NBA 2018-2019

That has cost many a great player/team a Championship though. Having Kawhi will be huge here. I'm not sure the lad has any emotions at all. The media make fun of it but I think the fact that nothing seems to bother him can be a huge help moving forward.
You're right but I still believe in Kawhi. I hope he does it just to see Skip Bayless melt down.

He was(is) pissed about the crowd cheering kd injury which isnt a good sign.
That cnutish from the Toronto crowd tbh.

Seriously, the Raptors, even in this bottled game, have shown they are simply better in general than this injury ridden team. It's just a matter of being patient and controlling your nerves now. It would have been nicer to wrap it all up in front of the home crowd though

Yeah, if you look objectively they should be able to win 1 in 2 looking at past games. But you also don't want to go to game 7 having lose this way tonight (or this morning, think am gonna fall asleep in my office). And Warriors have been in these type of situations while on the other side only Kawhi and Ibaka were. For all Raptors bottling in the last 2 minutes, you have to nail those threes as Klay and Curry did.

All bets are off at this point imo. Really hard to tell how both teams will respond.

Those were truly incredible, honestly big big shots. Thursday cannot come up soon enough

Fantastic match. Really feel for KD, but I'm pretty sure he wanted to be part of it.

Hope Dubs pull it through now would be a great story.

Ah shite :(

Hope he recovers well, that’s a horrible injury. And shame on the portion of Toronto crowd who taunted him, poetic justice they didn’t see their team lift the trophy.
Looks worse than I thought during the game :(

Any chance that being only a sprain ?

Surely means he's done for the series though. Perhaps for the start of the new season too.

Damn. Brutal for KD. The gamble ended up proving costly, but it’s the finals, if you can give it a go, you’ve got to give it a shot, especially with it being a do or die scenario.

He’ll be out for the majority of next season if it’s the Achilles and may have to sit it out entirely. Could be a career altering injury as well, considering he’s on the on the wrong side of 30, but he’ll have the best medical and rehab facilities at his disposal. Puts a bit of a dampener on the summer free agency drama as well, although that’s not important at this point.

He’s definitely out for the series now. Warriors are almost certain it’s the Achilles (Myer’s almost broke down in the presser, plus KD seems to know it’s bad based on his insta post). Will have MRI to confirm tomorrow. You can see something pop in the close up, which looks like the Achilles rupturing, although I’m no doctor.

It's torn. The replay is quite graphic.

Bet it was Achilles all along - probably a small tear month ago and now is completely fecked up. Wonder if Kerr or the doctor made the call. Naturally KD would want to play but if it was Achilles and after two work outs it's mental to give him ok.

Knew it. Had a bad feeling Toronto won't be able to close this and they've pretty much blown it now. Can't see anything but a Warriors win now, they'll come crushing down at Oakland and with their championship experience and the lack of the same for most of the Raps, they'll be favourites for Game 7.

Unbelievable that after giving us all sorts of dominant shows they've even been able to give a comeback from 3-1 down.
Raptors dominated up to now, but it was Dubs in control up until the last 6 mins or so in the 4th. For one they let it almost slip this time.

Next game will be interesting if Dubs manage to pull it through the decider would be 50-50 and can see it going either way.

Can you even sprain Achilles?

By the way, I can't believe that moving screen was called on Cousins in that moment. Nobody will remember because the Raptors lost but wow.

I was just listening to Bill Simmons podcast and him & Russilo were both stunned that they called that in the last minute of the game . They followed that by letting Gasol hold Draymond for most of the final possession

Still don't understand the Raptors' timeout when Leonard was on fire in Q4.
Maybe I'm making too much of it but GS only had 1 timeout left (with Kerr seemingly not willing to take it) and they were looking deafeted. It allowed them to fully regroup.

Me neither. They still had 4 or something as well.

Pity as he has done well up to this point but could easily blame it on the coach(last night loss)

It was weird. I don’t even watch or follow basketball but I was awake (newborns eh) so wasn’t giving it a watch. Even i, when I heard the stop, thought it must be a warriors TO. I was stunned when it was Raptors. Completely momentum killing.

Also following that, their whole gameplay was IMO very very negative. I can understand what they were trying to do but the score was just too close to be trying it. Especially with how the warriors were sinking their 3’s all night.

To be fair to him he would have lost two timeouts after that play so was probably worth a risk just to get his team some rest. Looks awful in hindsight

One of the things that I don't like which the warriors do a lot as well when they are winning is trying to run the clock down . I know it's easier said than done but playing quality offence got you here so you got to trust that rather than trying to take 20 seconds off the clock and then taking a contested shot against a set defence

Even then, you got to look at things relatively right. Understand the rest argument but also means the Warriors get a rest. And at that moment, they looked like they needed it much less than the warriors did.

Can't really see Dubs letting this slip now.

Yeah it was weird. Warriors basically built their Splash Brothers offense around moving screens and Bogut used to do dozens of them during games and they never get called (and other teams do it frequently too and hardly get called), and of all games they suddenly call it in the final seconds of a championship game.

Man to man Raptors are by far the better team . Just struggle to see how the Warriors can win two more games here

Teams always seem to shit the bed against the Warriors.

Nah, Raptors still leads the series and they also have home court advantage in the decider. It's Raptors to lose. If KD was ok and returned properly I could see them winning 3 in a row without an issue.

They need another 20+ scorer and Green/Cousins have to big their game a lot in the last 2 games.

And even these were not enough; they needed the Raptors coach to make bad decisions.

I hope that the media and the GSW fans will now give Durant some respect. He has been really unfairly treated over the past 5 weeks (and before). The guy did all that he could yesterday and risked his career. I also hope that people stop with that "GSW are better without Durant" nonsense.

Yeah that's been a bit much really. It's one thing to criticise his decision to ruin the sport, but he's clearly the best player on the team and gives a huge amount of effort.

Lowry bottle job - and I'm not even talking about the missed shot.

What on earth was he doing running the clock, driving to the basket then launching the ball back with 2 seconds left - which goes back over half court.

That was the game there.

In terms of the crowd cheering I think that was all emotion of the moment and when they realised it was a serious injury they gave him a standing ovation and chanted KD - still a terrible look unfortunately.

Yeah, he was ridiculous in the final 3 minutes. Should have been taken off and replaced by VanVleet.

I might be in the minority here but I find it hard to really feel sorry for Durant. Of course, of course it's terrible to see such a great player, or any player at that, go down with a torn achilles, but he knew the risk he took by playing last night. And it's one he shouldn't have taken imo but each to their own I guess. Call him "the ultimate competitor" or whatever but he probably knew he wasn't really fit to play and choose to do so regardless, then you simply have to live with the consequences.

Will be interesting to see what he does once the season is done now, although I don't think the injury changes much in terms of where he'll be able to play or how much he'll get paid.

Nah come on mate, he was the best player in the league before the injury and is always pity to see one of the greats go down like that. It's not like the first player that risked his health when the chips were down.

It was a decider and if the doctor told him he could play his mind probably was set.

The injury changes his position IMO. That is him for sure out of the beginning of the next season and whilst he's obviously a top name would be a risk for any team to take him for next season, especially missing most part of it.

Can see Dubs offering him the max though especially since they will feel part of what happened.

And you could make a whole essay about " the concept of bricks in basketball" regarding that shot.
