the Caf felt about hiring Moyes (I was against it just to be clear) including the sternest critics.

What's the point in gloating anyway. Everyone is hurt with the club losing games. Not sure "being right" in this case is something to be proud of or gloat.

We need to read up on old threads and brush up on our history...

Gloating isn't nice. Premature gloating isn't smart. And pining for Maureen is just about as pointless as it gets if you ask me.

Obviously no one is pinning for Mourinho any more now we passed up the chance to get him and appointed Moyes instead. :(

I'd say some show clear signs of pining. The object of affection being unattainable is no safeguard against pining. Ask any teenage girl out there.

Seriously, though - to each his own and all that, it's none of my business. I just think some of these "I told you so" bumps (and I frankly struggle to see much purpose to 'em beyond just that) are awfully premature. He won't get sacked tomorrow.

I read an article just now claiming that the doubters - who warned us all back in May - have now been "largely" proven right. As though there are degrees to being utterly unsuited to the job (which is what said doubters claimed). They're "largely" right, apparently, because United are presently playing poorly, languishing in 7th place and whatnot. And that must "largely" be true when the season ends too, I suppose, if this logic is to make any sense. Nevermind, digression - as you were.
