There's something not quite right about Clyne.

For most of the season we were heavily linked with him, our interest seemed genuine and it looked a simple and easy bit of business.

Not long before end of season the interest seems to wane and stories emerge of LVG changing his mind about him.

Post season we have no interest whatsoever and utd seem happy to tell that to journos.

Now he can't seem to hey a game for England, Roy clearly doesn't like something about him (or someone on coaching staff doesn't). To be do steadfast in not picking him then putting henderson in front of him at RB. Then there's the stories about how Roy thinks he shouldn't expect to start based on form.

All a bit suss to me. I just wonder if there's something behind the scenes with him. Either he's just a massive twat that nobody likes, or he's just not showing something in training etc and people who know better aren't convinced.

Sounds like he is about to follow in the steps of ravel Morrison.

Maybe Rafael is staying and LVG has assured him of playing time.

Well any player that you sign needs to be confident in their own ability to hold down a place in the team. So best he goes to a mid-table club where he can hold down a position and stay in a similar league position.
Never really fancied him at United just ain't quite got it in my opinion.
Plus these days right wing back is a pretty specialist position making it one of the easier ones to hold your place if you do your job.

His press conference will read. "I have been a Liverpool fan all of my life blah blah blah" :-)

I remember a game against Arsenal when he was at Crystal Palace, he was destroyed by Arshavin...

Not better that Rafael in my opinion. Rafael just has lapses of concentration and is obviously injury prone.

And prone to losing his head. He's not got the discipline for me - an immensly frustrating player.

The fact that he's always injured is what'll do for him here though.

apologies if this is mentioned elsewhere...but sources say Liverpool have had an offer accepted according to a few places. A shame - I'd like to see him join you guys.

Very happy he is going to Liverpool

I don't rate him at all and one of those players I've said I hope we wouldn't sign this summer.

Very glad about this !

We'll get Fabinho who is much much better than Clyne.

A great signing if it goes through, one of the priorities in this window hopefully sorted.

Very good player who will only get better.

He fits LFC brilliantly same level of quality in my opnion

Looks good and promising but eventualy destined to fail.

Liverpool making some solid signings so far imo especially Milner , Clyne and Firmino

We weren't very far ahead of them last season and, as it stands, I would have Liverpool pretty level with our squad - maybe ahead if we took De Gea out of our squad

We've got some work to do in the market if we want to cement our top four place

If he is really going for £12.5m then I would say that is a bargain considering we paid £30m for Shaw last summer.

Surprised we arent interested at that price - Clyne and Coleman would be the top two options for a RB for me, and I do feel we need a new RB.

Hopefully Fabinho will be coming to United.
I've never seen him play nor heard about him until United got linked to him. Is he better than Clyne for sure?

I wonder which RB are we signing if it's not Clyne or Fabinho. It's not like we have that many choices.

erm right ok then!

United paid over £30m for an over-weight full back who hasn't exactly been great as yet - for significantly less (assuming he signs), we have got a very good deal here.

haha no. For me he's solid - not great - but more reliable than Rafael. For one thing he's not made of glass!
Rafael at his best is far better than Clyne, but if we take their average contribution than Clyne is better considering that Rafael is not available for half of the season.

Clyne is better than Valencia too.

Saying that, he is very average and I didn't want us to sign him. Even when it looked it was a done deal. Same for Ings. Anyway, now they are Liverpool's problem.

Remember when he said he wanted to play in the Champions League? Poor bastard really thought we were interested, I'd say Southampton did too and are pissed off they're only getting £12 million.

People need to realize that our transfer business isn't dictated by whether or not a player is available on a bargain. Clyne isn't a must buy for us, even on a free.

Good signing for Liverpool. There are better RBs than Clyne around but not many would be available at that price. If you're working on a relatively limited budget then Clyne provides good value, something that is more of an issue for Liverpool than us.

1st Milner (Free) then Firmino (£29m) then Clyne (£12.5m) signed by Liverpool,

my point is are United missing out on players that we should have moved for or do you feel United have set the bar higher and big names will arrive?

Don't care about either Milner or Firmino but Clyne for £12.5m would have been a very good signing for us.

Clyne - no; Milner - maybe; Firmino - certainly. I think we will regret not pushing for Firmino - he's a game changer.

I reckon that we were interested in Clyne but he was second (maybe even third) choice behind Alves - so Clyne got fed up being messed around or preferred to go somewhere where he is first choice

Same thing could play out with Schneiderlin if we're not careful
