These refs man
love watching all the silicon valley pricks leave early
Immense. Iblocka.Ibaka is the man tonight.
Love it. Surely Raptors can clinch it from here. Liked the Raptors when I was a kid and followed basketball because Windsor is close enough to Toronto, but they were shite for ages and I lost interest in basketball a while ago. Nice to see them up there finally though.
Canadian vs Americanits closer to detroit you coward
BMO Field was nuts tonight, even crazier than when TFC played. After the match, a large number of fans gathered up and started chanting "Lets go Raptors!"
I’m enjoying getting into the basketball but man that chant is shite.
It is, but once you start getting into it, you'll enjoy it like nothing else. I now know how Chelsea fans feel with their boring chants.I’m enjoying getting into the basketball but man that chant is shite.
To be fair, the Leafs still have a young team that can prosper over time. They just need some pragmatism built into their younger players. It's been a mini- golden age for most Toronto based franchises recently. TFC, Blue Jays and now the Raptors. Of course, the biggest of them all is still the most disappointing. The Leafs.
cc: @charlton66(please don’t even try telling me Curry is better or comparable to Kawhi)
Great ride for Toronto so far. These playoffs have been such a roller coaster for them, from shocking loss to begin with against Orlando, through going 2-1 down to Philadelphia and looking bad, going down 2-0 to Bucks having been blown out in game 2, to here - one game away from the title.
When they beat Milwaukee I thought they would not have a chance in Finals, but I also assumed Durant would be back. Without him these teams are quite evenly matched but Raptors have huge advantage in the front court and also have the best player on the floor at all times (please don’t even try telling me Curry is better or comparable to Kawhi). They also want it more.
Actually losing these series could help Warriors retain Durant. Guy only cares about reputation and how people view him and if they lost 4-1 to Toronto without him, he would be bound to take some comfort in that and could be tempted to return and win with them again.
It’s good that we are now able to put ‘Warriors are better without KD’ to bed. They might be more fun at blowing out weaker teams, they struggle every single time they face a properly good team over 7-game series. They struggled against Cleveland in 2015 and won largely because Kyrie and Love went down, they struggled big time against OKC in 2016 and then lost to Cavs. They beat Houston fair and square this year but that’s about it when it comes to them beating quality teams without KD in the playoffs.
Spot on. We now have a guy who can actually make shots at the buzzer. He has brought Raps champion qualities lacking in previous playoffs. Go Raps!Psychological aspect is so underrated in sport. The team which was destined to fail in playoffs now catches -10 or -15 in few minutes against Bucks and Warriors without much problems. Once they got that monkey off their back (probably the moment when they went past 76ers) the whole team went up a level. Having someone like Kawhi to lead now is also a major difference obviously.
From that perspective, it will be interesting to see how they respond now being just 1 game away from making history.
Which team would have given him the max after that injury?I’m buzzing
Also, I hope I’m not tempting fate, but I find the DaMarcus Cousins situation hilarious. The guy pretty much spent $25 million to try and buy himself an easy ring, and it’s possible he still won’t have it, and to top it off he’ll be considered an injury prone player in free agency.
He played himself, could have easily got a max(ish) deal from several teams.

I get a personal preference, but saying he's not comparable is just silly.
Plus the Warriors have a title without KD. They need KD because they stripped all their depth to get him, but if he left and they got deep (don't max Dray), they'll be contenders. They only needed KD to be overwhelming favorites. That's not a legitimate need IMO. No team needs 2 MVPs.
Against a love/Irving less cavs. Curry here is struggling because kd is out and klay is unfit.
Doesn't make their title less legitimate. If Raptors see this out there will be no asterick. They won a title fair and square. Injuries are part of the game.
My point stands that the Warriors didn't need KD to become contenders. They got to 2 finals without him, winning one.
It does question the fact whether they would have won a title if they didn't get huge luck along the way without KD though.
Thank you. That saves me a lot of trouble beating the same dead horse. Just for the record: Kawhi in a series where all his team mates are contributing is averaging 30.8/10.3/4.9. Steph is averaging 32.8/5.0/5.5 in a team that is clearly hobbled. If those numbers hold up and Toronto win the series Kawhi will be FMVP. If the Dubs somehow come back (unlikely at this point) Steph will win it. Once again people are beating Steph up for somehow not contributing in a final. He is averaging nearly 33 ppg for heavens sake in a series where Cousins, Looney, Iggy and Klay are clearly not at 100% and the Raptors have done pretty much everything they can to make sure that Steph is not the one that beats them.I get a personal preference, but saying he's not comparable is just silly.

Simple extrapolation says they would have got 2 rings without KD (replacing a cold Harrison Barnes with a competent shooter from 3 would have been enough in 2017 finals). The team won 73 games without him, they weren't no scrubs.
